  1. Oh yeah Mr. Smartypants? Check out this actual spy photo, recently taken at a top secret Chinese weapons contractor's R&D site...
  2. Yeah, just not getting those 5-7" rain totals across multiple counties like we need, to make any real dent in the lakes. Something is always better than nothing, but this isn't going to cut it for real improvement in the lakes. Still, the ground is primed and ready for mass runoff. If we DO get a major hit, it'll be glorious.
  3. Shoal Creek gonna get slaughtered. And all that water will pass Longhorn dam and head on down the river.
  4. Gastroctexan has spoken.
  5. Yeah no kidding. They practically invented that, because they had to. Other programs don't do it, because they don't need to.
  6. Ah, but the original quote stated "99% of the time this guy wasn't eating people." I believe that applies specifically to the actual consumption of people. I think it's a stretch to include meal prep and cleanup.

  8. Yeah the rain has been nice, especially in the Buchanan recharge zone, but what we really need is a 5+ inches across a wide swath of the recharge zones, all at once. With the ground already being saturated and ready for runoff, THAT would be the kind of event to get multiple streamflows up into the 10K-20K cfs range, which is what it takes to move the lakes feet at a time, rather than inches at a time.
  9. Agree. This infographic asserts that it's the first time since 1957. I saw it on Facebook so I assume it's true.
  10. I pulled the graphic down from COTA Facebook page.
  11. But that was a long time ago in Austin summer precipitation time. Now... it's never going to rain in Austin again.
  12. Yes, this. 2026 schedule is about 1 week earlier than normal, to be honest. This year in 2025 it goes from after Hungary on 8/3, resuming with Zandvoort on 8/31. Last year Spa was 7/28 and Zandvoort was 8/25. Similar for years prior.
  13. Not sure but to pay your player $5M without reporting, all you have to do is break it down into 8,348 smaller deals. Simple.
  14. Canada in May, Monaco in June. Sigh. On the bright side, with school-aged kids, Spa has never really been a realistic trip for me at the end of August. But in mid-July it becomes a lot more do-able. And I was already planning a Europe trip next summer. Bucket list might be getting one item shorter...
  15. Ugh. Solid red line of storms heading straight to Austin from the west since about 4 AM, and then... poof.
  16. Order a "beer" at a bar with no further specification.
  17. I once ate lunch at a table next to Al Pacino's at the Cafe Pontalba on Jackson Square in New Orleans. He was very polite to the waitstaff. I once ate dinner at a table next to Sandra Bullock at her restaurant, Bess. She had a big table for her family and my wife and I were at a 2-top right next to it. My slightly tipsy wife tried to take a picture of her by pretending she was taking a picture of me with Sandra's table in the background. The staff came by and discreetly and politely asked her to knock it off.
  18. So are these!
  19. I gave Jason Priestley a "what's up" nod at the Colorado Springs airport in 1995.
