Not trying to panic, but it seems like things are starting to go sideways in a hurry for us in recruiting.

Didn’t someone say a while back that Sark is pretty checked out on recruiting 2027 or something of that nature?

When they land John Meredith they'll have the best DB haul for 27' for that class.  Then Tech will swoop in and grab the next level players and we'll take the 3*'s.  But it'll be OK, because the football board regulars will say Akina will coach em' up.

Yeah haven’t really been on here but every time im on twitter some 2027 is committing somewhere but here.

I chalked it up to being early but I think even some are already committing to Ohio state. Are they even trying?

The 26 recruiting board has been dead too, picked up a little recently but I thought it would’ve been more going on with all the coaches getting fired and us trying to flip.

I remember reading somewhere that Texas was Meredith’s favorite at one time but haven’t put in nearly the effort a&m has, which obviously led to them taking a giant lead in that recruitment.

Seems like the recruits are shifting their timelines to the left and Texas has failed to adjust… or they just got complacent and lazy.

2027 signing day is a long ways away, but given everything else that's going on, I think its fair to question how "all in" Sark and the staff are right now. The current roster construction is really flawed, if we don't hit this next transfer portal extra hard, I'd be ready to sound off a lot of alarms.

Big Opportunities for 2027 Recruiting with Final Home Games

***

It has been a difficult season to host recruits for the Longhorns this season, the schedule just was not very favorable in regards to hosting opportunities. Only six true home games in 2025, included three cupcakes at the beginning of the year where you had to battle the Texas heat. A hosting opportunity against top ten Vanderbilt, and now the two final games at the end of the season where going head to head with state playoffs is key, plus one of the largest holidays in the United States.

Also, having a full month away from home in the middle of the season certainly did not help the case either.

However, these next two weeks are massive opportunities for the Horns.

A 2:30 kickoff against Arkansas allows some additional time for out-of-staters to get to town, or for folks around the state to drive down to Austin after Friday night playoff games.

To me, these next two weeks are massive for the 2027 class. Yes, Texas is still putting the final touches on its 2026 class, and doing so at a pace that is sure to see another top five finish.

However, I view the recruiting calendar as one that is moving up quite a bit. We are seeing commitments at an earlier pace than previous cycles across the country.

Now, it is typically unlike Texas to stock up on the next cycle's class – save a quarterback – until the year flips. For the 2026 class, only Dia Bell and Chris Stewart committed before the flip of the calendar. However, that has not stopped rival programs from across the country from getting a head start on the upcoming cycle.

A couple of big dominos fell over the weekend.

Cibolo Steele DB Eli Johnson committed to Ohio State. Waxahachie DB JayQuan Snell committed to Texas A&M. Oklahoma also began receiving some predictions for former Longhorn commit LB Taven Epps to join their class.

Additionally, earlier in the month Westwood QB Kavian Bryant committed to Texas Tech, and Crowley WR Tay Ellis committed to Nebraska.

Looking across the board at the moment, it is evident that the recruiting calendar has sped up a bit.

  • Texas A&M – 7 commits
  • Oklahoma – 6 commits
  • Ohio State – 6 commits
  • Notre Dame – 6 commits
  • Georgia – 5 commits
  • Texas Tech – 4 commits
  • Alabama – 4 commits

Now again, we have seen the timeline for the Longhorns hold firm over the last few cycles. We have a pretty good understanding of when the Longhorns will begin pushing the envelope in the class. That will typically come at the turn of the calendar, and after the January Junior Day.

But these next two weekends are massive to begin swinging some momentum back in the favor of the Longhorns.

Texas is expected to host Basha (Az.) RB Noah Roberts, Libertyville (Il.) TE Brock Williams, Ruston (La.) Ahmad Hudson and Poquoson (Va.) OL Carter Jones for the Arkansas game on Saturday. A looming opportunity to begin generating some momentum in the class of 2027.

There will be plenty more visitors added to the list as the week progresses. But so far, that's a strong core of OOS prospects.

This is not meant to trigger alarm bells, more a layout type of opportunity this weekend possesses for the upcoming cycle. We know the timeline that Texas likes to follow as each cycle calendar refreshes.

Let's see what the staff has in store to conclude this season's home games at DKR.

are we even recruiting 27 kids at this point?

If what CTJ is saying is true, Sark’s not going to be the head coach at Texas for much longer. I can imagine recruiting '27 kids is pretty far down his list of concerns.

I've not kept up recently. Is it still Sarkisian to the NFL and more specifically the Tennessee Traitors?
