  1. So any post-tournament predictions on what the starting 11 looks like next summer if everyone is healthy? ----------Balogun------ ----Puli---Tillman---Weah---- -----Adams---McKennie----- Jedi--Richards--Ream--Dest -----------Schulte----------- Not sure on Ream, but Pochettino seems to trust him and the rest of the options are nothing special. Schulte is a wild guess.
  2. I can't fucking believe that some people need to be reminded of this, but 27+ dead CHILDREN didn't vote -- or not vote -- for a god damned thing.
  3. Agree with everything here except Aaronson. I'm not convinced that either Aaronson is good at anything other than running around a lot with minimal impact.
  4. What’s with the audio? Every contact sounds like a 500 ft home run? Did ESPN put mics in the catchers’ mitts?
  5. On the squad next year: Adams, Tillman, Luna, Richards I’m intrigued: Berhalter, McGlynn, Downs, Freese I could see it just because we don’t have anyone else: Ream, Agyemang GTFO: LDLT, Aaronsons, Turner, Arfsten, Freeman
  6. Obviously he’s on the squad and 99.9% starting, but I thought Adams had a pretty bad game and tournament.
  7. Pretty hard to say Mexico didn’t earn this. We never really threatened their goal much at all.
  8. Get ready for 10 minutes of Mexican dudes sitting on the ground
  9. Crazy that he and Freeman are the best we could come up with.
  10. I’d be alright with sitting back if we were trying to mount any sort of counter attacks. Instead we just clear the ball with no purpose. It’s time for midfielders not named Berhalter to join the game.
  11. Luna looks like the best dude playing down at your local park. He definitely stops at 7-11 on the way home from every game to grab a giant Tecate.
  12. So a couple things I've learned that I didn't know before are that 1) the river valleys in this particular part of Central Texas are among the most flood-prone in the country, and 2) they're full of quite a few kids' summer camps, many (most?) of which have been there for many decades, some up to 100 years. Those two facts in combination make it seem like the camps should be pretty well versed in flood risks. I'd expect quite a few near miss stories to be among the local lore. "Back in '88, the water came all the way up to the steps of the dining hall"...that type of thing.
  13. Anyone else planning to go? Prices holding pretty steady so far - $150 for nosebleeds, $250+ for a decent seat. I'm still considering it but hoping they'll ease up some. Stadium is 10 minutes from my house.
  14. I don't doubt y'all about the money. Particularly surprised to hear the Arkansas/Texas State cost comparison. That seems like the kind of thing Texas state leaders would want to take a look at, but that's just me I guess. That said, I've yet to meet any family with a kid itching to go to UAB, Louisiana, or Southern Miss, who I assume also offer a nice financial deal to bright Texan kids. Being in a dying conference with a nationally irrelevant football program will not be good for Tech as a university that exists to educate students, and I'm sure they're aware of that.
  15. Thanks. Didn't know about that site. I cannot wrap my head around people driving over those bridges like it's nothing as water and trees slam into it. What on the other side of that bridge is worth risking your life?
  16. "picture from yesterday"...Jesus Christ. Fucking horrific.
  17. Underrated factor. My wife has a bunch of coworkers with high school aged kids in The Woodlands, etc. The ones that aren't going to UT or aggy all want to go to LSU, Bama, even Arkansas. It was eye-opening to me to learn that, but we hear it again and again. Are SEC football powerhouses offering a better education than Tech, Texas State, UTSA, etc? Of course not. The difference is big time sports and the associated campus life. My bet is that most Texas public universities are fairly concerned about their branding/perception right now.
  18. Finally saw it today. My kids loved it. I thought the shout outs to Carl Sagan were really cool. It’s…fine. I’d put it on par with Turning Red or something like that. It’s colorful, sweet, a little funny. I won’t remember anything about it next week.
  19. Sorry if it's been discussed, but what does TOF going for-profit mean, if anything? Who does the profit go to?
  20. I've got a calendar. The current roster construction calls for a big OL class this year. We lost Mills late and unexpectedly last year and threw a last minute Hail Mary at Fasusi. We've never gone to the portal at OL under Sark and Flood. All spring this thread was talking about taking as many as 6 and whether or not we'd have to turn away a guy like Zaden Krempin. Last year, 21 of our 25 eventual signees visited during the big summer OV weekends. The year before 19/22. Those are the priority targets. This year at OL we brought in the two current commits, Turntine, Ojo (Tech), Lee (Michigan), Krempin (aggy), Roseborough (aggy). Let's be honest, Ojo and Lee will be difficult or impossible flips. We looked at guys like Evers and Katoa and said no thanks already. No luck (yet?) getting Pepe, Utu, or Greene to visit and they're all committed elsewhere now. So yeah, you're absolutely right. It's July. No panic. But like, what's the fucking plan here? Anyone on this thread that says this is shaking out how they expected in April is a liar.
  21. A 3-man OL class of Turntine, Wright, and Robertson is not good enough for what we’re trying to accomplish here. No shade to those 3 guys. Flipping Lee from a motivated Michigan does not count as a real strategy in my opinion. So what now? Hope for aggy’s class to implode? Cool.
  22. Is OT a position of abundance? Portal overflowing with Texas-level players every year?
