  1. Haven't been there myself, but I recall a friend of a friend raving about the scenery, hiking, and rock climbing in Smith Rock State Park, which is about 30 miles north of Bend.
  2. The Victorinox kitchen knives are a great value IMO. The chef's knife has a comfortable handle and does everything a chef's knife should, while being easy to maintain. The paring knife is a damn scalpel. Oh, and check your messages.
  3. It's been difficult to resist buying some kind of edged tool during Prime Days. That's all I've got to say about that.
  4. I've had Weber gas grills for years and years, but I never replaced the flavorizer bars on any of 'em. Am I doing it wrong? What caused you to replace yours? Constant flareups?
  5. Yeah, the Germans were PISSED at his assassination. They burned and/or leveled entire villages. I've read that the total number of deaths in connection with the reprisals exceeded 1,300, and included numerous women and children. Fucking Nazis . . .
  6. Great place to catch a game. Several years ago, my son and I went to the Texas-Cal game (shitty result -- thanks, Charlie), then stayed in Oakland and took the ferry the next day over to the ballpark for a Giants game. The boat docks right next to the stadium. It's an excellent way to get to the stadium if you're coming over from the East Bay -- no traffic, parking hassles, etc.
  7. How much did you pay for the drugs? Asking for a friend.
  8. Did some beef ribs on the Weber bullet on the 4th of July. Ran 250 for the first 1.5 hours, then up 275 degrees for most of the cook. Spiked up to 300 for a time in the 4th hour, and then back down when I adjusted the vents. Probably should have pulled them off about 20 minutes before I did. They were still juicy but just a little overcooked IMO. Only the 2nd time I've done beef ribs on that smoker, so not bad.
  9. 1. You're speculating that someone made him post the tweet about the "other schools." Maybe someone did. Maybe not. 2. When do you think you'll be able to recover from what he did? Later this week sometime? The end of the year? Never?
  10. Was thinking the same thing. It's possible. 18YO kids sometimes do stupid things. It's possible (even common) for a youngster to do something stupid, and then make amends a minute later, esp. if someone has hauled them over to the curb about their stupidity so to speak. Not sure what happened with Finley. Hopefully he realizes that some of his actions weren't appropriate.
  11. Yeah, that cap toss move wasn't cool. Hopefully someone got in his ear and/or face after he did it. But I still think it's relatively uncommon (and classy) for a recruit to post complimentary things about the schools he decided not to attend after the decision is made public.
  12. Hoping for the best for all you folks directly impacted by this disaster. Thank you, Bob Lives!, for your generosity in doubling our donations.
  13. That's how he got his nickname?? You're shitting me. (;o)
  14. They've got to think of a different nickname for Raleigh. "Big Dumper" just makes me think of dropping a deuce.
  15. Cubs with 8 dingers through 7 innings today.
  16. Yes, statements by Hugh Freeze about playing by the rules, esp. in recruiting, can be given 100% credit.
  17. But that's just abysmal baserunning by the Cubs. Two guys get picked off 1B back-to-back? When's the last time that happened, for chrissakes? And Kelly had no business trying to score on the PB. As a catcher, he should know that backstop is close and that he doesn't have the wheels to get to the plate in time.
  18. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that over the past several years I see more and more instances of 18-wheelers and other large, slow-moving vehicles blithely puttering along in lanes in which they have no business being. Hey, you dumbass, slow-moving dipstick, get your ass over into the far right lane. *That's* the slow lane, i.e., where your slow ass belongs. And don't give me this shit about, "I'm in this lane so that it opens things up for people entering the freeway from on-ramps." Bullshit. I routinely see 18-wheelers in the center lane of 3-lane freeways even though the far right (#3) lane is wide open with no on-ramp in sight. Or worse yet, I routinely see trucks in the middle lane of 3-lane freeways going about the same speed as trucks in the right lane, which means that two out of three lanes are fucked up and everyone else is trying to get over into the #1 lane to pass their slow asses . . . which jams up the #1 lane. And don't even get me started about oblivious slow-moving motherfuckers in the fast lane who jam everything up behind them . . . I need to be the traffic czar for this nation. I guarantee I would fix some shit up real quick. Severe beatings for infractions of the types mentioned above would only be the starting point.
  19. The perceived issue with Dickel products is a Flintstones vitamin note in the taste. I haven’t really noticed it much, but then again I haven’t gone through too many bottles of Dickel.
  20. The Dirty Harry score he did was tremendous as well.
