  1. More "Americans are Nazis helping more Nazis!!!" incoming from Putin in 3...2.... With nary a "Wait, the didn't the Americans fight the Nazis too?" coming from the peanut gallery.
  2. Last time I was in Nashville, I tried to get a Nudie jacket that was Texas themed. It was $2300. Luckily, I was a bit to <ahem> generously proportioned for it. Sweatergod, it was made for Peter Dinklage.
  3. Quite the contrast with tfg who wanted to shake down Zelensky for his own personal gain. Joe literally in a war zone to show the Ruskies who has the biggest swinging dick in the world. Don’t forget it Vlad.
  4. So some weirdness about the Vibrolux. It has a 4 ohm speaker when spec'd for 8. Also, no idea who made the speaker. Could be Radio Shack for all I know. It sounds good, but I feel like an amp of this vintage deserves a quality speaker. I've heard mixed review of those, but they are the ones that gave the original its name. If I was going to replace it, Jensen or Weber? Seems like there's an internet consensus for Weber. What says this group?
  5. My 82 LP Custom is like 13 lbs. Its a heavy beast.
  6. I’m down with the brown. In every context.
  7. The Fender tribe. EC Vibro Champ 68 Princeton Reverb 66 Twin. 61 or 62 Vibrolux
  8. This is so true. My bud has a 75 LP red sparkle with minibuckers. Sounds awesome. He has an 81 LP Custom gold-burst with Tim Shaws. Same thing. Maybe they aren’t as great as the “golden era” guitars. But they are great guitars.
  9. So I went to pick up my Vibrolux today. Played damn near every guitar my buddy had through it because well, they were there. The top sound was a 1973 LP Custom 57 RI on the neck pup which is one of those staple jobs. Incredible sounds. So now I have a new quest…
  10. Heard these on the way home from work yesterday. Second is more interesting because its "man on the street" interviews. https://www.npr.org/2023/02/16/1157639861/where-does-iran-go-now https://www.npr.org/2023/02/16/1157639854/irans-government-has-tamped-down-most-protests-but-anger-and-desperation-persist
  11. This I think is the worst. I've worked in offices where the boss thought it improved competition to pit workers against each other. It does increase competition, but only among the workers. It diminishes overall outcomes for the company and creates an internal culture of insecurity and fear, rather than innovation and teamwork. Time wondering who is trying to fuck you over, or who you need to fuck over, is not time spent thinking about how to improve/sell the product. This is the sense, on a much grander scale, that I get from the Russian armed forces, and Russian government in general.
  12. Like any other physical or mental workout, a little daily is better than a lot at once.
  13. This is me. I buy books thinking I'll learn what's in them. Then I buy guitars (very lightly) thinking they'll make me a better player (ahem, jazz box). Online shit too? Oh yeah, I popped $100 on Beatos courses (which are actually not bad). Hell, if I stopped buying books/magazines and just made myself learn what was in them, I'd be a superstah! At the beginning of covid I did pretty well making myself have a guitar lesson and a bass lesson once a week each. Now that Chad Jr. is doing extracurriculars again though, it's been tough to keep up that learning. Gotta get back on that horse.
  14. 4. Putin's has been getting his purge on for a while. It reminds me of Stalin's pre-war purging of the army, combined with the first year/year and a half of WWII. 6. Yes but they'd have to get arms from somewhere and most excess western supply is headed to Ukraine. 7. Slow your roll. They're still going to have to rebuild 1/3 to 1/2 of their industry and I'm not sure that I believe throwing out the Russians will cure their own tendency towards corruption. Germany is still going to be sitting there unaffected by war. But the rest, yeah I'm with you.
  15. So it's looking more and more to me that Russia could just wind up completely losing this 100% on its' own, and has shot itself in the dick. It's almost as if the Ukes don't have to go after them at all, just let the Russians come on and get destroyed. But let's game it out a bit. Say Ukraine has a spring campaign that is wildly effective and regains its 1991 borders. Does Russia continue just to lob shells at Ukrainian territory from Russia? Does the border from Belarus to to the Black Sea wind up looking like a super long (and super expensive) DMZ like NK/SK? If the Uke's retaliate by attacks into Russia where does that leave Russia? Does continued Russian lower grade attack prevent Ukraine from joining NATO because there's an ongoing low grade conflict? I know this is a long way off, but seeing all those Russian tanks stuck in the mud, general's committing "suicide" by falling out of windows or taking shots to the back of the head really make me wonder what the end looks like if Ukraine can take real advantage of the Russian organizational chaos.
  16. '54 was the first year of production, so that adds some mojo that may convert to cash. But yeah, it feels like there has to be more to this one than just '54.
  17. Great question. Last I recall it was half that unless some special provenance.
  18. Pick me up a tall mocha at Quack’s for me on your way back.
