  1. All true. Djoker could at least provide a question mark. Obviously this is all bias, but I consider dirt tennis to be a lesser form of the sport, which knocks Nadal's overall legacy down a bit. The man is unquestionably the GOAT on the surface, though. It's also probably why I don't hold Fed's head-to-head record against Nadal against him; if you take away that surface, there's parity between them. Is it grass season yet? Haha.
  2. Ugh. They're both awful, self-serving assholes.
  3. On the women's side, I find myself surprisingly indifferent. All other things equal, I usually root for the Americans, but I have a bit of a soft spot for Halep. Sloane has had a good run, and I would certainly be happy for her. Simona deserves to win a grand slam, so I find myself rooting for that just to get the monkey off her back (the same way I did for Caro in Melbourne).
  4. I'm just not surprised at Nadal's run. He's the undisputed king of clay. There's no one whose game approaches his on the dirt. Thiem may be the closest, but I have no hope that he'll be able to get it done in a best-of-5. The rest of the tennis world had adapted to Federer's dominance, but nothing has happened at all to check Rafa on clay. The dude has lost two matches at Roland Garros in his career. That's ludicrous.
  5. He's just a vile, disgusting person. Fuck Scott Pruitt. He's arguably the worst part about this entire administration. Just a swamp rat to the nth degree.
  6. If it's Thetexashammer, tennesseehorn, CLH, etc, it's a compliment.
  7. You've probably answered this elsewhere, DougO, but what glass do you use for those shots?
  8. Hah, I was going to wear my Oxfords, but then I decided not to bring them because of security. Opted for something easier on and off.
  9. First Class on Lufthansa didn't disappoint at all.
  10. One of the last couple of episodes of Family Guy was about this same thing.
  11. Holy fuck. Apparently this might actually happen. Lol. Piazza Dell'Unita d'Italia, Trieste, Italy Tolmin Gorges, Triglav National Park, Slovenia View from the Hostel, Bovec, Slovenia Moznica Gorge Hike, near Bovec, Slovenia Soca River, Slovenia Lago del Predil, near Tarvisio, Italy Iconic Hallstatt, Austria
  12. Alright, let's try this again. Ljubljana, Slovenia Rovinj, Croatia Can y'all see those? If so, I'll upload the rest.
  13. Not sure why a few of those didn't come through: Piazza Dell'Unita d'Italia, Trieste, Italy Tolmin Gorges, Triglav National Park, Slovenia View from the Hostel, Bovec, Slovenia Moznica Gorge Hike, Bovec, Slovenia
  14. I just got back from 2 weeks in Europe. Here are some of the highlights: Ljubljana, Slovenia Rovinj, Croatia Piazza Dell'Unita d'Italia, Trieste, Italy Tolmin Gorges, Triglav National Park, Slovenia View from the Hostel, Bovec, Slovenia Moznica Gorge Hike, Bovec, Slovenia Soca River, Slovenia Lago del Predil, near Tarvisio, Italy Hallstatt, Austria Slovenia is my new favorite country in Europe, bar none.
  15. There's some good advice in here. I just got back from 2 weeks spent in this area, most of it in Slovenia. It's now my favorite country in Europe. Stunning natural beauty. We drove up to Berchtesgaden/Salzburg for a couple of days, and the Sommerroldenbahn (toboggan) is fun for anyone at any age. Also, there's the Ice Cave (Eisriesenwelt, about 30 minutes south of Salzburg) and the Salt Mines (Hallein has the largest one, I think). I spent a day and Trieste and unless you were looking to eat some Italian food, it's pretty skippable, to be honest. I cannot sing Slovenia's praises enough, though. The town of Bovec is an outdoorsy person's dream. Rafting, hiking, swimming, waterfalls, it has it all. Croatian Istria isn't far, either. Look up Predjama Castle, Skocjan Caves, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj to see some of the things we did in Slovenia. Eh, as someone who was taken to Paris as a 12 year old, I hated it. The Eiffel Tower was cool for 30 minutes, as was the Arc de Triomphe, and as a plane nerd I loved the museum at Le Bourget, but honestly there was nothing else I remotely liked about Paris. I'd hold off until 16+ for Paris when they have a little more appreciation for the history.
  16. This isn't that fucking hard. Mexico is playing one team at a time. I'm rooting for them. Nowhere in your rules did you say it had to be the same team all the way. If you're going to be a pedant, at least do it well. I will root for whoever is playing Mexico until such time as Mexico is no longer in the World Cup. Then I will root for Iceland until such time as they're no longer in the World Cup. Then I will root for Argentina for the duration. IDGAF after that. Probably whoever is playing Brazil.
  17. I have the Orion 130mm Reflector, which seems pretty good in the times that I've used it. I'm an astronomy geek, and I took a couple of astronomy classes in college, but I'm far from being able to afford some of the heavy-hitters. https://www.amazon.com/Orion-SpaceProbe-Equatorial-Reflector-Telescope/dp/B00D05BKOW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1526251779&sr=8-8&keywords=orion+skyquest+xt8 With a Barlow lens and the included eyepieces, this will resolve the banding and Great Red Spot on Jupiter (along with the Galilean moons), the rings of Saturn, and various nebulae from inside the city limits of Austin. My family has some property up in the mountains in southern New Mexico which is about as perfect for stargazing and using the telescope as you can imagine. The higher you go, and the darker the night sky, the better off you'll be. But really, just about anywhere outside of the lights of the city will be great. The equatorial mount and tripod both seem sturdy; no complaints here. Obviously, there are much better scopes out there, but for the price as an intro scope, I don't have any complaints about it.
  18. 3x3 at In-N-Out. Haven't gone much lately, but god damn do I love that molten cheesy mess.
  19. DKR, Boone Pickens, Rose Bowl, Notre Dame Stadium, McLain Stadium, Qualcomm, Astrodome, Cotton Bowl, LaVell Edwards Stadium (BYU), Sun Devil Stadium, University of Phoenix Stadium, Neyland Stadium
  20. I actually really like this idea. It would keep things incredibly interesting, week-in, week-out. It also likely would mean you're not out of it after a couple of losses. You'd be playing against other teams that are roughly the same caliber, and there would be more parity than there currently is. Of course, there is the issue of rivalries, which I think is the biggest hurdle to overcome. It's tough. I'd probably trade the occasional season where we're in a different "division" for the enjoyment of all the other games, though. That, and a promotion/relegation system really works well when there are less binary outcomes (W, L, D), which football doesn't really lend itself to. It's an interesting thought.
