  1. I said showed 5 star talent. He certainly can uncork NFL throws. I didn’t say he played like a fully developed 5 star. There is a difference. I wouldn’t expect you to notice that nuance though. You ran in here to complain about a 370 yard, no Int, and 1 TD performance.
  2. Talking about a freshmen and leadership qualities is a waste of a conversation. He isn’t the leader. This was Rojo and Bijan’s team. Like I said before Studdard would tell freshmen Colt to STFU in the huddle. Does that make Colt a bad leader? Not to mention you don’t know shit about it, nor do I. I would say going up to console Worthy after two drops and was a solid leadership, but I am not looking for things to critique.
  3. Just another athlete take that never mastered a position.
  4. I am of the opinion that Ewers had been instructed to throw deep to X when there was a 1 on 1 match up. I can’t prove it, but that is my guess
  5. I think he showed 5 star talent and a freshmen mind. He was leading the Big 12 in big time throws at one pt. He looked shaky in game 1 vs ULM. Came out and lit up Bama. They happened to play a lot of man, so his reads were simple. Got hurt, lit up a terrible OU. Played solid vs ISU. OSU was a straight disaster. High winds and they threw some junk coverages at him and he wasn’t ready for it. Solid game vs KSU, one of better pass defenses in the Big 12. Struggled vs TCU. That was a game where the OL was dominated. He wasn’t ready to carry the load and looked like ass. Played solid vs Baylor, outside of 2 freshmen decisions. OL struggled in pass pro. Played well vs Washington with very little help. When college defense threw more sophisticated zones at him, he looked like a confused freshmen. He made throws that I haven’t seen Texas QBs capable of making and he made decisions that freshmen Elhinger would make. Just part of having a freshmen at Qb. Keep in mind Sark doesn’t run the simplest of systems for a QB, one of the reasons that Manning is coming
  6. He got there after fall camp started and had to go into COVID protocol, so he didn’t start practicing until late Aug/early Sept. The idea that he would just fly up the depth chart without fall camp is amazingly stupid.
  7. Don’t bother. I listened to Studdard in an interview talking about Colt’s freshmen year. He tamari’s Colt would occasionally make a call and the OL would tell him to STFU and they were going to run the ball. That didn’t mean Colt was a bad leader. It just meant Studdard was the alpha and it wasn’t Colt’s time to lead
  8. JMO. Cook is the best bet to make an impact. Gerry recently said Margin Hooks said that Johntay will come in with a full route tree and understanding of the college passing game. He has the athleticism to be very good. Niblett is the athlete. He plays everywhere for his HS. They find ways to get him the ball. The downside being he didnt spend all his time honing his WR skills, so he is raw. He is electric with the ball in his hands though. Moore reminds me a bit of JWhitt, with a little better ball skills. Good football player. Does everything well, not sure there is an elite trait to his game.
  9. Don’t listen to that nonsense. Ford isn’t getting 1st-2nd round looks. If he did, I would help him pack. NFL doesn’t value MLBs that high and Ford doesn’t have athletic traits that teams would reach for. Ford is going to ask for his grade from the NFL and likely be back.
  10. He also said that had no affect on Worthy’s lack of ability to track the ball. He wasn’t excusing the performance at all
  11. Speed isn’t the issue in the WR room. The issue is, outside of Cook, they are all fast and raw. Brennen and Niblett have the speed. Can they run routes? Make contested catches? What’s their catch radius? Texas WR has shown the ability to athlete things this year, they haven’t been great at doing WR things.
  12. I think it is a bit disingenuous not to include Burrow on the improved list. He made a major jump from year 1 as a starter for LSU to year 2. You can say it was system related, but you can’t argue he didn’t improve. What your data is showing is that all players do not develop on the same timeline, which should shock absolutely nobody
  13. Sometimes it’s best to just STFU.
  14. Defense lacks playmakers. There are some good players on defense, but not playmakers. Ford has been solid there, but there isn’t a playmaker in the secondary or DL.
  15. No idea. That is the great mystery of sports. Some teams just find ways to win (TCU this year). I wish I could put a finger on it, because I would have emailed the AD and figured this out 8 years ago
  16. This pretty much sums it up. Texas went 8-5 this year, because time and time again they didn’t make plays at critical moments. That includes all 3 phases. Last night Quinn misses a throw on 4th and 1. Quinn is solid and there are critical drops. Washington goes 13-23 on critical downs (that leads to 5 drives of 10 or more plays). Brooks drops an int in 4Q. That is the difference between 8 win teams and 10+ win teams. Good teams find ways to make plays at critical moments.
  17. This is a big part of the problem. JWhitt and Worthy are not guys that excel at going to get the ball or making contested catches. WR corp doesn’t have that guy currently or nobody has shown that ability yet. Sark/Marion need to find that guy.
  18. The WR room is excellent with the ball in their hands. They struggle when asked to go get the ball. I am talking about JWhitt and X. Just lacking guys that can make catches in traffic and occasionally bail out a QB. I used to watch the post game on LHN. They gave out rewards. The best catch on the year was Bijan’s catch vs ISU, which was hardly jaw dropping.
  19. I would say 18-25 for 202 yards, 0 ints, and 1 TD is solid. The passing game has not been the issue with the offense. If you told me Texas would have 27 rushing yards mid 3Q, I would have said of course Texas is losing
  20. Ewers is 14 for 20. 7 different players have caught a pass.
  21. Ewers is completing 70+ of his passes and Texas still can’t run the ball. It’s bad
  22. Because the blockers start blocking shortly after the ball is in the air. It’s not like they are looking back and waiting to see if Worthy is going to return it
  23. At least he got a hand on the RB. 40+ yard run and I didn’t even see a safety on my TV screen. That can not happen
