  1. Maybe a better wage, or upwardly-mobile educational opportunities, perhaps expanded access to healthcare that won't bankrupt me, continued decreases in interest rates would all help me but ... inflation bad, need new president (let's just ignore that the fucking CAUSE of inflation is profit-taking and wealth-accumulation to the already-billionaires, and the tax plan for new president will just make that worse). Fuck, I gotta stop.
  2. My personal favorite is the whole "repeal obamacare" thing. The main reason that plans on the public market ended up being so expensive is because of all the capitulations that Obama's team had to make to the R's to get the thing passed, most notably the lack of a public option "because socialism." By not being willing to share the risk amongst all US citizens, R's ensured that those who needed coverage the most would be doomed to continue to pay rates set by the insurers, who are fucking FOR PROFIT companies.
  3. This thread is a fucking beating. "Quinn might need to improve a little." Side 1 - fucking shit, you can't say that he only needs to improve a LITTLE. He's been TERRIBLE. Why are you always defending him and refusing to acknowledge what's right in front of your face?!?!? Side 2 - fucking shit, who else would you take over him? Why are you so fucking critical of every single thing? It's a single bad game, plus our OL have been total shit the entire year and NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THAT. This blindness about what total football looks like is why Texas fans like you are the worst. No one on the 'defend quinn a little' side is saying that everything is fine (well, maybe @Thatguy ), and frankly, I don't think anyone on the 'criticize quinn a little' side is saying that he should be benched right now (well, maybe a few outliers). I feel like I'm having to separate my two kids because they both claim that the other one left the dishes on the counter, and there's no possible way it was THEM that did it, and they're just yelling the same finger-pointing shit at the other one, BUT LOUDER. Shut the fuck up. We get it. QB1's play has been far, far below our standard since the injury. QB1s play gave us no chance to win the UGA game, and the trends over the last three games leave strong doubts about our ability to win out. QB1s play is directly influenced by the play of other units, especially the OL. For us to win a national championship, we've got to fix ALL of it.
  4. @futureman this weird-ass name :). I should say, that's not what I called it, I'm just as baffled as Lhorn ...
  5. Water fountain (texas)
  6. Let's take a quick poll, and see who grew up in the midwest vs. the south. What's that thing in the top-middle (cell A2) called? Just post your answer, don't comment on other people's answers ...
  7. hooo boy, I don't think that chart says what you think it says ...
  8. Stafford's arm strength is really impressive. As is Whittington's route running.
  9. Somehow this will be Machado's fault too ...
  10. So everything is just a crypto grift?
  11. +1. This place is a piece of Americana, and not so big that you can't see it all in one day.
  12. Sarcastic replies aside, I will say this. The serendipity that can happen when you're driving through America and not on an insane schedule can be quite amazing. Every single city, small, medium, or large, has something cool in or near it. Every single one. If you're open to finding them, or letting them find you, you're gonna have a blast. Stop for lunch at a small town diner, and ask the waitress or hostess 'what's cool about this city?' (or something like that). Go to the main library and ask the same. Use the tried and true "fun things to do in XYZ" google search. One quick story. The family was on a roadtrip in the northeast last year. We had a day to kill driving between DC and NYC (eventually headed to Cape Cod). I did the google search thing, and found out that one of the Forts in Baltimore is a National Park. Now, National Parks are common, and Forts are common, but the overlapping of the two isn't necessarily common. So we set a course for Fort McHenry to kill the day. As my wife drove, I read more, and starting seeing a BUNCH of references to the Star Spangled Banner. When we got there we discovered that Fort McHenry is THAT Fort. Rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there? Yeah, the flag flew over THAT Fort. Maybe some of y'all knew that already, but we didn't. And it turned into one of the absolute highlights of all of our travels. Quick edit to add - my US History learnings did not sufficiently educate me on how fucking close we were to losing our country during the War of 1812. Had the British succeeded at Baltimore / Fort McHenry, consensus (at least from the exhibits at the museum) was that they'd sail up the river to DC, which had just been attacked itself (or was just about to be), and likely take back the seat of our fledgling country. Just be open, man. This country has awesome shit all over the place.
  13. Don't be a cranky old man. There's plenty of excellent food in both cities. Both cities also have nice hotels, and fun things to do in the evening. No one is saying that you should adjust your travel times so you can explore Cincy. But if your delicate "I only wanna drive 6-8 hours a day" ass ends up in Cincinnati, then the HB is fun.
  14. OG US Hofbrau Haus in Cincinnati, it's a good time. Plenty to do in Louisville + Nashville. Fill up with gas in Memphis, so you don't have to stop in Arkansas. The drive from Texarkana to Austin isn't terrible; that's where we stayed on the outbound and return journey on a road trip last year.
  15. highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Arrowhead. Big rocks, big views, cool history.
  16. Damn it feels good to have a bunch of longhorns in the pros again.
  17. After a few more videos, two things I wasn't giving enough weight to were 1) the sway option, which if successful gives a FOURTH positive pitch, but only for your school (works best if you have two existing positive pitches to use when selecting your three) and 2) look for 3- and 4-star GEM ATH's (it seems they tend to convert to other positions with jumps in attributes in year 1, and develop faster in subsequent seasons). YMMV but wanted to pass those along.
  18. The VAST majority of them are really just covering the basics. To @Helobious's point, there's quite a bit going on with the recruiting mechanics, and it takes a bit to 'make it all make sense.' I haven't really found anyone that has truly insider tips/tricks. This would be fun to see, if you've got a link?
  19. Anyone found repeatable ways to optimize recruiting? I used to love stacking rosters with pages of 5*s in NCAA2004. Having done one full season in dynasty, and doing some reading on reddit and such, recruiting in '24 seems to be * somewhat * balanced? I've got all the basics down - 35 prospects, max out your hours, target the pitches with the green check-boxes by them, look for 4- and 5-stars without offers in week3 or so, and you can get a jump on them ranking you high if you offer them when no-one else has, how to uncover "gems" in 3* and 4* recruits, etc. Just curious if anyone has ideas on min-maxing that thing.
  20. I never get tired of watching this.
  21. Also, the previews have me sort of excited for movies in the fall. Alien:Romulus, The Wild Robot, Gladiator 2, Joker: Folie au Deux, and Venom: The Last Dance are all ones I want to see. The MCU slowly dying off might be a good thing for the wider movie industry. Edit: And Red One (being dead serious).
  22. The movie is fun as fuck. Turn off your brain and go enjoy it.
  23. AVERAGING 31 wins a season is bananas. I expected Sparty, Baylor, UCONN to be higher. Surprised at Oregon, BYU, and Purdue that high. And lastly ... jesus christ, fuck Shaka. What a wasted decade.
  24. 10/$32m is some serious "we are the Joneses" shit (if true).
  25. In a sea full of sales idiots getting drunk at conferences stories (I am one of those), this is a DELIGHT to read. A+, 5/5, no notes, hope to duplicate some day.
