Pretty enormous amount of money in aggregate.

Minnesota, fraud epicenter.

"The magnitude cannot be overstated," Thompson said. "What we see in Minnesota is not a handful of bad actors committing crimes. It's staggering, industrial-scale fraud."

The five charged include two Philadelphia residents who have been accused of "fraud tourism" after they registered as Minnesota providers, Thompson said, adding that for them the scheme was "easy money."

"Minnesota has become a magnet for fraud, so much so that we have developed a fraud tourism industry – people coming to our state purely to exploit and defraud its programs," Thompson said. "This is a deeply unsettling reality that all Minnesotans should understand."

The two men, Anthony Waddel Jefferson and Lester Brown, were accused of siphoning millions from federally funded programs administered by Minnesota officials that were meant to help the disabled and those suffering from addiction, according to court filings.

They allegedly fleeced the housing program in Minnesota despite "living on the other side of the country and having no network in or connections to Minnesota or its communities," the filings stated.

Yeah. I'm calling bullshit. From the release, it sounds like they are using some pretty skin level data analysis.

So the crime indicted there is about 2.1 million and there's rank speculation that it's half of the Minnesota outlay.

They also took shots at Somalians.

That is not standard DOJ material to speculate about unindicted crime.

This reeks of Trumpian bullshit.

And this guy talking, Joe Thompson, is the First Assistant US Attorney, who is usually a pretty apolitical civil servant, an actual prosecutor/trial lawyer.

In this case, he's another expired US Attorney appointment from Trump, so a complete Trump hack.

An article from Reason https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trumps-somali-insults-disgrace-123045459.html

This gives you the idea that all of this is more or less cooked up.

The Trump administration digs around for some minority group, preferably black, to shit on, and finds some ostensible reason to do so, whether factual or not.

And then turns it into eating cats and dogs.

And, this would seem to be a sign of Bari Weiss' CBS news following the script.

And if it's not, I'd be willing to bet it's Trump backers who profited from the scam.

Trump:  ""Why is it we only take people from sh**hole countries, right, why can't we have some people from Norway, Sweden, just a few…We always take people from Somalia, places that are a disaster, dirty, filthy, disgusting, ridden with crime."

Having spent quite a bit of time in Norway, I'll tell you why Donald: why would anybody move from Norway to a shithole country like the United States?   That's exactly what any of my Norwegian friends would say, though they might be too polite to say it.

Come on man. You know that half of the state's Medicaid payments being fraud is an absolutely absurd claim. As an officer of the court, you know that is an absolutely insane allegation without substantial evidence. Read that release and tell me you actually believe they have any. They did the most cursory of reviews of the data and came up with ridiculous conclusions.
