  1. I would argue that the proliferation of bowl games over the past 20 years and the movement of so many FCS teams to FBS has drastically affected CFB unfavorably.
  2. One of my brother-in-laws is from the Chicagoland. On his first trip to Houston, we went to Ninfa's one night. He proceeded to tell us that one of his friend's mom was from Mexico and he could get better Mexican food at her house and our meal was was below average. I told him that I didn't doubt that because restaurant food is usually inferior to a home coooked meal if the cook knows what they are doing. Especially an abuela who knows her shit. My wife thanked me later for being cool about his comment. A few nights later we took them to Pinkerton's on Airline. We're all digging into the ribs and brisket when he proceeds to tell us that he can get better BBQ in Chicago. I lost my shit. My wife side eyes me with a "Ok, yeah, you can tell this fucker off." In a low volume told him no fucking way and that there were a half dozen places minimum in Houston alone that were far superior to anything he could get up there. That within 2 hours of us, there were another 10-12 places that would shame Chicago and the entire Midwest with the exception of maybe some places in Kansas/Missouri. If we expanded that out to the Austin/San Antonio and DFW areas, we could add on another 10-12 or more. Never mind the number of backyard warriors who do amazing BBQ in their own right. Since then, he's stopped being such an insufferable "Chicago" prick. But that night really pissed me off.
  3. I have been getting to this point too. Sports has become so commercialized and corporate that I just don't care. Attending games in person is a clusterfuck. Tickets are priced too high for me to enjoy it. Concessions are extremely overpriced. Watching people beat their brains in for my entertainment, well, it's not that entertaining.
  4. Are you sure that's not just a typo and it was made in the good old U.S.A in Anahuac?
  5. We've been waiting for 10 years for someone to speak up/stand up to the GOP but here we are.
  6. I don't even remember where I heard this said but some talking head somewhere said that once all the data centers get built electricity costs will decrease. WTF? Once they're up and running, their usage won't decrease.
  7. Do we really want that anwer?
  8. Well, the football game are played in modern day colosseums...
  9. I kind of dug it. They showed the reactions of several characters. SECDEF's, um, exit was something.
  10. Bwahahaha. Macanudo: Designated Driver for the World
  11. Shit, I might try heroin to be cool like RJK, jr.
  12. I stopped drinking in 2022. Been sober 1,349 days. But when that fucker dies, I have serioulsy been considering ending that streak.
  13. The scene where Melania was laughing... The Dude should have leaned back and have it be Justin Trudeau. As for the MAGA Carnival Cruises, I love this idea. And it would be so on point of the cruise ship got Tomahawked or torpedoed by the U.S.
  14. Sure but he was all woke and stuff with that Emancipation Proclamation and shit.
  15. Cypress or Frisco don't count.
  16. Only Ivanka if she's sitting on her dad's lap.
  17. Sounds like how I got a new commode.
  18. I mean, what kind of drugs are we talking about because I'm open to trying new things.
  19. That only works for us. Aggies would be yanking their mushrooms.
  20. You seem angry. I mean I get it. And I agree. How do we get more people to be angry?
  21. Dammit, does this mean I need to cancel my F-35 order from Lockheed Martin?
  22. Again, I think targeting Christmas is a no-win. Most people wont do that.
  23. If someone lives paycheck to paycheck and 100% of their paycheck goes toward rent/mortgage, car payments, utilities and food, where is the "disposable" income? I remember being a poor college kid and that being my life. Going out meant knowing where the cheapest happy hour drinks were and making sure it was a Mexican place so the chips and salsa were free. And only doing that maybe 2-3 times a month. Never going on Spring Break during the 5 years I was in school because I couldn't afford it and would work the extra hours that week because I was off from school. Picking up holiday shifts and working Christmas, Thanksgiving and NY's day because they paid time and half. That's the reality for most people in this country not the bubble that we live in here.
  24. I disagree with "don't do shit at work". A fuck ton of corporations would welcome a way to cull their workforces and this would give them a reason. Go to work and do your job. But don't spend any money that day. That's an impact that cost nothing to anyone except the message it sends. Or someone torches Mar-A-Lago and sinks all the super yachts of Bezos, Ellison, etc. And by tell, you mean giant weezing weiner?
  25. Don't do a general strike. Do a series of one day "boycotts". No trip to Walmart or Target. No on-line shopping. No commerce of any kind. Sure, people will shop the day before or after. But one day boycotts like this send a pretty serious message that "we have more control than you fuckers think."
