  1. thats good, you're in Daily Texan... not that anyone could tell.
  2. Listened to the rest. Here is a quote from Doctorow towards the end of the podcast in response to whether he is optimistic or pessimistic about fixing enshitification. “So here's a way out of that trap. And it's to throw away pessimism and throw away optimism, which are both fatalism, right? Pessimism, the belief things are going to get worse no matter what we do. Optimism, the belief things are going to get better no matter what we do. What we do matters, right? We are steering history. And what we call that belief is hope. And hope is the belief that even though you can't see your way from here to the end state that you want to achieve, that if you ascend the gradient towards that future, that as you ascend it, you will attain new vantage points from which will be revealed to you terrain that was invisible when you were at that lower spot. And that that will be your next step.”
  3. Back row 23 -33... manlets need not apply. Those are some tall ass women.
  4. a literal pack of runway model pleasuring sexual tyrannosauri who were one injury(coach mismanagement) away from being Tom freakin Brady.
  5. Effective... but maybe too effective?
  6. Watched a good bit of this. I'd loosely summarize Doctorow's position as the path to enshitification was laid by changes to anti-trust law and regulatory enforcement. Related to that he explicitly states removal of individuals like Zuckerberg isn't the solution and whomever comes next will likely be "worse". Obviously being anti tech boss is a popular position. Lina Kahn drove a hard anti-trust position at FTC and was hated with the power of a thousand suns by tech world. So who has a solution to stopping/slowing enshitification? and what is it?
  7. based on the last few years of conflicting information between Fed and ADP whenever the Fed starts back up there will be conflict in the data. So why would you want to be the sole provider to Powell, who is already on the hot seat, when you know there will be differences between what you provide and what the Fed produces?
  8. Brazillian Ronin sequel kind of sucks.
  9. I think old Swigert gave me the clap. He's been pissing in my relief tube.
  10. They aren't stopping announcing numbers. They are stopping providing numbers to Fed.
  11. Probably ADP. Anyone with a remote level of survival instincts would avoid being the single source of data on a topic such as that. Its lose-lose.
  12. I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed.
  13. That is gorgeous. I love pools surrounded by trees with sun filtering through. Just glorious. Pool sweeper is like....
  14. Can you ELI5 the "17 ISP redundant link backbone". I assume that doesn't mean 17 ISP providers each with separate bills, or does it?
  15. worth 3 min if you appreciate brawling.
