    Merry Christmas…

My kids being 19 and 17, I remember fondly but don’t miss one iota having to put shit together like that on Christmas Eve. 17 years ago, after a nice Christmas Eve dinner where the 2.3 year old boy had drank 3 full small cups of Egg Nog by first going to me for one refill and then his mother for the second and subsequently puked all over the table., I began a drunken “let’s put together the red rider tricycle and wagon”. Took over 3 hours mostly because I was housed. the next morning (Christmas) my wife starts complaining that her uterus seems to be contracting, despite being 2 weeks prior to our scheduled c-section. I was excited to see the boy’s reaction to his gifts, but we don’t get very far. I’ve got great video of her next to him where she winces in pain. She calls the doc who exclaims, “OK, head to the hospital, you’re having a baby today.” We looked at each other and we’re like, “uh, no way Doc.” Yes way,. About 3 hours later I got the best Christmas present I ever had or ever will get.

    Merry Christmas…

Ah, “Rosemary’s Baby”, the feel-good holiday classic.
  4. I was waiting for the reaction to that. I figured a “Cookie, get a rope…” was coming for sure. imagine if you posted that on TexAgs. It’d be more like “Cookie, get the Zyklon-B…”
  5. I remember a bunch of shagsters hoarding OG when they were forced to tone down the recipe.
  6. One of the great stories ever spawned on TOS.

    Merry Christmas…

Buncha wonderful assholes. Merry Christmas to all y’all.
  8. Yes, as Christmas neared, it revved up into high gear. Personally being in and out of the hospital we are limiting everything to our little immediate foursome. In many respects it’s perfect and all I’d ever want, but a large family gathering does sound nice.
  9. Could you elaborate a bit? agreed, I will end up helping my kids when I can, but I won’t help defray a deadbeat lifestyle.
  10. There 5 of us kids growing up in my house, and my parents slaved to send all of us to good (great) private schools after public elementary, and all 5 college tuition, room and board. Fortunately 4 of the 5 were UC’s, so tuition was negligible. And I was lucky enough to get a graduate scholarship to biz school, so he got that break. But I made the commitment the day my first was born that I will pay for the best education I can and make sure they both graduate college debt free. But with the boy studying in London through Northeastern University, I am definitely getting put to the test right now.
  11. Oscar winners seemed like a reasonable threshold as well
  12. Amen. I would never watch Wake/Mizzou regular season, but it’s CFB in December. So I watched most of it. If they are breaking even, let ‘em play.
  13. Best picture winners I’ve never seen: Shape of Water, 12 Years a Slave, Nomadland, Green Book, BirdMan, Million Dollar Baby, Argo, Slumdog Millionaire, Shakespeare in Love. Others going back further, but anything there really something I should see?
  14. Jonathan Smith may very well be the guy to turn him around. If he plays well, Oregon St could be legit next year
  15. oh and FWIW, my FIL did charge me interest, at whatever rate my primary mortgage was. It started at 6%, but I refinanced 3 times in 4 years as rates dropped. And this thread was about parents/in-laws flat out covering bills.
  16. LA is going to hit close to its all-time high (85) on Christmas. Low 80’s forecast. What’s everyone complaining about?
  17. This is one of those movies I always stop on if I come across it. Had it on the other day and the wife is like “I’ve never seen this.” How can that be possible. We’ve been together 30+ years and I’ve seen it at least 10 times and you’ve never seen it once? We don’t watch that much stuff separately. I think she may have brain damage. But if it’s true, another start to finish run of it is in the offing. I have the “Heat 2” book but haven’t started it. Need to find time.
