Alright—about time to head out to find a bar here in West Hollywood.  I saw the boy march this morning in the Tournament of Roses Parade and got plenty of comments on my Longhorns sweater—quick observation: the Tournament of Roses people all speak very fondly of Texas’s trips out here.

But fun time is over—time to get down to business. Fuck Washington. And while we’re at it, fuck Alabama and fuck Michigan, too.

So, I have this friend who was a chef in Florida and owned her own restaurant. Nice place. Anyway, one day Tom Smothers ends up there. Likes the food. He chats with friend about cooking for him at his tasting room and running the hospitality side. She is a bit of a hippie and wants out of Florida "where people don't appreciate her food" (her words) so off she goes to Sonoma County. Lives there on property and works with Tom for years until I think it sold or she quit--not sure. Anyway, when she left Tom gave her a case of wine where he had signed the bottles. A few years ago, she gives one to me. I had forgotten about it until I saw this thread. Went into dining room and found the dusty still-corked bottle.

CSB (no sarcasm).  And you can toast his memory with it when you open it.

The delusion remains strong among aggy, thankfully.

"We would have won the Big 12 this year!"  Yeah, something you did ONE time in about 16 seasons when you were in the Big 12.  And you didn't beat a single fucking team with a winning record this season.  But, yeah, you clearly would have won the Big 12.

"Our little scrappy team showed heart!"  As another poster noted, aggy put 14 four-star players on the field last night compared to one for OSU.

Never change, aggy.  Never change.  Fortunately, I don't think you have the capacity to do so.

We spent last week in Santa Fe doing a combo Thanksgiving/Christmas with our kids. We stayed at the Inn of the Governors and every room had artwork from the same artist in it. I'm not sure what we did to deserve the "Padre molesting a monkey with a feather" room, but that's what we were given.

Username (and hotel room) fits . . .

Took my time on this one. Felt a little hot at times, but very smooth if you give it a little while to breathe. Good night, sweet prince.

It permeates all of his films.

I thought his best work was Spiderman: No Way Home.  Maybe it's because he seemed to not take himself too seriously.  Overall, though, an awfully mediocre actor.

Yeah, his acting has never resonated with me.  Thought he was okay in Ride with the Devil, but that was mainly because his youthful look, mannered acting, and naivete seemed to fit in with both the plot and 19th century frontier mores.

Eh, radio without DJ's might be the greatest advancement of the 21st century imo.

I get it.  A lot of DJ's can be annoying, talk too much, and take away from the music, which to me is a cardinal sin.  But a really good DJ could enhance the experience.  For example, Jody Denberg was a guy that enhanced the experience for me.  I learned stuff about the music and the artists he was playing because of his commentary, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for what I was hearing.

FWIW, I rarely listen to radio anymore.  But there was something cool about 70's and 80's radio when you had the right DJ handling things.

  8. I didn't always agree with his takes (his on-air rant about the Who playing the Hollywood Bowl a couple days after Entwistle died stands out as one example), but the man lived and breathed rock n' roll and fought hard to do his radio programs his way, which one had to respect.  He was one of the last of a dying breed.  I kind of feel bad for kids these days who won't know what it was like to listen to the radio and hear DJ's that you felt you had a connection with.

Silly fun. During certain shots, Swan looks a bit like Sela Ward.

Definitely a strong Sela Ward resemblance.  And that's a very good thing.
