  1. The easy explanation is that we took Lacey because we liked him, he wanted to commit, and we had dreams of a Lacey/Ryan Williams combo. Russell wasn't really in the picture at that time. Now Russell has blown up, we decided we really like him, and the plan is to recruit both guys hard and let the chips fall where they may. The puzzle piece that doesn't fit for me is that Lacey was kind of shaky for a while but lately appears to be getting firmer in his commitment, if anything. He canceled his other OVs. The trend is the opposite of what you'd expect given the situation.
  2. It appears that Baltimore is a huge port for roll-on/roll-off cargo. Not just cars, but construction and farm equipment also. It's pretty interesting on Google Maps, you can see a ton of excavators and stuff like that parked there at the port. Containers should be able to go to other east coast ports without too much trouble (trucking will probably cause some headaches), but I wonder if the facilities and capacity exist elsewhere to offload all the cars and machinery that usually go to Baltimore.
  3. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but it seems like there is a huge difference between this: and this: Francis_Scott_Key_Bridge_Eastern_View.jpg.webp
  4. Yeah, obviously first thought it with the lives lost. But beyond that, this seems like it is going to fuck up the Baltimore area pretty good, and for quite a while. I assume the port is completely closed until the debris can be cleared, which will take what, weeks? Rebuilding the bridge will take years. Looking at Google Maps, just across the bridge are a bunch of warehouses and distribution centers - Amazon, Fedex, Home Depot, looks like a big VW entry point. A lot of economically important traffic must flow over this bridge every single day.
  5. I didn't get a notification from this post. I'm game, just gotta know when and where. Are we doing NL-only?
  6. Personally, I buy iPhones because Apple's core business is selling me devices, whereas Google's core business is showing me ads. Whether it's justified or not, that leads me to trust Apple with my privacy more than I do Google. I'm not exactly an Apple fanboy. I find the notion of giving a fuck about any megacorporation ludicrous. I do however have concerns that forcing Apple to do this or that could ultimately lead to unnecessary enshittification of its platform. Apple's walled garden may very well be anticompetitive, but it has also caused a lot of consternation for other tech companies that see me as a product rather than a user (thinking mainly about Meta's complaints about tracking on iOS devices). I view that as a win.
  7. Two pilots on board at the time of collision, per news reports.
  8. Think he means this guy. His film is real good. He can really move. There is one funny play where he gets blown 5 yards off the LOS but he still makes the tackle (1:20). Not sure I would have put that one in there. https://247sports.com/Player/matai-tagoai-46136825/
  9. I'm having a hard time reading between the lines about what's going on at QB. Lacey and Russell both say the right things about being in a 2-man class but that seems pretty far fetched in this day and age. So you'd say OK, maybe Russell is just the Lacey insurance policy. But if anything, the latest updates on Lacey indicate a guy that's getting more solid, not less. Not to mention that they're different players - Russell is significantly bigger and much more of a running threat. Russell's tape looks pretty legit to me. No offense to SMU, but I think he's destined for bigger and better things, whether it's us or someone else.
  10. Interesting snippet from the article: Killing 346 mostly brown people = "lol these non-Western pilots suck" Door falls off above Portland, no injuries = "WATERSHED MOMENT!"
  11. Concur. First games are Thursday.
  12. It’s a Wu-Tang kind of day in the tokamak household. Do any of y’all ever stop and think how fucking absurd it is that all these guys ended up in the same group? Or is that just me? Pretty much all of these guys would have been (are) legends on their own.
  13. Reports say that the interpreter made $300-$500k. Would a bookie really let that kind of guy run up LOSSES of $4.5m (implying that his total action was much more, unless he’s the worst picker of all time)? Seems like, at bare minimum he’d have to really heavily imply that Ohtani was backing him up.
  14. Really hoping we can get this dude 50+ pass attempts in real game action this year. If we're up 3 scores in the 4th quarter on anybody, it needs to be Arch time and it needs to be the full offense.
  15. "ChatGPT, please write 6 months' worth of very positive blurbs about a young WR that we definitely recruited over this offseason but would like to keep around anyway" Bobby working smarter, not harder
  16. Sounds like they have the bookie dead to rights on accepting $4.5m+ in illegal bets. I bet they can compel him to say a whole lot.
  17. Man Bobby could fill up a fucking oil tanker with all his Kool-Aid right now. I'm half expecting a "Could the 2024 Texas Longhorns beat the Carolina Panthers?" article soon.
  18. If this is how it went down, I don't think he paid off the $4.5m cuz they're friends. He paid it off because not paying it off is an even worse option for everyone involved. We might have never known about any of this if the feds hadn't gotten interested in this particular bookie.
  19. I dunno what you're talking about, this is some highly entertaining shit. Great memes.
  20. You’re young and you got your health, what do you want with a job?
  21. What's really interesting to me in the QB discussion is that there is hardly any middle class of veteran QBs. There's basically 3 classes of QB in the NFL: guys on rookie deals making reasonable money veteran backups making reasonable money veteran starters making stratospheric money whether they deserve it or not Looking at OverTheCap, there is exactly 1 QB in the entire NFL with a contract AAV that falls between $33m and $13m (Geno Smith making $25m/year).
  22. I know it’s a spring trope but from the pics it really does seem like we have a bunch of guys that are absolutely rocked up. Offseason S&C program been putting in the work.
