  1. Here's the blurb from the article on Hill:
  2. Pretty interesting that he's got Turntine and 4 juniors at OL.
  3. I'm trying.... Summer recruiting is over, pretty much everyone is committed, so from now on it's flips/late bloomers/2027 dudes reclassifying. QB - Done. Just hang on to Bell. RB - See QB. Lots of speculation that we'd stay on Edwards for a 2 back class, but Bobby squashed that the other day. Just hang on to Cooper seems to be the plan. WR - Definitely need 1 more. Not sure where they plan to play Bishop. Reporting is that they'll stay on Lott. Ship has probably sailed with Finley. Paris Melvin possibly on the back burner. TE - Seems like they wanted 1 elite guy and couldn't find one/land one. Depth chart is pretty young and talented. Supposedly there's a 5-star 2027 guy that's high on us. I bet we just shut it down here. IOL - Personally I think we gotta have at least 1, maybe 2. Haven't seen much but I bet we stay in contact with the two aggy guys. We passed on Katoa. I bet a new name or two emerges here eventually. OT - Need 1. Seems like Lee is the target. I'm sure there's a backup plan but damned if I know what it is. DT - I'm sure we'll have our work cut out holding on to all 4 of these OOS guys. This seems like a spot where they'll always take another guy if they can. EG - Henderson or bust? Need another IMO but they're not gonna take a guy that can't contribute. LB - Hang on to Atkinson. Otherwise done? CB - Early emergence of Littleton reduces the need here. Still I'd think 1 more would be ideal. No names. S - By all acounts, staying on Benjamin. So I'm still expecting 1 WR, 1 IOL, 1 OT, 1 EG, 1 CB, and 1 S. That'd give us 27 including the three specialists. IMO the biggest remaining needs are at OL and DB.
  4. The auction is like 90% art that looks exactly like it belongs in a mid-range hotel room. Unless you're looking for a 7 ft statue of an Asian lion, or a $380 rock, you can probably do better down at your local Hobby Lobby.
  5. Great find. I’ve been looking to spend $380 on a fucking rock and finally I get my chance.
  6. Those people aren't dummies and they know the same thing you just typed. It's only a problem until the next time they have an audience with Trump.
  7. What's his surly username?
  8. I’m in at a hundo. $200 is probably more than I’d want to do.
  9. I haven't watched a second of preseason, and normally your point would be well taken, but poor preseason performance kinda confirms what we already knew about this team being pretty bad on paper. The OL, RBs, DL, and secondary all look like they will be well below average. Passing game should be fine but they're not going to be able to run the ball at all.
  10. Can confirm that it's in the fall camp thread
  11. I'm not sure what you mean, am I having a brain fart?
  12. Do does our staff like Ojo more as a prospect than Lee? After he committed, IIRC there was quite a bit of (sour grape-y?) discussion that Ojo is super raw, hasn't been great at camps, etc.
  13. The new JID album that came out last week is predictably great.
  14. We could also discuss switching to Yahoo next year if people feel strongly. I used to think that Yahoo >>> ESPN, but I've kinda gotten used to ESPN at this point so I don't really care either way now.
  15. Pretty sure Surly already has a H2H league. Guess there's nothing in the rulebook that says we can't have two. I'm certainly open to discussing rule/format changes for next year. Like I said up above, one idea I had was to do 1st and 2nd half winners. I'd have to track it outside of ESPN's software, but I don't think it'd be too difficult. For whatever reason, this thread doesn't pop up on my activity feed when someone replies. Probably user error. If y'all have concerns you can always PM me on Surly or message me through the league, I'd see those for sure.
  16. Is there a Surly league? My main league finally died this year.
  17. That definitely takes some cojones, though.
  18. Pretty interesting note from Bobby on Cooper/Edwards (via @MuellerHorn in the fall camp thread)
  19. There's a "Big 9" this year, then a steep dropoff between #9 and #10 in both betting odds and preseason poll points. It would be a big surprise for the eventual champion to come from outside of these 9. I did the ratio of current championship odds to current RSVP price. A higher number represents better "value" although I don't think the absolute number means much (i.e., Oregon is not a ~20x "better" value than Texas). I don't think that Texas, OSU, and Clemson have much to gain or lose from their Week 1 games (unless it's a total blowout one way or the other). However, I think LSU is poised to get a very nice pop if they can pull off the road upset (they are 3.5 point dogs).
  20. We all know this, but looking at this list it's really striking how in this era you're either going to be a key contributor, or you're going to move on. 2022 is all settled (I think they've always liked Robertson as flexible depth), for 2023 only Stroh and Randle remain on the fence, and 2024 pretty much just Hills like you mentioned and maybe JJR (but he's trending toward contributing).
  21. Yeah, no sour grapes but from day 1 it seemed to me that we liked Finley as a prospect, but didn't love him.
  22. Yeah I didn't bother today. I'll wait a few days or weeks and let the dust settle.
  23. Second team: Not one single player on offense. Doomed.
