  1. Truth. It's a special kind of intellectually lazy stupid that I particularly loathe. It's a dangerous, malignant stupidity, which betrays an intentional ignorance that is impossible for me to comprehend. There are ~ 900 described species of dinosaur (not counting birds). The ark was supposedly ~ 440×72×43 ft. I've excavated a single sauropod sacrum (middle hip bone) that was 10 feet wide by itself. The whole animal would have been around 100 feet long and 50 tons. There are probably at least a dozen known dinosaur species in this size range. There are many, many other stupidly huge species as well. It's like someone saying they put the actual Mt. Rushmore in their pocket for show and tell. If someone went around insisting on that, we'd institutionalize them, but we're letting someone that stupid and intellectually dishonest be 2 heart beats from the Presidency. This really is the dumbest timeline.
  2. Spot on. It's disgusting contempt for the lives of other Americans. The number of dead citizens they are okay with as long as they get to keep their guns is ∞.
  3. Not just gay marriage. Dude is flat out anti any premarital "sexual conduct". I don't mean to diminish the very real threat the GQP poses to our LGBTQ+ posters, but I want to focus on the implications of that broader statement. Saying pre-marital sexual conduct is evil and that states can discourage it is extreme Christofascist bullshit. Also he's a lawyer who is watching his language. He's usually very precise in how he says things. Note he didn't just call out premarital sex, he specifically said ALL "sexual conduct outside marriage" is evil and governments have the right to discourage that "evil". That is really broad. He just skipped quite a few places on the "First they came for the _____" list. As awful as he is, the GQP forcing Mike Johnson's Puritanical values on the rest of us is doing everyone a massive favor, because it's ripping the cover back quickly to show what's underneath. I actually appreciate his hubris and audacity, because the enablers love to say that these kind of posts are hyperbole, while Johnson's own words show that the threat is very real and represents a threat to all of us. We're at the "they are coming for us" part of the list while there are still a lot of us left. We have to hope enough of us are listening to do something about it while we still can.
  4. We have never needed a vomiting rep response as much as we do right now.
  5. Those factories should already be 2 foot tall piles of dust. Killing the supply chain for Iranian drones and missiles is much cheaper and more effective than trying to knock all the missiles and drones down once launched against our troops, Israel and Ukraine. We also need to add much more severe sanctions against anyone supplying the Iranian/Russian missile and drone programs, as well as add substantial prison time for any executives from Western companies that attempt to circumvent sanctions. Further, we need to figure out what we can do to aid the Iranian people in overthrowing the mullahs. Proportional responses don't work with fuckwads like Iranian leadership. We can escalate WAY past what the mullahs can. It's time to remind them.
  6. I'm surprised she can pronounce insurrection on the first try. It's not easy to make human noises with a caveman hyoid bone.
  7. Goddamit. I was going to be lazy this year, but if these Baba Yuckos are against it, I guess I have to put up the Halloween decorations. Slava Ukraine and Slava Samhain motherfuckers.
  8. Scratch off #2. He's one of the seditious fucks MOST responsible for trying to overturn the election. The other seditious fucks approve of him, or are too stupid to look even slightly into his record.
  9. Elon could partially redeem himself by launching Trump as the first man to Mars, but actually he just has to clear orbit and run out of fuel. Alternatively, Elon could always do the Elon thing and blow him up during launch. That works too.
  10. In Kinzinger's defense, at least it's the proper framing. Republicans theoretically have the majority. If they cannot chose a Speaker and govern, it is on THEM to approach the Democrats and offer something that seriously moves the needle for Dems, WITH guarantees that make it virtually impossible for the Republicans to lie and back out of, which they would otherwise 100% attempt to do. Which brings us back to the same place. The only thing approaching impossible for Republican reps to back out of is formally switching parties. Based on repeated Republican lies, backstabbing and ratfuckery, Democrats would be colossally stupid to give anyone still calling themselves Republican any benefit of the doubt.
  11. Agreed. Same as the assholes that put a cross/fish on every sign and business card, while making sure to pull the cross out of their shirt so it's prominently visible. If you have to do this, it's because your actions clearly stamp you as a shitbag.
  12. This is the crux of the problem. The GQP is determined to crash the car in the ditch. We're sitting in the back, with the establishment GOP in the passenger seat pretending like they are driving. Unless the establishment GOP grabs the wheel away, something they have been unwilling to do, the GQP is going to put the car in the ditch. Democrats didn't create the problem and Democrats cannot do anything about it until at least 5 people flip, or the next election, whichever comes first. The only thing the Dems can do is fasten our seat belts, brace ourselves for impact, and try to warn people from getting in the car with lunatics in the future.
