  1. Hmmm, good topic. My pops bought a Canon AE-1 in 1979 which I inherited in 1994 and still own and shoot with. I don’t think I have my first cassette (night Ranger), but I do have the first CD I bought with my own money, Living Colour “Vivid” in 1988. I do have some of my folks’ records they bought new in the 60s and 70s.
  2. I agree. Nice colors and composition. Depending on how heavy you want to get with editing, you could separate the layers and get some definition out of the clouds. Hard shot with the light and clouds.
  3. Alright, trying to get used to Affinity Photo and editing some older photos that I had not edited (or at least don't recall editing). Home away from home in Brazil... Sanderson last year. Different version of the motel sign... New Mexico...
  4. Last weekend there were some at my folk’s house in Fulton.
  5. Oh, and the breakfast tacos at the Jalisco truck are good. Jalisco To‐Go (361) 557-1247 https://maps.app.goo.gl/qHsb9GaeWVJTW8Lq9?g_st=ic
  6. I’m gonna disagree on paradise key. Last meal there was garbage. Pier 77 is good and the plates are big. Note that they are cash only (there is an atm there). Steer burger is solid. Boiling pot was ok the last time I had crawfish, but certainly nothing like a backyard boil. Gnarly Marlin is good. Charlotte Plummer’s is mostly nostalgia, although the shrimp is still good. Cheesesteak at Chicago Hotdog is good. I HIGHLY recommend Butter’s BBQ in Sinton.
  7. You should try the free trial. I find the interface to remarkably similar to PS 2015. I haven't shot much lately, so I have been messing around with some old photos. Abandoned synagogue. Edited for a bright screen...

  9. Hope and Glory is one of my favorite WW2 movies. Ever since I was a kid. In fact, I was so frustrated the other day that I can’t buy a streaming copy, I ordered the blue ray. I mentioned in the movie you just watched thread that I watched it last night for the first time in like 15 years. Still a cool movie and not really fucked up in the sense of this thread.
  10. I’ve trained BJJ at several schools. The first thing they have said is to avoid conflict. Keep your distance. If someone is yelling at you, trying to get you to engage, don’t. Stand as far away as you can. When someone asks me something dumb like, how does BJJ do against multiple attackers, I say “not as well as training track and field”. Or triangles don’t work in a street fight. Well, yes and no. I wouldn’t suggest doing it in a street fight and most would agree. If you do that with multiple attackers, you are dead now. First rule is: don’t get in an altercation. Second rule is: your wallet, car, jewelry aren’t worth your life. You aren’t Jason Bourne.
  11. Correct. And Krav Maga, especially the strip mall variety, make people think they can handle it (as well as disarming assailants). It’s dangerous.
  12. Forgot to say, if you have any questions about BJJ, I’ll be more than happy to answer them.
  13. I started BJJ in 2006 and I do feel it can be great for self defense. Even the more sport/competition oriented academies teach some fundamental ideas that are useful in an altercation, such as keeping your distance. But yeah, the vast majority of the time, fights end up with people rolling around on the ground. It’s good to know how to control someone there. Do NOT take self defense that attempts to teach people they can disarm someone, whether it’s a gun or a knife. You will get hurt or die trying that bullshit. I have watched many Krav Maga classes where I just wanted to scream at everyone to not try that bullshit. If your back is absolutely against the wall and you have absolutely no choice, your base instinct will kick in. You will claw eyes, you will kick the attacker in the junk, you will bite. You don’t need Johnny strip mall teaching you that. if you think you can knife fight or disarm someone with a knife, give a friend a sharpie (take one of the dozen from your prison wallet) and have him/her pretend it’s a knife. See how much ink you have on you in the prices of trying to take it from them.
  14. The Emerald Forest. Probably haven’t watched it in 15 years.
  15. Have you tried the latest version of Affinity? At least for me it seems really similar to PS 2015.
  16. Well, in the next few weeks I am going to make the decision to abandon photoshop or not. Got a new laptop and my cracked version won’t work. I know, I know…pirates! Maybe some other gen X folks will get the reference. Anyways, downloaded the Affinity Photo 2 for a trial period. Then through the internet archive found the last free version of the Nik Collection, worked some voodoo and got that working. The interface is very similar to PS. Only edited a couple of photos so far, but I think it will work for me. Fuck subscription services.
  17. First time seeing a 40th anniversary model in the wild. Off 1960 in Houston.
  18. Not too much. I walked through the park by the Walmart where I have caught a Ratsnake before. Nada. Then flipped some tin at an abandoned farm in Sinton, again, nothing. Yeah, San Jose is full of rattlers from what I hear. I might stop off at Goose Island on the way home and see if anything is moving around.
  19. Oops, just remembered the regulations changed for Aransas Bay. So not a keeper.
  20. Down visiting my folks in Fulton with my brothers. Friday night was eerily calm and lots of hard heads. Last night was windy and rough. We caught a few specs. Only mine was a keeper at 15” and some change.
  21. Hahaha. That was for 5 people and there was a bit left over. Including one cup of elotes.
