  1. Yep. I read September as January. Ban user, etc.
  2. Roberts (appointed during W's first term). Oops. Strike that. I got my years wrong. He was nominated in 2005.
  3. Watch out! You're gonna lose control.
  4. According to the petitioner, no. "Officer of the United States is a term of art limited to officials who are appointed, not the elected offices of President and Vice President."
  5. Different argument. Whether the President is an "officer of the united states" is a different issue from whether section 3 creates a qualification that can only be enforced once the president attains the office (office and officer being two different terms). The argument he was making is that it is premature to prevent him from being on the ballot if he has the chance to become qualified (for example by virtue of 2/3 of Congress vote).
  6. It's actually an interesting argument, contending that Section 3 is distinct from the age and term limit qualifications. And this.
  7. Current argument is that the amendment doesn't apply to candidates but only disqualifies someone after they've obtained the office from "holding" the office.
  8. That article I posted does a deep dive and is very informative. It's probably already been posted in this thread. His serious eats sous vide guides are excellent. (although I've come to the conclusion that you don't need to rest steaks that have been cooked sous vide; you can cut and serve immediately after searing with no loss of moisture).
  9. The temperature will dictate the color (doneness), not the length of time (once the meat has fully gotten to that temperature). 2 hours is probably sufficient for most cuts of ribeye, but if you go super thick (over 2") then you would want to add a little time to make sure it fully heats all the way through. Length of time beyond that will only affect texture. I think Kenji Lopez-Alt did something on this a while back that suggested fattier steak cuts don't improve after that time frame, and if they go too long the meat can take on a mealy texture. 10. I mean, it's not like they're creating a risk of a drug-resistant strain by taking it, unlike those who put their kids on antibiotics at the first sign of a sniffle (and then don't even complete the course of treatment).
  11. So far I've got: 2023 - American Fiction, Holdovers, Oppenheimer (still need to see Past Lives, Zone of Interest, Poor Things) 2022 - Banshees (and nothing else came close) 2021 - French Dispatch (but didn't see CODA, tick tick Boom, West Side Story, or Licorice Pizza) 2020 - Nomadland, Da 5 Bloods, Promising Young Woman (didn't see Minari, Sound of Metal, or Mank) 2019 - Jojo Rabbit, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 2018 - Roma, Isle of Dogs, Ballad of Buster Scruggs, BlacKkKlansman, 2017 - Three Billboards, Dunkirk, Get Out (didn't see Darkest Hour, Lady Bird, or Phantom Thread; Shape of Water was stupid). 2016 - Arrival, Hell or High Water, Lion, Hidden Figures (didn't see Moonlight, La La Land, or Manchester by the Sea) 2015 - The Revenant, The Martian, Spotlight (didn't see Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Room, Brooklyn, Mad Max) 2014 - Grand Budapest Hotel, Fury, Birdman, Imitation Game (didn't see Boyhood or Selma)
  12. I can't imagine going to 137 with a ribeye unless it was really thick and then refrigerated for several hours after water bath. I did a 22 oz ribeye on Sunday (cut from full prime ribeye at costco to about 2 inches thick). 128 for 2 hours, then patted dry and put in the fridge for about an hour (waiting on brother-in-law to show up). About a minute on each surface area in screaming hot iron skillet with avocado oil and butter, basting with the butter after first side was seared). In all took about 3-4 minutes to sear completely. Came out a perfect rare+ to medium rare. The thickness of the cut kept it from getting to full medium rare, but there was very little browning beyond the very edge (consistent color throughout the cut).
  13. I heard that they found remnants of...Chilean Sea Bass in his stomach.
  14. I spent the weekend a few weeks back in South SF so this hits…you know.
