We are fucking leading MLB in team ERA. And in runs against. And in WHIP.

Maybe I'm not picking up on the sarcasm and this comment is a joke.

Oh - also - we're the best fielding team in baseball.

What does the defense have to do with the bullpen? I don't think the "bullpen needs pieces" is controversial, unless we want to keep rolling out Luke Jackson and Jacob Webb? Lack a shutdown closer, been carried by the starters which is great, but I don't think the bullpen is particularly strong nor does it do well in high leverage situations. 25/41 in save opportunities. Sorry that is such an upsetting take :(

If the defense and starting pitching is elite the pen does not need to be as good. That is basic math. Obviously the pen could be better but complaining about that after one game where they weren't good seems silly with this team. If we'd hit the ball worth a shit all season or just most of it we'd be 15 or 20 above .500 right now.

It's reactionary and missing the forest for the trees. If we can't score none of it matters. I mean we are 2 years removed from winning a WS with Leclerc as our closer ffs.

Sure you can say its basic math but bullpen is the position where the most deadline transactions happen, obviously I want pen improvement. We're riding 3 guys heavy (4 if you include Latz, but ideally he can be a long man). It's not just a one game issue either, abilities to keep traffic off the bases late in games has been an issue all year in close games.

I don't care about the ring 2 years ago in the context of the bullpen today, but if you want that, that's a bullpen that we added to at the deadline with Stratton and Champan, to a Will Smith and Brock Burke who were good pre-trade deadline, and Leclerc was a 1.2 WAR reliever with a sub-3.0 ERA (which probably only Latz has an ability to sniff this year). He legitimately had a great year and Sborz went from an over 5 ERA pitcher to sub-1 in the playoffs.

I'd just love for us to have more options in the pen so we don't have to see Luke Jackson, Jacob Webb, and Boushley the day after we roll our A guys (Martin, Milner, Garcia). Maybe the answer is Sborz or Gray kicking Kumar/Leiter to be a one inning guy, I don't know. But its a thin pen as we go into probably needing to go 40-27 :)

I don't disagree with any of that. I will say that we have had some of the best starting pitching in Rangers history which (should) lessen the load.

I maybe just needed some more context with your comment as to what you meant. Because the bullpen hasn't made me want to drill one of my eyes out or cost us who knows how many games like the shittastic hitting, baserunning and even unclutch fielding has.

I think mainly what I'm getting at is if the hitting was better all season we wouldn't really need to improve the pen much.

I'm sitting by the pool with a cold beverage listening to Faith No More.

Do I throw our audio feed on or keep enjoying the vibe and come into this one later on TV?

I don't know why I'm not making money on this team. We have a nice win where we look awesome then the next game we come out looking like a bunch of fucking dickheads.

It's unexplainable and happens like clockwork.

Fortunately we're at least in this one and it's early.