  13. This is a great analogy that I'm going to continue a bit further. This has exclusively become a team sport for many Republican voters and there is nothing that splits a fanbase like a quarterback controversy. That's what the Republicans have on their hands, with no viable QB on the roster, or available in the draft/free agency/portal. Some of you are asking the Democrats to send their own QB coach over to tutor the Republican disaster. No one would, or should do this. If the + Biden district reps want a functional team and QB, they have free agency/the portal sitting right there available to them. They can switch teams and get to work, or get ready for retirement in 2024.
  14. Both sides is a loaded term, because it's always a bullshit copout that obfuscates the actual problem and dissuades us from attempting to fix the actual problem. Our massive deficits are because the Republican solution to everything for over 40 years has been to cut taxes on corporations and the ultra-wealthy, while exploding spending using their 2 Santas philosophy. https://www.salon.com/2018/02/12/thom-hartmann-how-the-gop-used-a-two-santa-clauses-tactic-to-con-america-for-nearly-40-years_partner/ Republicans have spent 4 decades intentionally, and systematically, underfunding the government and not paying for the huge amounts of spending THEY have authorized. It's blatant dishonesty and and shameless politics. We only hear Republicans cry about spending when the President is a Democrat. Our deficits under Republicans explode, while the deficits contract under Democratic presidents.
  15. Saying the Dems could have changed this is using Republican framing. First, you're assuming that the Dems could even fix this, when they likely can't. Neither the GQP, or the GOP are operating in good faith. If the Dems announce they are amenable to compromise and would support a particular candidate, any GOP support for that person will immediately evaporate the second the Dems come out in favor of them. It only leaves Dems looking stupid and impotent, with blame falling on them for what is currently exclusively a GOP/GQP feud. Dems have been remarkably consistent and should stay the course and watch the GOP/GQP fracture. IF the + Biden district reps ever want to be elected again, they can flip parties to the only functional one in existence, or they can reap the consequences of their own failures and get voted out. The future of Democracy itself is on the line and we need to take the chemo sometime. It's always better to do it as soon as possible, before it metastasizes further.
  16. Even if he's the best of the worst, he's still part of the worst. He may have voted to certify the election, but he's repeatedly tried to spread doubt about the legitimacy of the election, mail in votes and voter ID. https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/23/politics/tom-emmer-2020-election-kfile/index.html The ONLY chance the country has is to splinter the anti-democracy coalition, which they are in the middle of doing for us in full public view. If they aren't splintered, the GQP will shut down the country again, probably multiple times. All we can do is pick the time. Make them do it now when the facts are so clearly against them. They will take more shots at democracy until they kill it. Make them shoot now, before they have a chance to regroup, get on the same page and plan better. Do not interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake. Let them burn their own party down around themselves. It's the only chance we have to stop them from burning the country down.
  17. No one does shit for the good of the country any more. You'd have a higher chance of success looking for GOP Reps that DON'T want to retire. Any Speaker Gaetz and the hateful 8 would agree to is political suicide reps from + Biden districts. Government funding runs out Nov 17th. The longer this goes, the higher the pressure gets on the +Biden district reps who want to keep getting elected. If the government shuts down over this, they are fucked and their political careers are over. Either they flip now, in exchange for some favored legislation, 2024 protection and national funding, or the Dems flip the seat in 2024. Either way, this is a win for the Dems, who are playing it perfectly and should keep letting the pressure build. If the GQP is going to light their own party on fire, the Democrats should sit back and make S'mores.
  18. 20 - 25 Republicans are willing to go public with their opposition to Jordan. 122 of them are willing to do so secretly. Not that we didn't know it, but this spells out very clearly at least 4/5 House Republicans are fucking cowards that would sacrifice the welfare of the country for personal gain. Damn, y'all are just roasting McHenry.
  19. That narrowed it down a ton. "I'll pay for his movers and send a nice thank you card. Good guy. Just not the guy we need in the SEC. " Seems pretty definitive.
  20. I'm not going to search posts to find it, but I remember @ChiTownDoc expressing this sentiment and being confident OU wouldn't slip much when Riley left. He's definitely been consistent on this issue. Riley is clearly one of the top offensive minds in football, but he had all these same issues during his OU tenure and imported them with him unchanged. USC fans expectation when hiring him was that Riley would at least come close to replicating Pete Carroll's run. After Helton's tenure, they will not be patient with Riley on this. If Riley doesn't go NFL, or replace Grinch and Wylie in the offseason, his seat will become white hot next season without Caleb Williams. I think Riley is going to try like hell to go to the NFL. He certainly isn't recruiting like he intends to stay at USC.
