  1. I’ve already had 3 of them
  2. If I made overtures some 20 something blondes, I’d likely suffer a similar fate to Jake.
  3. I’ll be fixing to blow up some porta John’s after Tip Top chili, Busch Light, Prairie Fire, and Camel Snus for lunch.
  4. 6PM Central. ESPN. Big 12 title game implications. Jack Trice will be well lubricated and rocking. I’m currently en route, thanks to a record early harvest completion. And I’m bringing some seriously trashy facial hair with me. Every yard for ISU. I should probably stop and record a rant about Joe Biden.
  5. She sleeps like a champ. I think it’s our cosmic reward for 6 years of battling infertility and then having to go down the surrogacy route. When I picked her up from day care yesterday, the lady said she’s by far the easiest of the babies there. Kid’s just happy 90% of the time and pretty low maintenance so far. Like her old man. If she just avoids developing her mother’s affinity for lighting money on fire, we’ll be golden.
  6. I’ll be tailgating with him later today. I’ll ask him if I don’t get drunk and forget.
  7. Wrapping up my first stint as a solo dad. Wife’s been traveling for work since Monday and her flight lands at 3AM. I don’t know if this is backwards, or what, but I’ve never enjoyed being a dad more than I have the past few days, when it’s just her and I. Instead of the tension of “who’s got this?” that exists when my wife and I are both there, I just have the clarity of being Dad - the one and only. My daughter is 3 months old and just hitting that “finding my voice and giggle” phase. It’s just a joy to watch her navigate that. We got done harvesting this week and I had time to take her over to my grandparents for a minute, as well as meet up with a good friend whose daughter is a month older. Tomorrow, my wife is taking a turn so I can go to the ISU/KU game with my cousin. Im looking to a day free of having to dad, but damn, I’ve never felt more comfortable with what I’m doing than i have the past few days.
  8. Yeah. It’s not like the game is ending. Just the annual nature. And maybe they will cave to the pressure between now and then.
  9. Bellevue's a standard Midwestern suburb, with the twist of having a large military population due to the Air Force base there. Pretty easy shot into downtown though. I've got a buddy in Des Moines originally from Manchuria and he can get good dim sum (don't ask me, I think pretty much anything described as Chinese food is good) there. Omaha and Des Moines are basically the same town two hours apart (don't tell anyone in either place that), so I'm sure there'll be some acceptable dim sum there.
  10. Omaha's a fine town, and I say that as a card-carrying Nebraska loather. Downtown/Old Market is cool, Benson is cool, there's plenty to do. Summer, at it's worst, will feel similar to Texas. The difference is the amount of days at that level are far less. Winter will be much, much harsher than what you're used to. The zoo is great, CWS is great, and there are plenty of decent music venues, some great breweries and restaurants, and even a few outdoor opportunities. It's surprisingly hilly, being located along the Missouri River. The Loess Hills in Iowa, right across the river, are quite striking for the Midwest/Plains.
  11. Yeah, you're right. The chips slam, and I'm definitely not anti-Frito Lay. They're no Old Dutch, but have plenty of worthy offerings.
  12. Outside of the obvious "only place you aren't immediately getting diabetes if you're in a town of less than 3000 people in the Midwest", Miss Vickers is pretty much the only reason I ever go to Subways.
  13. My guess would be Miss Vickers by the looks of it. Do a side by side and get to the bottom of this.
  14. I may have blamed the wrong entity for the Farmageddon debacle. Our AD, who is 90% the greatest thing to happen to ISU sports and 10% “what in the absolute ever living fuck is wrong with you?” pretty clearly acquiesced to this. He has weirdly pushed back against a more formal recognition of Farmageddon in the past, and it sounds like the KSU AD agrees. Of course he’s really just butthurt that ISU fans going to Manhattan didn’t buy tickets through the official allotment.
  15. Add a little mustard and that's some genius right there.
  16. I referenced it another post, but it’s clear that they put equity and regular matchups among all schools at the top of their priorities. Which I think as an overarching structure has a lot of merit. It’s clearly designed to avoid some of the pitfalls of the past and of other leagues. But you have to find a way to protect a regional matchup that is not only the longest never interrupted series in college football, but has been a wildly entertaining series for the past 2 decades. Apparently Mack Rhoades said this model was subject to change in lieu of fan feedback, and my god are they hearing it from Wildcat and Cyclone fans.
  17. I’m glad to see a healthy dose of WVU
  18. I just listened to an ISU pod that made a good point: They only protected in-state games and gave no one 2 protected rivalries. Farmageddon tends to be a bigger game, but they’re clearly trying to be more equitable in how they operate, and that’s probably a good strategic decision.
  19. We get at least 2 (and some years 4) Big 8 games every year, but still. I would honestly just as soon play it as a non con in ‘27. Extra P4 game be damned.
