  1. Absolutely. These guys are definitely Petty heads, too.
  2. I think the Coogs should make that their full time uniform
  3. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
  4. Same. I went in ‘18 when we were in the Alamo Bowl and had a blast.
  5. Michigan Rattlers were fed into my algorithm a few years ago. I'm not a hardcore by any stretch, but they have some songs I love.
  6. She goes out with the son of the Iowa MBB coach (who played at Iowa for like 6 years). Although a lot of people around Iowa City insist he's just a beard, given the current climate of the state.
  7. Holy hell this is stupid. I think they'll try their best to slide one of the Big 10 schools or OSU/Wazzu in there. If it's Big 12 on Big 12 I'd have to imagine they'd try and avoid a rematch. Most traditional Big 12 schools only play one or two newcomers this year.
  8. I mean, you guys constantly shit on us and there are schools who care less, and ergo deserve less. This is entertainment. Stanford football clearly isn't entertaining to very many people. I don't think they should be cancelled or relegated or whatever, but nearly every Big 12 program has more enthusiasm and interest surrounding it despite the history, academics, etc.
  9. My only point is that Stanford is completely fucking checked out. They’re a better school than ISU. They have more athletic history. And no one cares. Why is Utah pining for an association?
  10. There are maybe 5,000 people in Stanford Stadium on a fall Saturday. There are 60,000 in Jack Trice.
  11. Maybe it’s my Midwest bias, but what “halo effect” exists from playing sports against a bunch of schools that don’t care about playing sports? This whole idea that athletic affiliation drives academic collaboration is the absolute dumbest fucking part of realignment. ISU and Kansas will never be in the Big 10. Both schools regularly collaborate with Big 10 schools academically.
  12. It was magical. For real. Watching my wife take to something I’m very passionate about was awesome too.
  13. Taking a quick weekend trip to Chequamegon National Forest up in Hayward, WI. These are some of the best trails I’ve ever ridden. Not lots of loops, but big on through rides connecting various trailheads. Started the morning with 10 miles of single track. First 5 were excellent old school hand cut, last 5 were the newer machine made style that’s gotten huge in the Midwest lately. When I got back to Hayward, my wife was up and ready for the day so we rented a full squish for her and hit the 6 mile beginner course on the edge of town. She’s never mountain biked (avid road cyclist) and did awesome. It poured rain the entire time, but due to their sandy soil the trails never close. The beginner course was exceptionally well put together and was actually fun for experienced riders. Riding again tomorrow, but this system (CAMBA) is world class and any XC MTB in the US would be remiss if they never got here.
  14. I take regular alcohol sabbaticals and bloodies with an NA beer always scratch the post work drink itch and give you a nice snack
  15. I figured it was blanco, but I’ve heard of people using whiskey (I have no interest in trying that) so I could see anejo being used as well.
  16. I’ve always intended to dabble with one. What’s your go to tequila for it?
  17. Because it’s the most delicious?
  18. The castle “ruins” give it away. I’m 2.5 hours due west. I need to get over there again soon. My buddy’s son is a production engineer there. I’m sure he’s wandering around there somewhere today.
  19. That sure looks like the New Glarus biergarten
  20. Some people don’t like pussy either. NTTAWWT.
  21. My mom's a Canadian citizen and I still have a lot of family up there that I visit every few years, so I'm very familiar with Casesars, and that's absolutely inspiring my decision. Sometimes I will make a full-on Caesar with all Clamato. Zing Zang was my original favorite mix, but I've burned out on over the years, and get a little disappointed when a bar uses it. Not because I don't like it, but because I like to see their own creative spin. I really want to get a good dry botanical gin for doing that. I have a friend who swears by gin Marys.
  22. I rank it as the coolest concert moment I've witnessed. It would be tough to top.
  23. I don't listen much these days, but was a huge fan from about '02-'07ish. This was the set list from my first show. Neil was not actually on the bill and his appearance was a complete surprise. I've seen Hilton Coliseum lose it's collective mind many times, but this was right near the top. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/dave-matthews-band/2004/hilton-coliseum-ames-ia-13d6e945.html
  24. Inspired by the pickle thread, I felt this needed it's own thread. Bloody Marys are my favorite mixed drink. They have been for 20 years. I love how you never get the same thing from one establishment to another. I love how different parts of the country put different spins on them (lots of citrus fruit garnish in the western US, beer chasers in the upper Midwest, pickled okra garnish in Texas). I love starting a football Saturday or Sunday with one is a harbinger of a day full of revelry. I love how they compliment a weekend breakfast. Hell, I love them so much that on week nights I'll make a virgin Mary and chase it with an NA beer because it's just fucking delicious even if you aren't consuming alcohol. One of my favorite things to do when traveling is to hunt down the best local spot. Sometimes your recommendation leads you to culinary mouthwatering bliss, somedays it's some chump pouring you tomato juice and well vodka. It's all part of the game. For years I was into trying different premade mixes, but have settled into a basic template that fluctuates the herbs/seasonings. On ice: -Vodka to taste -Pickle/olive/pepper (sometimes all 3) juice to taste -Splash of Campbell's tomato juice -Splash of Clamato -Splash of A1 -Squeeze of lime -Hearty dash of worcestershire sauce -Hearty dash of whatever hot sauce I'm jamming at the moment -Hearty dash of horseradish -Whatever dry herbs and seasonings you fancy. I have an seasoning blend that a bar in Pella, Iowa creates for their Bloodies. It by itself is enough to complete a great drink, but when I'm low on that I always like Cavender's, black pepper, and garlic powder. My wife's bought various mixed Bloody Mary seasonings that are all pretty good. -Shake ingredients back and forth between one glass and another, and then serve with whatever garnish you like (pickles, olives, meat/cheese are my standards) and (the most crucial part in my neck of the woods) a beer back/beer chaser. Preferably a crisp lager, although sometimes a pale ale can hit the spot. Cheers, fuckers.
