  1. Good thing our border is wide the fuck open. Anyway you say they’re a national security threat because they’re destabilizing energy and food markets. There’s nothing we can do to stop them from doing that. In fact our sanctions have made the energy situation worse. How would people here like to stop them? We literally can’t. Outside of a massive conflict. I disagree with the mantra that we must stop them at all costs because I don’t think we can stop them without risking a far worse calamity. I dislike this thread because it’s basically mainstream media/military industrial complex propaganda constantly about how great Ukraine is doing. But clearly Russia is advancing after their initial goals were shot down, to the Ukrainians credit. The reason this stuff is propagated is to help convince Americans it’s okay to keep sending money even though in a lot of ways it’s a lost cause. We aren’t pushing Russia back to the original borders. That’s a pipe dream. exactly. So people acting like they’re going to go country to country are mistaken. I see this as a big distraction from our biggest threat, China. And in the process of fighting it, our sanctions are causing more harm than we currently understand.
  2. Screw the farmers and ranchers. I can’t wait to try the new lab grown protein options, as well the bugs. /CR
  3. Ok let me this straight. Long term they’re fucked, but short term they must be stopped at all costs. They have a bumbling, outdated military but are a danger to all of Europe and the security order of our Transatlantic sphere. Also, I can assure you that if Ukraine isn’t keeping American’s attention, very few people will give a fuck about Moldova or Georgia. And I’m not sure they really should give more than a passing fuck. You mock the inflation concern, but it underlies so many of the political problems out there. If you think 9% inflation in Germany doesn’t affect attitudes towards increasing military spending then I don’t know what to tell you. While the specter of a new PIGS sovereign debt crisis looms as well. Germans will be expected to bailout again. You don’t think it affects how Americans feel about sending tens of billions to Ukraine? Cmon. I actually think the debt/financial situation is more of a threat to EU stability long term than a decaying wannabe empire.
  4. Tiafoe going to 5th set against Goffin. Tough ending to 4th for him. Will be challenge mentally to lift his level again.
  5. Unambiguous defeat, at least to me, implies expulsion of all Russian troops and re-establishment of pre existing borders. I think the amount of money and resources necessary to make that happen are more than what is politically feasible here or in Europe. The only way it becomes feasible is with significant escalation from Putin. I get the argument that it’s coming, but until it happens we’ll all be waiting while they blow each other up.
  6. A couple questions. Could you elaborate on how this war is intertwined with our domestic problems? Are you talking about how it worsened inflation and the sanctions increased oil prices? What is a bad outcome? Would new borders that roughly stand where the lines currently do constitute a bad outcome? Just trying to understand how a bad outcome would worsen our domestic situation.
  7. It’s his bit. Actually kind of funny how many people get pulled offsides by it.
  8. Way to address the content. Cutting back on farmers and ranchers to save the environment is bad policy. Especially leading into food shortages. I predict even more backlash if they proceed on a larger scale with these policies. Anti-mandate, no, not really, anti-illegal and unfettered immigration, YES Should I only be pushing love and unity? What is this, some kind of cult? I’m here because I’m a contrarian by nature. I read this board because I find it fascinating to read the opinions of a mass of people that disagree with me on most topics. Sometimes this board needs a counter weight against the orthodoxy. “We must fight climate change at all costs.” Hey how about farmers and ranchers being forcibly shut down for some regulatory climate goals? Or what about self imposed energy shortages around the world? These things won’t have any repercussions! “We are doing so great with Ukraine. Look at these countries that joined NATO and all these great victories. Our sanctions are so well thought out. The ruble is rubble!” Hey how about the ruble at multi year highs and Putin actually making more money than ever selling commodities? Oh and btw they’ve been slowly making military advances despite us giving tens of billions of dollars to help. Oh and more countries are slowing moving away from us, actually. The list could go on but it’s Friday evening. A holiday weekend. Y’all stay safe out there. Im going to move my traffic over to the recruiting board now. It should just be nice positive vibes all weekend when I check in. ✌🏻
  9. It appears that restricting people’s ability to feed themselves and others in the name of the climate is going to cause some upheaval.
  10. Pretty good crowd here. Forcing the closure of farms and ranches heading into a global food shortage is the epitome of, bold strategy Cotton.
  11. We’ll see. Their resolve hasn’t really even been tested yet, but it’s coming.
  12. Does anyone here think this goes through next winter without some sort of ceasefire? Europe is going to be bent over a barrel and they will be pushing us and Ukraine to find an off ramp.
