Correct, Schumer is arguing that a shutdown would give Trump/Musk blanket powers to do whatever they want. SPecifically, kill the courts that are needed to check the power. His argument means that every CR that comes through the Dems will have to agree to pass, no matter what is in the CR. I don't see how it makes sense.
If Republicans wanted a shutdown so bad, what is stopping them from doing it on their own? Why would they even offer a CR? Are we really to believe they need to pass a faux CR because the publicity would be too bad to force a shutdown? The publicity is already terrible right now, so what is a little more?
