  1. I average around 18k steps a day from walking and jogging (usually hit 20k but average 18k to days off). I lift weights and do body weight exercises every day. I still have to eat sensibly. I could easily gain weight if I was drinking calories and eating crappy. Even at this level of activity.
  2. Most fights, when someone pulls out a gun and uses it to kill someone, it is murder. Regardless of who starts it. There are exceptions, if you are having your head slammed into a curb or one party is on the ground and getting repeatedly kicked in the head, you can use deadly force to stop it. But standard fist play or pushing matches, not even close.
  3. My theory on QBs drafted high -- you want them to be elite or you want them to be really shitty. The worst is one that just kind of teases you a bit but is mediocre and ties up your depth chart for 5+ years. Give me a Jamarcus Russell over a David Carr any day. You move on quickly when it's a clear bust.
  4. Not for us, but with his size and speed, I wonder if he could return punts?
  5. Even shitty brisket can be chopped with some spicy sauce and make a very good sandwich.
  6. That makes no sense. Money is money. Why would they take less if it’s a bag when they can be paid by boosters legally through NIL?
  7. Yeah, so what? Collectives and corporate stuff aren’t. The AD isn’t dropping bags from athletic department funds. Boosters do. Boosters can legally give to collectives. What benefit does circumventing collective do? Other than expose all parties to risk. Especially from IRS
  8. I don’t think I agree with Gerry on this one. There won’t be a cap. So why drop a bag?
  9. Yeah. I think most agree it’s a lot harder to get in now than it was 30 years ago.
  10. How was it harder to get in? Size is about the same. A lot more applicants now. I knew plenty of pretty average students who got in when I finished high school (1994) or shortly thereafter
  11. Started adding a 50 pound weight vest to my morning and evening walks. Each 2 miles. Really makes it feel like a workout. In addition to HIIT I do pretty much daily. Going to do some serious long section hikes of the CDT in Montana this summer as my place is 35 minutes from Glacier entrance. That plus all the stairs I do at office should help.
  12. Really do not even have to get into all of that. Unless Anthony had a reasonable belief his life was in danger or a reasonable belief he needed to use deadly force to prevent serious bodily injury, self defense is not available.
  13. Mangino would be a great analyst. Pretty sure he had weight loss surgery. He now is just about the size of the average Surly tailgater
  14. OU 2000 also had freakish luck with injuries. Their depth was not great, so that was fortunate. I don't think a starter missed a single game. That just never happens.
  15. Quinn's arm never looked special to me. He threw a nice, catchable ball. Same thing with Simms. Other than throwing short passes as hard as he could, I never was wowed with his arm. When they put him on the radar gun at the combine, he was in the bottom half of participants.
  16. If it goes to him, I am guessing Metcalf's heirs will filed tort claims and get it all.
  17. I don't remember whether I posted about it. But I know a guy who was a GA with Herman at Texas and they are buddies. He was pretty adamant that Herman's personal demons would preclude any sort of sustained success. Tempered my enthusiasm about the hire. He said Herman might win big early if we were lucky but would burn out. Compared him to Billy Gillispie. Also said his wife was a piece of work. This guy liked Herman a lot but was concerned.
  18. Agreed. Also felt like the last couple of years he would look really good early against what were good defenses (Bama, Mich). Then he would get banged up. And was not the same guy. Not saying he is a wimp, but he was not the same guy when he was walking wounded.
  19. Is the House Settlement going to be the return of bag dropping?
  20. You do protein shakes? I mix one up with coffee, ice, and a banana in the blender for breakfast every day. Has around 250 calories. Keeps me full until lunch. I also drink a Core Power with 40 grams of protein around 4 every day -- keeps me from snacking before dinner. I would have a very difficult time hitting my protein goals without the shakes.
  21. My grandmother is 91 and still does kettle bell workouts. She has dementia which sucks. But if it were not for that, she could still do all sorts of stuff. She was playing golf with her club friends up until a few years ago until onset of dementia. She skied well into her 70s. An older friend of mine is 80 and his morning workout is to play 18 while walking the course. He looks 65. I decided to get into shape a few years ago when I turned 45 after several years of being out of shape because I want my 50s to 80s to be as good as they can be. I have seen to many people in their 50s that are in awful shape and unable to walk up a flight of stairs without getting short of breathe. I am not nearly as worried about longevity. As a believer, not worried about dying. But I do not want to be an invalid or unable to do the things I love outdoors. To me, health is about putting yourself in the best position possible to have quality of life. Very hard to do if you are obese, eating garbage, and inactive.
  22. I agree with all of this. I hope he redeems himself also. I seriously doubt this kid is inherently murderous and evil. I think he did a really, really stupid and evil thing.
