Ebo had 11 and 8 and held Lee to 10 and 5

Matharu 16, JAT 10. Texas shot 36.5% against the second best defense in the league. Won rebounds 41-29 and 3 less turnovers. Winning formula, even with KSU going 19-23 from the stripe because Texas had 21 extra shots

Hells yes.

The Vic hire has been one of Texas' all time great moves.

This win and ISU’s win in Lawrence + OU’s win over TCU puts Texas, OU, and KU in a three way tie for 3rd at 10-5

KU: at Baylor, Texas, at OU

OU: KSU, at OSU, KU

Texas: TCU, at KU, OSU

I like our chances of grabbing that 3 seed in the Big 12 tournament

Outstanding. You can't help but feel the team is coming together at the right time. Moore with some good minutes tonight and Matharu as  @Js1 said back up to 16 in the scoring column.

I looked at this quickly but I think we're now T-4th in Q1 wins.

Texas has 8 Q1 wins.

Stanford has 15
SCe has 14
NC State has 10
OU has 9
Texas and Iowa have 8

Texas is 8-4 in Q1, 5-2 in Q2 for a combined 13-6 record in the top half.

I didn't scroll down all the way down to OU so that's the one I missed. Their resume is kind of odd.

No bad losses, a bunch of good wins, but #33 in NET.

Yeah their avg NET win is higher than ours (91 vs. 109), they had a stronger NCSOS (67 vs. 150) and our RPI SOS are nearly identical (33 for OU, 35 for Texas)

They have 2 more Q1 games than us and one more Q1 win than we do.  So the disparity between NET #7 and NET #33 is weird.

My only guess is OU has played a lot of close games.

I forget that is part of NET.    Their losing sucktitude factors in because when they lose, they get blown out in conf play

Texas winning margin in Big 12 games: 14.9 ppg (1 single digit win at Tech)
Texas losing margin in Big 12 games: 7.8 ppg (2 of 6 losses by 4 or less)

OU winning margin in Big 12 games: 13.4 ppg (5 single digit wins)
OU losing margin in Big 12 games: 17.6 ppg (all double digit losses)

Can someone please tell me why Anissa Gutierrez doesn't have her name on the back

But also there's been issues with jerseys and stuff - I assume supply chain issues.  VB setter SKT didn't get her jersey for like a month or two.

From Texassports:  "When Anissa joined the team, they did make the ask to Nike to get her a standard jersey with her name. Due to the nature of that timing and lasting supply chain issues from the pandemic, Nike was unable to provide this for this year despite the team’s best efforts."

So you are correct @Js1

Yup, this is also why Texas should run the score up and especially against good teams. When Texas blew out Iowa State they went from #8 in NET to #6 in NET.

Which is a substantial jump this late in the season based on one game and the fact Texas was already ranked so high.

Updated Bracketology with 3 regular season games to go.  Texas rises to a 2 seed (flip with Arizona)

  • Bridgeport: 1 NC State, 2 Michigan, 3 OU, 4 Tenn
  • Wichita: 1 Louisville, 2 Baylor, 3 Arizona, 4 Indiana
  • Greensboro: 1 South Carolina, 2 Iowa State, 3 UConn, 4 Maryland
  • Spokane: 1 Stanford, 2 Texas, 3 LSU, 4 Notre Dame

Princeton is a 10 in Bridgeport
KSU is an 8 in Wichita
Kansas is an 8 in Spokane

Texas' projected Austin subregional is:

7 Nebraska
10 Washington State

2 Texas
15 Jackson St.

Wow, didn't expect us to rise to a 2 but I think it's warranted based on the quality wins.

NET + Q1/Q2 record

1 seeds:
SCe 1 (21-1)
NC State 2 (18-3)
Stanford 3 (19-3)
Louisville 4 (16-3)

2 seeds:
Michigan 13 (12-4)
Baylor 10 (14-5)
Texas 7 (13-6)
Iowa State 9 (15-4)

3 seeds:
OU 32 (14-6)
Arizona 16 (12-6)
UConn 5 (14-4)
LSU 17 (15-4)

4 seeds:
Tenn 15 (17-6)
Indiana 19 (10-6)
Maryland 14 (10-7)
ND 18 (13-6)

OU is the odd one out of the top 16 based on NET, but not based on Q1/Q2 wins.  UConn has a 2 seed resume, but that Q3 loss on their resume is probably knocking them down a seed.  No one else seeded in the top 16 has a Q3 loss.

There's a couple top 16 NET teams who aren't in the top 16 for obvious reasons.  Too many Q3/Q4 games when most of the top 16 teams have around 5-7.

6 UNC - 22-5, but only 10-5 Q1/Q2. 12 games against Q3/Q4
8 BYU - 24-2, but only 9-2 Q1/Q2.  15 games against Q3/Q4
11 VT - 21-7, but only 9-7 Q1/Q2.  12 games against Q3/Q4
12 Oregon - 17-10, but 12-9 Q1/Q2 and a Q3 loss

Moral of the story - schedule tough (Q1 and Q2 games), blow out opponents when you can and you will be set up for success in terms of seeding.

Texas' NET would probably be 5 or 6 if we had actually played Arizona and not #94 San Diego.

I also clearly don't pay enough attention to those late night Pac 12 games because Arizona lost to 12-11 UCLA.  Hence their drop to a 3 and Texas' rise to a 2.

Thanks 'Cats!

Cool. So win out the regular season, don’t lose the first game of the tournament, and get a 2 seed somewhere.

Pretty much, yeah.

There's 3 games left for everyone.  Assume all favorites win their games, Texas finishes tied for 3rd in the Big 12 at 13-5 but holds the H2H over OU because we are 2-0 versus top seed ISU.

Texas would open the Big 12 tournament with #6 KU and then face Baylor in the semifinals.  We very likely lose that one (but who knows, we are playing very well).  But we still finish the season 9-3 since February 1, with the only losses to Baylor.  I don't think a Big 12 semifinals loss to Baylor would drop us a seed.

We are likely going to end up on Baylor's side regardless

  • All favorites win - Baylor is 2 and Texas is 3
  • Baylor beats ISU and Texas wins out, Baylor is 1 and Texas is 4
  • Baylor beats ISU and Texas loses to KU, Baylor is 1 and Texas is 4
  • Iowa State beats Baylor and Texas loses to KSU, Baylor is 2 and Texas is 4 (no semifinals rematch)

Texas ending up with a #3 Seed or better would be awesome.

Sure seems like this year is down in Women's Basketball -- really surprised to see three B12 teams currently projected as #2 Seeds.

Top of the Big 12 is really strong.

Everyone is chasing South Carolina, as usual

Yeah, but if Women's basketball was not down this season,  the B12 would not have three #2 Seeds.  It would be more likely the B12 would have one #2 Seed, one #3 Seed, and probably two #4 Seeds.

Agree that South Carolina is much, much, much better than 99% of the other teams. Still expect UConn to end up no lower than a #2 Seed.
