Well, he isn’t a winger and if he was he’d never start over Pulisic or Weah.  If we were playing a 433, where do you think he plays.

I'm talking about his potential and what we thought of him 3 years ago. When he went for over 30 million Euros. He was playing winger for the US. I don't think Weah was rated above him at that point. He was just as good as Pulisic at times.

Maybe we're talking past each other. I'm not trying to be a dick.

I think the biggest thing was that we saw Aaronson 3 years ago and thought the sky's the limit. His work rate and where he, was we expected big things. But what we didn't realize was that he was at or near his ceiling then, so he wasn't going to make too many more jumps.

Aaronson was so much better last night than he has ever been.

He plateaued and was definitely a candidate for a “Brenden Aaronson is not our standard!” flyover banner for the last 18 to 24 months, but last night he showed awareness, composure, and decisiveness at a level that we’ve never seen before.

The way he worked the Aussie defender into opening up so that he could send in a perfect nutmeg pass to Luna (that Diego didn’t life over the keeper for a sure goal) will sit with me for a while. That was Pulisic “feelin’ it” / “feelin’ himself” level bossing it in the final third.

Don’t know if we saw a one-off exceptional Brenden or if that is just his new level, but he was very impressive.

Aaronson has been playing pretty well in the prem this year even though it's not showing up on the stat sheet. Since he was put into the starting line-up, they have 4 points in 4 matches and should have had a draw against Fulham but lost it in stoppage time. I'd still like to have him on the squad, but I'm trying to figure out who I'd leave off to bring him in.

Lol we don't need 4 strikers. Especially if the 4th is Agyameng. I'd take another defender.

I wouldn't take Tessman and Roldan over LDLT and Cardoso.

Not a ton else to argue about.

I would think that Tessmann is a DM starter for Game 1 of the World Cup at this point, so I am not so sure that he will be left off the roster for two meh players

32 year old Walker Zimmerman???   He made the c team Gold Cup roster and played 5 minutes in 6 games.  One name people keep leaving out is Jack McGlynn.  Seems like Poch loves him.   Another thing I read, due to injury Pepi has never been called up under Poch.

And amazingly he has still played better at striker for the USMNT than anyone not named Balogun and Wright.

Yea I have a real hard time seeing Zimmerman making it at this point. Would rather bring in the young kid, Banks. I'd still like to see Johnny get a shot again in this new formation we're playing. Part of me wonders if that will fit him better. I know we're all victims of the moment with Roldan having a good showing, but I'm still not convinced Johnny won't be a better option if we can get his club version.

Both Gregggg and Poch seem to really like Roldan as a glue guy on the team. By all accounts, he's a mature leader and team-first type guy. I don't expect that he'll be playing much, if any. It doesn't bother me. I could definitely see Cardoso on the roster if he's healthy and in form next summer. I don't see what LDLT brings, though.

The Athletic (there's a whole writeup on that roster that I didn't post) mentions Zimmerman as a guy that they could put in for the final minutes if protecting a lead and wanting to bunker.

Pepi just cannot seem to stay healthy. It sucks, but it is what it is at this point.

LDLT, Cardoso, McGlynn are all listed as "in consideration" by The Athletic (along with several others including Scally, CCV, Berhalter, Reyna, and Sargent).

Personally, I'm the leader of the Surly Yunus Musah Fan Club, but I'm not seeing it at the moment. Seems like he has a lot of work to do. Looks like Atalanta has just been using him as a late game sub.

Pulisic will have his hamstring reevaled in 10 days. Fucking sucks for Milan.

Maybe we can quit bitching about him missing the Gold Cup now.

What are you? His dad?

And quit bitching?
