  1. I think you're understating the worst-case scenario. Here's some happy Friday afternoon thoughts I totally get the impulse but this is no time to get desperate.
  2. Are you saying the same people who are concerned about private student loans -- which Biden has tried and tried to take off the books only to face opposition at every turn from the GQP -- are the same people who were against Universal Healthcare but also in favor of a much stricter regulatory approach to banking? But also they're NOT 50 to 80 year olds but they're pissed about a financial services law passed 25 years ago. Oh you mentioned the law that stabilized the banking system from collapse, signed into law by SHRUB. And they hate Elizabeth Warren and any consumer protection too. What a bizarre conglomeration of laws those people are theoretically pissed about. Those people definitely seem incredibly confused at the very least. Please tell me what segment of the population is this delusional. Subscribers to a Matthew Yglesias substack? I don't think that's considered a demographic, sir.
  3. nope but hopefully interesting You've obviously given this a lot of thought and I'm typing as I try to head out the door but I'd love to know how a group of relatively wealthy 50 to 80 year olds haven't benefitted from any of the prosperity over 30 years. What an incredible statement. They don't benefit from rising home equity or the stock market, which sinks under republicans? You're talking about people who'll complain about their property tax but then greedily hoard precious residential real estate, and witlessly block new laws that would help drive prices down. They're the first to look for an undocumented immigrant to clean their house and/or wipe their ass for them. NAFTA, by the way, passed due to a majority of GOP votes. The repeal of Glass Steagall, well, the first named sponsor of the bill was Phil Gramm so that should give you a clue. However in the case of both NAFTA AND Glass Steagall the ONLY votes against were LIBERALS. The moderates worked with the right wingers to pass those bills. tbh I'm not sure why you mention Glass-Steagall repeal but Bush was not prevented from taking action before the 2007 crash, 8 years later. So there's no proof the repeal of GS had anything to do with it. Meanwhile the GQP has fought pro-consumer regulation for 30 years, including regulation over the very same banks. And in fact the GQP Supreme Court has struck a death knell for an incredible amount of consumer protection laws. So please spare me the sanctimony.
  4. NYT update. At the top of the homepage but with a new, possibly dumber headline.
  5. Yes but actually benefitting versus not understanding how you're benefitting are 2 different things. The second is delusionary and unreasonable.
  6. the view from Europe Meanwhile 2/3 of Israelis favor Trump and to Israelis I say, from a Jew, go fuck yourselves.
  7. Maybe I missed the sarcasm but if so the "rightfully so" threw me.
  8. 1 on 9. 9 on 1 is the only way the dotard would fight and he'd hide around a corner. WHAT? They may not know how they benefitted but they benefitted among the highest levels. They're just too ignorant to understand how. Anyway
  9. Prominent 70 year old conservative has a hissy fit in public and nearly spits out his dentures. And no this is not about @BurntOrange&White
  10. Ah gotcha. Detail forgotten. Must've been another bomber. Point stands.
  11. Can you guess who this new report from NBC is about? The PAC denied that ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE. Well, okay then. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/elon-musks-high-stakes-trump-door-knocking-effort-america-pac-rcna176255
  12. Vox. Elon "If Harris wins, I'm fucked!" Musk is the friend nobody needs. https://www.vox.com/politics/381637/elon-musk-donald-trump-2024-election-temporary-hardship
  13. Cook is independent but their lead analyst is Dave Wasserman who's apparently had his brain infested with lizards so I'd put them most likely to err on the R side.
  14. To add to what was posted earlier about candidate schedules:
  15. They've been intercepting certain packages at their Indiana hub and I think one other at the very least. Currency in many cases, which shows it doesn't need to be a package from China, or giving off weird vibes, or have metal inside. If you recall the twat who set off bombs in Austin that was through U*PS because they don't xray unlike fe*ex. I live in CO and have knowledge of people who've used just regular U*ps on the regular to ship edibles, cartridges and concentrates to tx. Plus if you ship U*PS and pay cash there's no record of the shipper.
  16. When you're in full panic mode because you're facing prison when you lose -
  17. Heh. Bloomberg reporting here. The way Biden severely wounded OPEC is one of the underrated stories of our time. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-11-01/pump-prices-tumble-20-in-key-swing-states-ahead-of-election
  18. Pretty sure it's still available. It's the real estate investment that no longer qualifies but there are other methods. I could be wrong because they've been changing it up.
  19. I got the latest pfizer vaccine as soon as it was available. The recommendation at the time from the pharmacist was to follow it up with the Moderna shot about 8 weeks later. So I'm coming up on that and will get a double tap with the flu vacc in about 2 weeks. I'm a bit late for getting the flu vaccine, as the Dr recommended getting it in October.
  20. The October surprise was finding out who ordered Epstein to be killed.
  21. Are we still pretty sure that 100,000 votes in a state are more than 9,000? Someone who has xitter access please show me what Wasserman's @s look like.
  22. 8 years ago. It's incredible that people of voting age are just learning about it. Free link. https://archive.ph/BOnf2
  23. at least it's a R politician blasting him this time
  24. If Lebron's endorsement is here I didn't see it.
