  1. I am sorry you assholes have to deal with this 3rd world shit. But in the misery is an opportunity. One of you could use this as an excuse to pre-emptively kill Alex Jones before he eats your ass.
  2. Couldn’t resist the 1968 Gibson LG-1 that showed up on FB marketplace. I don’t know if I’ll keep it or list on reverb to make a couple bucks towards a different small acoustic. It’s got the narrow 1 5/8” nut I don’t care for. Fingers all scrunched up trying to make a cowboy chord. But it’s beautiful, in good shape, sounds great and plays better than 5 LG-1s I tried out at Austin Vintage Guitars last week. Love the checking on this thing.
  3. My brother had a 335 he bought sit in some UPS distribution warehouse in Texas for ~week during the last coldpocalypse Austin had. When he finally got it, he let it sit for 24 hours before opening the box and there were no issues. I've never done that before, but I probably will this time around just to err on the safe side.
  4. I'm in the same boat. Austin Vintage Guitars gave UPS a package for me on Monday, it's still in limbo and doesn't look like its moved from Austin. Hope all you fuckers in ATX are ok & weathering the storm playing your acoustics.
  5. Devil is tempting me with this one that showed up nearby on Facebook marketplace. Going to go play it tomorrow.
  6. Lotta good stuff from the 70s already mentioned, but will offer up The Joker by Steve Miller band. Here’s some post 70s that will fit on your playlist. Change - Blind Mellon Hard Sun - Indio Beg Steal or Borrow - Ray Lamontagne Loner - Ekoustic Hookah Closer to the Sun - Slightly Stoopid Lucky Man - The Verve Vagabond - Wolfmother
  7. Exactly. In a few years when American History textbooks are written that include information about the Trump presidency, what are those textbooks going to say in Texas vs Colorado? What is going to be taught in government and civics about January 6th in Florida vs California?
  8. Media education in the US will be like any other government subsidized education here. If the people at the steering wheel in your state start with the presumption that it’s viable and are willing to fund its operation and let the experts run it, it will be good to great. If the people in control instead start with the presumption that it’s unviable and work to control the curriculum and defund it’s operation, it will surely suck. The national government isn’t really an option because group 2 will be in control again at some point and undo anything group 1 did previously. Tl:dr what works in Finland isn’t necessarily going to work here where one of our two parties actively uses misinformation and strives for a dumber, less educated populace so their misinformation goes unchallenged in the minds of the masses.
  9. So speaking of my daughter’s bumblebee guitar… with her getting that, both my kids that play have now officially outgrown the squire mini strat they shared while little. I am pretty sure it works fine (I need to plug it in and make sure), but is covered in stickers and kid snot and needs a new bridge saddle screw for the 1st string. If any of you guys have a younger kid that needs a guitar, you can just have it. Lemme know.
  10. @G650 any chance you have some pics of your ‘58 LP in the state you bought it in so we can see a before and after when your restore is done?
  11. Meanwhile, somewhere JoeB be like…
  12. I think you are right about the poster with a 59 or something in the burst era, but we don't get to ogle it, so who knows if it realllly exists
  13. I dunno, man. I bet you'll give her a run for her money when your project is done and you first look at the result.
  14. I think you just won this thread, @G650. I would love to see any updates through the process.
  15. Your concern for the size of my deck is appreciated, but not necessary 😜
  16. I dunno what you are talking about. That’s a gorgeous finish, @G650. I fucked around and found out again. The other Highway 1 is still at the tech, and this one lept into my arms from guitar center. Its a fender special run in two tone sunburst and has none of the issues I am having fixed with the first. It’s just a bad ass player and the neck is perfect for me. I opened it up tonight to see what I had bought, and lo and behold, whoever sold it to GC had already put some custom shop pups in it. No idea what they are, but they sound pretty good to me. I’ll get the other one back, play em side by side for awhile, keep the best of the two and sell the other. I am going to be surprised if this ain’t the one, though. It’s a better strat for me than any others I’ve owned or played and that’s including a fucking Silver Sky, heh.
  17. Oh, was she doing something that requires musical timing? I didn't notice.
  18. Fuck yes, I’ll do what she tells me

    Jeff Beck RIP

Another Jeff Beck piece that moves me (may be Lizzie Ball on violin, though)
  20. Sounds like a harmonic + trem bar to first pitch up then down at the end to give the note a vocal/human quality to me.

    Jeff Beck RIP

This is worth a watch. It really demonstrates Jeff Beck's unique and beautiful voice on the guitar. The vibrato, volume swells, pitch gymnastics with the tremolo bar and finding different harmonics all over the place. There is so much nuance in every note he's playing here, and the sounds he creates and emotion he projects reminds me more of Edith Piaf singing than a guitar god soloing. It's the anti-Eruption, but no less stunning to me.
