This thread was good to me. Just spent the week there. Pretty sure the Taco Stand’s California burrito is the best burrito I’ve ever had.

Was crazy for me to see the differences between Ocean Beach and Mission Beach/Pacific Beach. OB gave off the gritty, beach bum living in a camper lifestyle whereas as you kept going north it became more upscale. I liked the bars/ townies in OB more, but Mission/Pacific beach were nicer.

Weird quirk, but I couldn’t get over how beautiful the Bird of Paradise flowers were, saw them all over Balboa Park and along the boardwalks as well

Glad you had a good time.  PB is a cool area and, yes, OB is a little more rough around the edges.  I trust the weather was great for you.  We had a little rain farther north, but I'm not sure if SD got any of it.

  2. Saw it last night.  Thought it was very good, but not great.  Loved the depiction/discussion of all the details about his "craft.  Thought that some of the opening voiceover could have been trimmed down -- after a while his droning voice was starting to wear thin.  The big fight scene was outstanding.  The conclusion was pretty anti-climactic.

One of my biggest dislikes was that the score was like nails on a chalkboard in certain places.  Never cared too much for Trent Reznor or NIN, so that dislike probably factors into it somewhat.

Hell, he wasn’t even trying before the fumble. He should be let go tonight

Saw all of that in real time while watching the game and was just aghast.  If I was his coach, my head would explode.

STFU bitch, he has won 10 games twice at Kentucky in his time there. I get your point, SEC is overrated in many ways but don't let that get in the way of clear thinking. He is far and away a more proven coach than what they deserve. We fucking hired Tom Herman from Houston who won a bunch of games in that big bad conference they were in. What conference was that BTW?

Are you really comparing the Kentucky job to the Georgia job? I'm speachless on that.

Stoops is 35-55 in conference play since becoming head coach at UK.  He's not the guy who was going to raise aggy out of mediocrity, though I'm not sure that person even exists.  He absolutely would have been a terrific hire . . . from our standpoint.

I mean honestly I would believe it. It's impossible to turn UK into a championship program and at some point in life, making $8mm vs $9mm is probably nothing for these guys

  6. Diontae Johnson of the Steelers seems like he sucks.  Gets all pissy on the sideline last week and yaps at Tomlin.  Then gets into an altercation with Fitzpatrick in the locker room that vets Hayward and Watt had to break up.  Today, Pickett hits him in the endzone, but Johnson fails to secure the catch as he goes to the ground, so a sure TD turns into an incompletion.  Then on the very next play, the Pittsburgh RB fumbles.  Johnson is in the vicinity but stands around and does nothing, even after a Cincy defender grabs the ball and starts running in the other direction.  Failing to make the catch sometimes happens, but if I were Tomlin there's no way I would tolerate a failure to hustle.

This kid may have had some good seasons in the past, but he seems like a cancer.

I mean we have the ability to stop Ollie Gordon and stomp their ass.  OU would make it more of a game.

I don't disagree with this, but I still think Texas beats OU in a rematch.  It's unfortunate IMO that we won't be able to find out whether Texas was up to the task.

Whatever.  We couldn't control the opponent, so now that it's OSU, go out and stomp the shit out of them.  Get some payback for last year in Stillwater and see if we can sneak into the CFP.

I really don't understand people that think beating OU in the Big 12 championship game would have been a lot better for us.

They would have been a 3 loss team with a couple bad losses. OU wasn't going to be a great win for us in the Big 12 championship game and they have the potential to give us more issues.

Not saying it would have been "a lot better" to beat OU in the CCG instead of OSU, but it would have been better.  A victory over OU would have had the salutary effect of showing the selection committee that the one team that  managed to beat us this season is not, in fact, better than us, and it also would have felt great from a revenge standpoint.

And Okie Lite is *already* a 3-loss team.  OU's losses certainly aren't worse than OSU losing to fucking South Alabama (!), ISU, and Central Florida.  Did you *see* that OSU-UCF game, for chrissakes?  At least OU was competitive in their two losses.  OSU looked like hammered dogshit when they lost to South Alabama and UCF.

    7 minutes ago, Rickylovesweed said:

Yes, but that’s the point. Neither would be great wins like an Alabama win. They’re both just decent wins.

I would rather play the best match up which gives us the best chance of winning.

I'd rather get payback by beating the better team.  If we're worried about which team matches up better with us, then we shouldn't even be there in the first place.

The most obvious example for me is Paul Westerberg (The Replacements) and his admiration for Alex Chilton (The Box Tops, Big Star).  For reference I'll link The Replacements song "Alex Chilton", and then the biggest hits by The Box Tops and Big Star.  ("The Letter" was in fact written by Wayne Carson, but The Box Tops made it a huge hit.)

Great example, for it was through the Replacements ("Alex Chilton"), the Bangles (their cover of "September Gurls"), the dB's, and R.E.M. that I discovered Big Star.

Many years ago I was reading an article in Rolling Stone in which different artists were listing what they had listened to the most that particular.  I think it may have been James Hetfield of Metallica of all people who raved enough about a compilation of soul singer James Carr that I went out and bought the album without hearing it first.  Hell, I had no idea who James Carr was until I read that article.

    Bwaaahahahahaaaaaa!

    17-0 ... without a single P5 school!

You be you, Texas A&M football ...

Btw ... I checked their schedules.  I only found 14.  Unless I made a mistake ... did they inflate this number as well?? Count their own spring games?  Wins in games they didn't actually play?

    3X SMU

    2X Sam Houston

    UTEP

    2X Lamar

    Rice

    2X Prairie View A&M

    2X UTSA

    ACU

They played Sam Houston 3x during that period, not 2x.  (2022, 2012, and 2013).

They played Rice 2x during that period, not 1x.  (2013 and 2014)

They played Texas State 1x during that period.

I did like their question though, "Were you more thrilled to be cast as an athlete or a 30 YO bartender..."

Yeah, good questions.  And I'm sure that made Marky Mark even more thrilled.

That said, he actually seemed to warm up a little bit with time.

I’m heartbroken that Jimbo was forced out. I am grieving.

While all of us would have preferred Jimbo's Reign of Error to continue, you should take heart that aggy will continue to fuck up somehow.  It's what they do.  They'll continue to invent new ways to shit the bed.

Well that was awful by Dobbs

That's more on KOC than anything, IMO.  Terrible playcalling and designs when it's clear Denver is going to bring heat.  Didn't have hot routes or safety valves on any of those plays.  Contrast that with what Denver did on their last drive -- hit Perine flaring out of the backfield over and over again.  Dobbs had very little chance when Denver was bringing extra rushers and no receivers were open or even looking for the ball immediately.

  16. That unnecessary roughness no call on the first Minnesota turnover turned out to be huge.  Turned into 3 points for Denver, which was the difference in the game.

The SEC decision to only play conference games in 2020 spared ACU and North Texas from the aggy steamroller, and kept them from running that total to 19 (presumably)

As usual, the rest of the SEC conspires to thwart aggy dominance.
