  1. He shows he's capable of perspective and then basically throws it on the floor and takes a giant dump on it. He was building such a great legacy. This is Phil at Winged Foot #18 but in real life.
  2. I listened to the NLU podcast with the founder of the PGL and that sounded intriguing. They clearly have a well baked plan. PGL makes sense with a 20 man field. I'd be down with his proposal as it could intertwine with the PGA tour rather than usurp it, give fans a rooting interest at the team level, and give events confidence they are going to get a world class field if they risk the money to put on an event. This Saudi league is so shrouded in mystery that I can only guess they don't have a fuck all clue what to do once they get the players signed. If it's just a 20 man stroke play event, that's going to be horrible. Half of those players (at least) are going to suck shit through a straw any given week which gives you only 10 worth showing the shots of. And with only 20 players, the odds of someone running away with it early on is high. Even if it was a full 60ish like a WGC, you run the same risk. At least with a full field event, you are only showing the best 65 that week over the weekend and you get the excitement of fighting for the cut (I'm always intrigued by the cut line story but admittedly GC does a pretty shit job of covering it). I can't wait to see the full list of 20 players. Once they're banned, maybe we add a Ryder Cup style event - PGA vs Saudi.

Aaronson assist (weak assist, but whatever!):

Aaronson with an assist and a beautiful move in the box, forcing a fingertip save by the keeper. All against Bayern fucking Munich. Kid is going to get paid this summer.
  5. Why don't airlines share their no fly lists with each other?
  6. He even threw in a club twirl at the end. Saucy.
  7. They took a while but I'm convinced they did it right. The new lens lineup is stellar, outperforming the F mount counterparts significantly. In camera stabilisation, huge AF improvements. I'm looking forward to the lower weight and smaller profile. Battery life is my only concern. But that's not unique to Nikon, that's universally an issue with mirror less.
  8. Fuck Phil for making me agree with something Brandel Chamblee said.

CP10 (finally) looked good in Tuchel's system but it wasn't in the winger spot - he primarily played as a natural 10 and was effective in doing so. When he wasn't in the 10, he did play out on the left wing with him and Havertz switching back and forth. Having a natural 10 isn't something I've seen much from Tuchel - usually it's two inverted wingers stepping on each other's toes in the middle of the pitch with the 9 yelling at them for their incompetence. This time it was a 10 with two strikers underneath. I don't know if this is a sign of things to come but for the first time in a long time, there are numerous reports giving CP10 praise for his performance. Hopefully Tuchel gives this look another chance.
  10. What about a Nomos like a Orion 38? In house caliber, German design, less than $3k new.
  11. I've decided to get back in the game and start up a mirrorless setup. Selling all my "old" gear if anyone here is interested (take whatever price you see on the links below and knock off $25 if you're in Austin). They have an equally delicate first touch.
  13. Any DIY'ers? Buddy of mine skates and shares the woodworking itch. We've made a few boards under his label (BYO grip tape). Also done a surf board and wake board. Probably never doing that again...
  14. Spieth didn't lose or choke, Hoge won it. That dude played balls out down the stretch and no one was going to match him. Hats off to him. Onward to Phoenix.
  15. Only thing I can offer up is whatever material you pick, you need mass. The denser the better. With a floor underlayment designed for sound proofing plus sound proofing insulation, you'll probably get close enough. Soundproofcow.com has a lot of materials you can use for this purpose.
  16. Dammit, I first read that as Inter Milan and got really excited, but womp womp...

I'm 100% on board for going for the win at Mexico. I think to do that, you have be a bit more conservative than the lineups I mentioned above that have Adams as the one defensive midfielder. Mexico scores goals these days with quick counters (and soft penalties...), they aren't going to break us down. Having an extra safety valve like Acosta or Musah is probably required to keep them off the scoresheet which means one of Weah, Pulisic, or Reyna sits. Then you go all out vs Panama and send the fighting Blas Perez's packing.

If it has to be a 4-3-3 b/c GGG, it's a very aggressive 4-3-3 and Reyna is a bit out of position. He's better centrally. Pulisic - Pepi - Weah McKennie - Adams - Reyna <back 4> 4-2-3-1 makes more sense with your proposed players, though still aggressive. Adams would basically have to sit back and be a shield for the back 4 all game long (which he pretty much does anyways but he would have 0 freedom) Pepi Pulisic - Reyna - Weah McKennie - Adams <back 4> I don't know that either of those are capable of existing inside GGG's thick skull, though.

I have tons of moral outrage as well. Cold fucking sucks. Makes me stuck at home with two bored as shit children for two days straight. Fuck this shit.

I don't think for a second that playing in abysmal conditions in any sport is advantageous for the more talented team. The more mother nature has a role, the less control you have and when you're the more talented team, you want all the control. It has nothing to do with GGG, or soccer, or this team - that's just sports.

    USMNT 2022

It's not showing mercy to the other team - it's putting your OWN team in the best position to win the game.

    USMNT 2022

That's the thing - it didn't guarantee a win at all. I think it did the opposite. Horrid conditions level the playing field, not tilt them towards the more talented team.

    USMNT 2022

I'm too lazy to find the exact quote but GGG compared playing in 0 degrees to playing in 90 degrees + humidity in San Pedro Sula as if they are the same thing - it's just life in CONCACAF. No, you petty a-hole, they're not the same thing. One country has no choice but to play their home games in that kind of weather, the other chooses to put players through an absolute beating just because their imbecile of a head coach is naïve enough to think it would help.

Adams, Acosta, McKennie isn't too offensive to the taste buds. I'd take it for the set pieces.
