  1. Another class of 2016 guy too. Between, Dunn, Thornton, Davis, and Schooler the average age of our defensive 2-deep would make BYU blush.
  2. Everyone except the a&m propaganda ministers have Harris as a Bama-Texas battle but a large portion of their roster bagging on his buddy can't be a bad thing for us.
  3. Yeah we don't need to go full aggy and pretend Leal isn't good. He's performed up to his ranking and will be a first round pick. He's also a little bitch who drank the koolaid so he can fuck right off.
  4. Damn, I expect it from Leon but not sure why Leal decided to subtweet a guy who wasn't even on campus for 6 months.
  5. Man, this might not be the right place for this but I just saw Jonathan Tjarks has cancer, doesn't sound good at all. Mavs fan/Texan that writes for the Ringer, used to write DMN. Fuck cancer
  6. Agreed, this is a good point. I think of Sandler that way too even though he’s obviously a really different type of actor. I’ve seen some god awful Sander movies but I’ve never thought while watching them that his acting was the problem or wondered who thought he could pull that off. And when he’s stretched himself like in Uncut Gems he’s been good. I guess she’s mostly retired now but how about Cameron Diaz? She was fine in lighter rom-com stuff but then in Gangs of New York, surrounded by incredible actors, she’s so distractingly bad. She just clearly wasn’t on the level for that part.
  7. Joaquin Phoenix too. His characters in Gladiator, HER, the Master, Inherent Vice, and You Were Never Really Here are all pretty wildly different in what he’s asked to do and he’s always great. He’s also done the “play a really famous person in a biopic” thing and was great in that as well.
  8. How sad does your life have to be to write an OpEd that one of your favorite things in the world, puns on a child's ride, can no longer be enjoyed because now all you can think about is the racist Native American character that is missing. This shit is bleak: Poor bastard. I know there is a thread on the site about Disney World, I haven't read it so I don't know the vibe. No offense to anyone but grown adults who make Disney a huge part of their identity are weird as shit to me. My daughter is just getting old enough where she would enjoy a theme park and I'm dreading it. I'll value seeing her face light up and her excitement whenever we go but as soon as she grows into being old enough to enjoy real travel we are never going back. I can't imagine an annual trip with teenagers to Disney World or thinking that trip was actually about me and not my kid.
  9. That would be pretty funny. I didn't realize they were still looking for a permanent guy, figured they would give Jones a tryout interim year and then reevaluate in December given the weird timing. I bet Elko could do better than that after another strong season though.
  10. Ha, well you conveniently cut off the part where I said he is an amazing actor. I was just speaking to his range and how it's not necessary to being great. Think of your top 3 or 5 favorite Denzel performances. No matter what you choose I bet you can describe the character he plays using adjectives like "intense, confidant, charming, determined, hypercompetent...". He kind of does what he does and he's literally the best at it. You can't really do the same exercise with someone like Philip Seymour Hoffman. He has way more range than Denzel but that doesn't necessarily make him a better actor, it's just different. Any list of the best actors in the last 30 years would have to include them both.
  11. J. Thompson got banged up in the last scrimmage and they shut him down for the rest of spring. I haven't heard anything about Crawford being hurt, I bet it was just an oversight in that writeup.
  12. I think you could argue somebody like Denzel doesn't really have a huge range but he's obviously an amazing actor. His force of personality kind of makes every character he plays a Denzel-type placed in whatever genre the movie is. Also I think the "range" discussion for real movie stars kind of misses the point of what movie stars are. Or at least what they used to be. In older Hollywood during the studio heyday the biggest stars were cast in the same type of part over and over again because audiences wanted to show up and see them do the thing they loved. Range was for character actors that aren't in the center of the frame and aren't responsible for the box office returns.
  13. Yet the terrible targeting rule stays as is I guess? God a hate that fucking thing. There is no more punitive rule in any sport for an action that often happens without any intent and sometimes even outside of the offender's control.
  14. Thank Christ you corrected his "good" to "above average". That gross overstatement of Sam's career just could not stand.
  15. Really subtle humble-brag to remind everyone of how good his bowl performance was. Strong veteran move, we'll see how Card counters.
  16. Yeesh...quite a look. He’ll fit in fine in Ohio honestly. (Unless he flips I’ll then I’ll pretend to be delighted about how funny I think his bleached blonde mullet is.)
  17. Yeah I doubt they would wait this long and then trap door a kid who signed a LOI but Cain would probably be the first on the list. WR is the last place where we need more guys on scholarship that aren't going to produce. Even if the staff identifies Merril as a total JAG they can't really push him out and leave us with a single OL in the class. Thanks Hand!
  18. IT on Denvis Harris: Great news getting him on campus. Wonder if we see that list grow more over the next few days.
  19. There aren't any rumors about it but it's also possible that the coaches are aware of a grades or clearinghouse issue that could keep someone from enrolling and open up another spot I guess. 11 signed guys yet to enroll fwiw. https://247sports.com/college/texas/Season/2021-Football/Commits/
  20. Yeah, pretty odd to offer a NT when we seem deep and talented there and numbers are getting tight. The only thing I can think of is maybe Sweat had some kind of setback in his rehab?
  21. Agreed completely, I though it was great until the ending:
