  1. You have to strike while the iron is hot (i.e., after beating Alabama).
  2. CSU blew this game when they decided to punt in plus territory on 4th and less than 2.
  3. The whole point is that the Pac 12 (and the 10 leaving schools) are/were saying they were still acting directors and were likely to vote to dissolve the conference after this season. WSU and OSU cannot risk that happening, so they had to get an injunction to prevent it - which they successfully obtained. Just letting the meeting go forward would be the equivalent of when the Pac 12 decided they did not need to get anything in the Alliance in writing.
  4. LOL, forgot to include the take:
  5. On the heals of attending the game at Bama, I am on a bit of a football high and planning on taking my 3 year old to his first football game tomorrow night when UVA travels to Maryland. I would have loved to take him to Bama, but figured the flights and tailgating would have been way to much for him. This seems like a better starter game. They will be playing at their real stadium on campus and not the monstrosity in Landover that the Texas game was at, so I have no experience with the immediate area or gameday experience. Has anyone been there and have any thoughts on parking, any issues with bringing a small child, wearing visitor's gear, etc.? My guess is that UVA will get trounced, as they have looked awful and Maryland is 14.5 point favorites, but it should be fun to check out the stadium and let my son enjoy the experience.
  6. I agree with this take. Trying to beat Coach Prime at his own game may not be the best strategy (but to be honest, what is there to lose as 20+ point underdogs), but it is certainly the most fun strategy. My wife went to CU and hasn't cared about CU football since the scandals of the early 2000s, but its more interesting when the CU-CSU rivalry is interesting (if not competitive).
  7. What? I was suggesting that he was not a retread... A long-time assistant coach that finally gets a chance at a head coaching job and even moves up after a few years is inspiring - not what I think of when I think of retreads.
  8. Cook only had two snaps and one of them was the early celebration of Worthy's TD? That's hilarious. He made the most of his screen-time.
  9. Does he count as a retread if he worked his way up to finally getting a chance as a head coach and has had some success doing it? Either way, it's probably not a good idea to piss off Deon before their game, but I have no problem with it. They are going to be underdogs anyway, might as well get as much media for the coach and program as you can for the week and see if you can't ruffle some feathers.
  10. I definitely understand the frustration for the athletes, but UNC and Mack Brown did it to themselves. UNC and Mack Brown (along with almost every other school and coach) spent a ton of time demanding the NCAA do something about the rampant transfers and so they did something. Then as soon as their player is blocked from playing immediately, they cry about how unfair it is. Coaches want the NCAA to block transfers out of their program but not into their program.
  11. They didn't start any of the light show stuff until it got dark. I think the phone thing was in the late 3rd quarter, but the first light show aspect was either late first quarter or early second quarter.
  12. There were areas that we’re lit, but the teams didn’t always meet in those areas.
  13. I thought it was pretty fun in person, but I did have the same thought about the players seeing anything during timeout huddles. At least one of the players commented that they couldn't wait to see it in DKR, so it must not have bothered them too much.
  14. I went to the game with a couple of Bama fans and almost everyone was great. I've never seen so many people doing horns down in my life, but to be honest, it just seems like horns down is having a cultural moment. It was always pretty rare at away games in the past (Notre Dame, Cal, Ole Miss, Maryland, WVU). I have not been to the OU game in almost 20 years, but even at the State Fair it didn't seem as prevalent as in Tuscaloosa, where almost everyone did it when I walked by. Other than that, though, no one was mean or intimidating at all - it all seemed like it was in good fun. On a side note, we were on the opposite sideline upperdeck from the two bands, but I think I heard the Texas band more than the Bama band. They were able to be heard all through the stadium for most of the fourth quarter.
  15. I imagine that timing in the program plays a role in that as well. Texas was likely more willing to take a chance last year and especially a couple of years ago then they are now that this thing seems to be rolling and there is less desperation.
  16. I’m sure they are not going to do that, but the bylaws can certainly be changed by a vote of 100% of the membership.

  18. I’m not sure if Sark needs to give up some of the play calling duties, but he should probably give up the custodial and maintenance staff duties.
  19. My flight was cancelled. Finally got on a flight to Charlotte, but we’re sitting at the gate now. At least I got to meet some nice Texas fans while waiting on standby. John Cornyn (no CR) will be at the game.
  20. I feel bad for the player, but I definitely don't feel bad for the coaches like Mack and the schools who have been complaining about the transfer portal and demanding the NCAA reign it in.
  21. I am assuming that JT Daniels did not need a waiver for his last two transfers because he was a graduate transfer - twice. He graduated from Georgia and then transferred to WVU and then he graduated from WVU and then transferred to Rice.
  22. Anyone staying in Birmingham and considering hitting up one of the Barons' games this weekend?
  23. I'm not going to look it up and do the math, but my guess is that any difference is more than accounted for by the fact that he has played most of his former assistants after he got Bama really humming and a lot of those other losses are in the first few years.
  24. Elko doesn't have any ties to A&M other than working under Jimbo, right? How often do coaches who worked for a school under a coach come back to that school to take the job of the coach that hired them after that coach is fired? It seems like a pretty unusual situation.
