Well everyone expected Spurs to get steamrolled. They didn’t just hang in there, they dictated much of the game. Yes it got away, like you all have said, a team like PSG isn’t going to rollover. They came storming back. Had they played the first 80 minutes like the last 10+, this game is like 6-0.

Bur moral victories still suck. To let this one slip away … FFFFFFUUUUUCCCCKKKKKK!!!!

As much as that was a kick to the nuts I am at least encouraged by the season.  I just pray Levy gives Frank and the club a few more tools

This. If that wasn’t evident by today’s game, I don’t know what would prove it to Levy.

encouraged for sure. legitimately dominated before subs... i think it shows we are a little bit of solid depth away. Super encouraged by Frank... brilliant plan

Shit. I really wanted that for you. Spurs dominated the first 70 minutes but didn’t have the depth off the bench to control possession down the stretch. Frank is a really good coach and guys like Kudus, Sarr, and Udogie can take a huge step up (probably half a dozen other guys as well).

One last thing - between the final whistle and the PKs, the studio crew was discussing this vs last year's team and how Spurs couldn't close out games and they were asking if this gave some vindication to Postecoglou.

To me - NO.

Spurs couldn't close out last year because they were run ragged by a lack of a cohesive plan and fell apart often at the end of games due to that lack of planning. One big problem was that they didn't defend well for most games.

Today we saw a very disciplined team against maybe the best team in the world. For 80 minutes the team had a clear shape, structure and mindset. PSG came alive late and turned up the pressure when the team was tired - but they were stymied up to that point.

IMHO if this team was Postecoglou coached, they don't have that early lead and maybe are trailing early. The clear gameplan by Frank had this team ready for this game and set up to take advantage early.

Again, the moral victory blows, but this showed that Spurs have a plan that didn't exist before.
