  1. In his defense Bennett was there for 13 years
  2. They ran for 3.08 vs Bama and under 4 in 3 of the last 4 (only MSU was higher). The one surprising thing has been Beck throwing 5 ints the last 3 games
  3. I think it time he starts getting starter reps. He is averaging 25 yards a touch. He the most talented WR and the most versatile.
  4. Sark ripped into Quinn in the 3Q after the missed TD attempt to Wingo. That was right after the fade away sidearm attempt on 3rd down to Golden. Yelling at him to set his feet, at least that is what the announcers claimed. I would bet Quinn and Sark really focus on the footwork this week in practice
  5. Couple things 1. Game threads bring out the worst in people. The QB of Texas will always be a lightning rod for them. Taking them seriously is bad for your health 2 Quinn looked like freshman Quinn. The concerning part wasn’t just the missed passes, but a return to terrible footwork that plagued him his freshmen year. He looked to be trying to protect himself, especially in that 1Q. I am hoping taking the shot on the TD run helps him out.
  6. I don’t know how OU fixes the offense. The OL is bad. They have no WRs. The one playmaker at RB (Tatum) can not block (not unusual for freshmen) and with an OL that struggles in pass pro it is hard to get him minutes. The QB holds the ball way too long and has his eyes on the rush, instead of down field. Good luck developing him in that environment. Even if you get a WR or 2 back, I am not sure this will be anything but a C- offense.
  7. I was just thinking about how much WR talent Texas has. Imagine another team losing a 1st/2nd round talent to injury and bringing in a more talented WR. Not sure where Wingo is with the playbook and the nuances of the position, but with the ball in his hands you don’t miss any playmaking ability. You may gain some with the ball in the air and blocking
  8. The difference right now is we have seen Quinn light it up vs good defenses in places like Tuscaloosa and Ann Arbor. Arch hasn’t seen a competent defense or hostile environment yet. I have hopes for Arch, but his ability to play high level college defenses is still an unknown. That isn’t excusing Quinn. He looked like freshman Quinn yesterday. His footwork and pocket presence were terrible. He can’t come out like that vs Georgia or we may find out how Arch looks vs a good defense.
  9. He watched that game and said “Cool, I am definitely starting next year”
  10. The one thing I lean on is Texas blowing the game last year and Stutsman putting out those "OU fears God, Texas fears OU" t-shirts. I cannot see Texas coming out flat in this game. Texas is the better team and the team with the motivation.
  11. He was definitely on some calls early last year, not sure if that was scouting or stealing. IF Texas scores 40, I will convince myself the comms made a difference. I dont think coaches talking to players is that big of a deal, when Texas has the ball. Quinn and Stutsman have been around. They pretty smart guys (football IQ) and have seen a lot. Probably more beneficial for younger players like Hawkins.
  12. I think that is the 9.95er answer, because they wont come out say Venables is a known sign stealer. He was hated in the ACC for it. Offensively, you only have part of the field where you have to worry about hearing the comms. Perhaps I have my tinfoil hat on, but I feel better about the game knowing Venables scumbaggary is going to be limited.
  13. Not sure any 9.95ers are talking about it, but helmet communication could be a big positive for Texas. Venables has reputations one of the best sign stealers in the country
  14. Just for the record DFEI rankings: Texas 4th Michigan 8th OU 10th
  15. Name Yr Pos G Att Yards Avg. TD Att/G Yards/G 1 Jovantae Barnes JR RB 5 57 199 3.49 2 11.40 39.80 2 Jackson Arnold SO QB 4 41 138 3.37 2 10.25 34.50 3 Taylor Tatum FR RB 4 18 116 6.44 2 4.50 29.00 4 Michael Hawkins Jr. FR QB 3 28 101 3.61 1 9.33 33.67 5 Sam Franklin JR RB 5 5 42 8.40 0 1.00 8.40 6 Gavin Sawchuk SO RB 5 18 33 1.83 0 3.60 6.60 that is not good I also looked at Sacks per drop back (Pass att+sacks allowed) Texas is 2nd in the SEC with a sack allowed every 33.2 drop backs.. Oklahoma is 13th with a sack allowed every 11 pass attempts. MSU was 15th at 8.7 to give you some reference. Texas had 6 sacks vs MSU. (Kentucky 14th)
  16. One of the Sooner donkeys said he would attack Hill. Said he was undisciplined.
  17. Simmons may get in trouble once or twice, but PK has dealt with a very similar QB in Milroe last year. I wouldnt be surprised if he just dusted out that game plan.
  18. Here is Hawkins big run. Auburn slanting the DE/OLB and bringing the ILB around the edge OU OL doesnt pass this off. Guard is screwed and chasing the ILB But the ILB is gets too wide and 50+ yards later its an OU TD and the blitzing ILB is never touched by an OL.
  19. This needs to get cleaned up for OU. Texas needs to stay in their Rush lanes. Ant needs to take on that Rb. He goes around him and opens up a huge hole. Texas ends having 2 rushers behind the QB
  20. The double move against Muhammad was wide open. That one that most QBs hit. Again this more about the fact this was the 1st team to test Texas deep with decent athletes.
  21. My bad on that. I thought it was Mukaba's grade. I still think MSU game exposed a potential weakness
  22. The rebuttal of just Mukaba's grade is obviously focusing on 1 of the 5 starters. Again if MSU isnt MSU and they hit those shots, I would bet those grades are lower for the secondary, especially the Cbs. We do that vs Georgia and this board will be back into full panic mode over the secondary. That was the 1st team to attack the secondary deep this year and they did a poor job. Perhaps it was a good thing it happened vs a team that was unable to take advantage of the coverage lapses with idea that is can be addressed before it hurts the team.
  23. I was highlighting that Texas showed some vulnerability to the deep ball vs the first SEC average WR group they have faced. We can ignore that and focus on 1 of the 5 starters, who wasnt involved in those.
  24. Comment was directed more at the CB grade. I think it was Muhammad getting burned twice and Holmes once on deep balls. Holmes and MuKuba gave up a catch, but that was more of a tip your cap kind of thing. Great throw and catch in traffic.
