  1. To be fair, Sparky did the same thing.
  2. How do you exercise the third-year option knowing all this?
  3. An embarrassment to the franchise. Friday’s press release should have said both Primo and Wright are gone.
  4. Funny how last year people thought we lost the World Series because JV and LMJ were out.
  5. Wasn’t there also the whistling thing back in the 2019 series against Washington? Seems like he allows stuff to get into his head and things go off the rails. He might be able to learn a thing or two from Framber about overcoming it.
  6. Want to take a moment as we all enjoy the win to say fuck Gerrit Cole. He deserves every bit of the vitriol that Beltran got when he left back in 2004.
  7. Respect. Before you posted I was thinking that we've been pretty good for as long as i can remember. My first memories are of the '86 team. Was there as an 8-year-old for Game 6. F the Mets. The '90s through 2007 or so were pretty good record-wise with the Biggio/Bagwell teams, obviously other than the 2000 season. 2010-2013 sucked but it's been fun ever since. I think I saw we've had 21 winning seasons out of our last 30... and in one of those "bad" seasons (2020) we still made it to within one game of the World Series.
  8. Not disagreeing with you at all, but lol at the thought of Dusty Baker, of all people, solely judging people on postseason success.
  9. As a fan of the Astros teams that routinely came up short in the postseason in the ‘80s, ‘90s, and ‘00s, I respected the heck out of Correa’s playoff performances. It also should mean something that he’s easily the best shortstop in franchise history. Who else is really worth mentioning besides pre-injury Dickie Thon?
  10. So Dems supported it 50-0, and Republicans opposed it 43-7… and it’s framed as the Democrats falling short? I wish the media were half as tough on Republicans as Republicans claim the media is.
  11. What makes Texas heat so special is the knowledge that absolutely no relief is coming for at least another 10 weeks. And even then, that “relief” will be a day with highs around 89°, followed by a few more weeks in the mid-90s.
  12. Win #51 ties our win total from 2013, with 84 games to go.
  13. Totally agree. Building and maintaining are two different things. Especially considering the way the Astros built. Luhnow was obviously great at building, but unfortunately he never got the chance to maintain. Maybe he would have been very good there too, but I don’t know that with any certainty. Regardless, Click’s job is different from what Luhnow’s was.
  14. That’s how Mack portrayed it, and it would be interesting to see how the rest of that game (and 2010) played out had Colt not gotten hurt… but under the surface it was already a program in decline. The OL recruiting/development had already fallen off a cliff and the RB corps that year was pretty mediocre. Colt, Shipley, and Muschamp’s defense carried that team.
  15. In aggy’s last five years in the Big 12, they were: 7-6 4-8 6-7 9-4 7-6 Their first year in the SEC, they went 11-2, and haven’t had a losing season since. If those idiots can do it, so can we.
  16. We all hated Mack’s “withstand the other team’s surge” dumbassery back then, but holy shit would it work against Sark.
  17. covidestim.org also showing improvements in overall estimated infections.
  18. Yep. And I largely am sympathetic toward the school boards and superintendents who are now on the front lines of this, without really having those options on the table. The real vitriol should be directed at the legislature and TEA for not funding any kind of remote learning option, regardless of the state of the epidemic.
  19. Yep. Color scheme takes a while to get used to. And while we're on the subject of NE, check out those Sturgis numbers in western South Dakota. Off the charts. Don't get me wrong, it's still high. Crazy high. Over 370 infections per 100k even now. (Austin is at 161 per 100k, for comparison). But the trend is hopeful. It was 488/100k on Aug. 13.
  20. Per this covidestim link that I think someone here posted a few days ago, it seems like San Antonio and Corpus are on a nice decline (with surprisingly low R numbers) and Austin seems to have peaked within the last few days. Dallas, Houston, and Waco are still on the incline in cases, but the R numbers are falling. Fort Worth seems to be in the worst shape, as it's the only big city with R increasing.
  21. Yeah, my hat’s off to NHC for the way they handled Laura last year. There were a lot of people pushing that track towards Beaumont or even farther west, but NHC stuck with Lake Charles and ended up splitting the uprights Justin Tucker-style.
