  1. This ref absolutely sucks. Calls the game on a corner kick after blowing a whistle on CR’s Joel Campbell after ES’s Alex Roldán just falls down and lies down on top of the ball. Complete horseshit.
  2. Stretchering healthy professional athletes in their 20s should be shamed into history. The fact that it is accepted is just so cringe*. *as is someone my age using “so cringe”.
  3. For all of those losers who aren’t at home watching two Central American teams in the Gold Cup on a Friday night, you are missing quite a fun game. This could be the wildest game so far in the entire tournament. Back and forth with shots and near misses. Pretty much end-to-end action. Someone is going to get gassed and F up, but that’s the way we like it.
  4. In Eastbourne, we see that the Ruskie junk baller beat one hard hitter and faces another in the final. Keys appeared to have made routine work of Coco.
  5. To show my longevity as a fan, Novak Djokovic may be my most hated male tennis player since Ivan Lindl. 🎾

I think that what Jesús showed to the refined fan* in the match vs St. Kitt’s & Nevis is that he makes intelligent runs, he’s got quick feet, and he makes good decisions when he has a step of space. What we saw against The Netherlands is that he is absolutely useless playing as a #9 against CBs with any size, speed, and/or quality. He looked like a lost child in the World Cup. Against shit competition, he’s can be a productive #9. Against all others, he needs to be played in other positions if you want to get anything out of his time on the field. *”refined fan” would be defined as I, Surly’s “Napoleon”, and anyone who agrees with me.
  7. 😂 Ummm… no. Madonna is like an omnipotent narcissist up on stage shouting “Look at me! I’m the greatest spectacle in the world!” Beyonce seems to be directed to do stuff. (Or at least in the first half of her career.) More akin to a smarter Britney Spears when it came to stage presence. (I will admit to never having seen either Britney or Beyoncé in concert.) I saw Madonna in 1987 (Texas Stadium) and then again in 2008 (River Plate Stadium, Buenos Aires, Argentina), when I took a young English lady who wasn’t even born yet in 1987. …so sassy & smart… (Oxford language student - Spanish & French - on her gap year spending a semester in Argentina to practice her Spanish.) I saw Diana Ross at a Ralph’s grocery store in Beverly Hills about 2 decades ago. Definitely older, but with a big smile when a store employee her loudly said “Hello Ms. Ross” upon her pushing her cart into the store. #Legend
  8. I would take the Hondurans in this matchup 8 days a week. There appear to be a whole mess o’ Messicans running around on my TV.

Matteo Moretto is an Italian journalist based in Milan… …yet he posts in Spanish?!?! ’Splain-me why the fuck that is.
  10. For me, Madonna peaked in her “Cherish” video. Soaking wet, push-up bra, still had collagen to make her look soft, and she didn’t scream “Guess how many STDs I have!” in that video.

Musah goes back home! He’ll be able to show off the Italian that he grew up speaking outside of the house. And fortunately the fans in Italy aren’t racist Ps.O.S. like in Spain… 👀 😳 Go get ‘em, Yunus!

    1) His name is, and has always been, “Soñora”. You got the tilde ~ over the n, ñ, but his name is pronounced: [sewn-YORE-ah] Not that the gringo announcers ever pronounce it that way. 2) Soñora came up through the Boca Jrs youth system and then eventually played some for them. That is one of the two biggest, most prestigious youth Academies in the western hemisphere (River Plate of Argentina being the other… sorry Brazil) before making his move just a bit south, across the Riachuela, to Independiente (de Avellaneda). 3) Independiente (de Avellaneda) is one of the “Big 5” clubs of Argentine soccer. From Wiki: In international club football competitions, Independiente has won a total of 21 titles, with 18 of them organised by CONMEBOL and other associations. Independiente's achievements include a record of seven Copa Libertadores won, being the only club to win four finals in a row, between 1972 and 1975. The club has won the Copa Interamericana three times, the Supercopa Sudamericana twice, the Recopa Sudamericana once, the Intercontinental Cup twice (1973 and 1984), and the Copa Sudamericana twice, in 2010 and 2017. The 2018 Suruga Bank Championship was its most recent achievement. These achievements led the team to adopt the nickname of Rey de Copas (King of Cups) after they conquered its 12th international title, the first team in the world to do so, in reference to the Spanish playing cards' highest number. After winning the 1984 Intercontinental Cup against Liverpool F.C. in Japan, Independiente won the first confrontation involving Argentine and British teams after the Falklands War, a triumph that was celebrated by all Argentines and gave the team the motto of Orgullo Nacional (National Pride). IN SUMMARY [TLDR]: Soñora’s blood line, academy development, and Argentine resume looks excellent, which is in stark contrast to his play on the pitch. I never watched him play in Argentina, but he started at the #10 off-and-on for a couple of years at one of the biggest clubs in the country. That alone gives him a better resume than most players on the USMNT’s Gold Cup roster. That said, he plays like shit against CONCACAF competition.

  14. FYI… Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki announces comeback D'Arcy Maine, ESPN.com Jun 29, 2023, 09:14 AM ET Three years after retiring from professional tennis, former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki announced she would be returning to the sport in a first-person essay for Vogue on Thursday. Wozniacki, 32, said she begin hitting again after her second child was born in October, and it made her realize how much she missed the sport. "It's hard to say why, or what changed, but when my dad [and longtime coach, Piotr] saw me practice that day, and said, 'It looks like you're enjoying it more' -- that was exactly how I felt: I was relaxed and having fun, and somehow that let me see everything more clearly," Wozniacki said. I want to know how many shots Zendejas had and how many of them were actually on goal. I was hoping for quality from him, but he played like a 16 year-old. I think that he is 25. That’s not good.

Alan Soñora is the son of former Dallas Burn Argentine player, Diego Soñora. Alan and his brother, Joel (pronounced “Joe L.”), were born in the USA while their dad played for 2 or 3 MLS teams, but grew up in Argentina. Alan is left footed, at best, and has shown why he shouldn’t play anymore for the USMNT.
