  1. We had multiple options available for how to prepare and consume the catch. Some folks liked sashimi, some wanted to build rolls, and still others liked to grill their fish.
  2. Yes. Learned that a lot of fish with bad reputation for taste are actually pretty good if you eat it very fresh. We ate barracuda raw as well. Pretty much every Saturday evening, we had the grill fired up and a batch of sushi rice ready for the day's catch. Probably got my lifetime quota of mercury in that 6 months, but I enjoyed it.
  3. Did a lot of hunting when I was stationed in GTMO. Always on the reef and no open water stuff like this. When the water was clear, the sharks stayed well away from us and never bothered us. One day, the waters were pretty murky, but we decided to head out anyway. Visibility was 10 ft, which in one way worked to our favor as we were able to get into range before the fish could see us. I shot my biggest fish ever - a 40 inch King Mackerel. On the way back to the boat, visibility dropped to less than five feet. About 100 yds from the boat, my buddy tapped his tank to get my attention and gave me the shark sign and motioned for me to get rid of my stringer. Fuck that, I wasn't giving up that mackerel! We got back to the boat and out of the water and my buddy was shaking. Said he saw a big reef shark make two runs at my mackerel before turning away at the last second. I never saw it, but I never went back out in limited visibility again. Anyway, we had some great sushi that night.
  4. If team dick-stepping average was an official stat, these guys would be setting league records. Maybe not weighted dick-stepping average, but for sure in raw dick-stepping numbers. They’ve improved their starting pitching DSIP (dick-stepping per innings pitched) since the first month of the season, but the bullpen DSIP is still up there. The BPDS (basepath dick-stepping) has always been a weakness, but is more apparent when the team also has high numbers in late-inning DPDS (double play dick-stepping), PODS (pop-up dick-stepping), and CSDS (clutch situation dick-stepping) . FEDS (fielding error dick-stepping) is also exceptionally high this year compared to the past. Weighted dick-stepping numbers are calculated by how often the dick is stepped multiplied by how big the dick is. Pressly’s PPPE (past performance penis enhancement) crossed with his extraordinary dick-stepping rate this season gives him the highest WDSA on the team. Yordan’s WDSA is up there just because, well, you know… Yordong. Bregs and Hader are also having career peaks in WDSA. Surprisingly, Jose Abreu’s WDSA is actually quite low, but that’s because this man has no dick.
  5. What a stupid season.
  6. I don't think his flex is so much that it's power steering, but that the Cybertruck has a .94 steering ratio. Most vehicles would require 3 full wheel turns for a u-turn while the CT can do it in 1/2 a wheel turn, eliminating the need for hand over hand steering. It's still a rather unimpressive party trick, and does nothing to redeem the abomination that is CT.
  7. Bright side is that we won’t have to listen to Beth Mowins’ terrible Marv Albert impersonation tomorrow night.
  8. It's that blue meth.
  9. It's fiction, but I thought that The Dark Forest (second book of Cixin Liu's Three Body Problem series) did an elegant (and terrifying) job of explaining the Fermi paradox with the maxims of cosmic sociology. Survival is the primary need of civilization Civilization continuously grows and expands, but the total matter in the universe remains constant. Combining these two maxims with game theory leads to the conclusion that the surest path for survival in the universe is to remain completely undetected. Once you have achieved sufficient technology to make yourself known in the universe, other civilizations will logically view you as a technologically competent competitor for the finite resources (matter) in the universe. In this scenario, there are two paths for survival. The first is to remain completely undetected and carefully develop technology in a manner such that you remain undetected. The second is that you immediately obliterate any civilization that you detect lest they detect and destroy you first.
  10. It's perfectly consistent. Serak would absolutely engage in a campaign of misinformation to sow confusion, doubt, and fear prior to arrival. BTW... this is an exceptionally entertaining thread. Keep it up, gang!
  11. I mean, yeah, there are definitely some negative aspects of this whole "being connected to the entirety to human knowledge by a device that fits comfortably in your pocket", but net negative? You've got to have a pretty narrow view to come away with that take.
  12. That sentence is pregnant. I kept waiting for the period that didn't come.
  13. I fucking hate that pitch framing is taught and lauded as a skill. It's intentionally exploiting the weaknesses in the system to manipulate an umpire into an incorrect call. Oh, your catcher is really good at cheating the system? Yay, I guess. Please bring us robot umps and end this farce.
  14. "It was the 3rd of June, another sleepy, dusty, delta day."
  15. Love the puppy pics. Ody: Penny:
  16. And the M’s move the runner on the first pitch. That’s why they’re in first and the Astros continue to suck shit through a straw.
  17. Very good to great and a worthy prequel for Fury Road. I loved that they were able to come up with even more original ways to attack a convoy after going so hard with Fury Road.
  18. Alright. I’m out on the season until Abreu is gone.
