  1. Phog.net is ok but when KUsports.com went downhill all boards pretty much splintered apart taking 10-25% of the fans that would post. Nothing is even sniffing “average”.
  2. Poster on the Ku boards that has had good sources in the past says the deal is done. Also says “it’s a great day to be a jayhawk” after all recent chatter has been about leipold. Would be an amazing hire if we could get him.
  3. Played karsten creek today in stoolwater. 88 from the whites. 4 doubles. 2 triples. An eagle. A birdie. 2 birdies on insanely tough 4-5 foot putts that became bogeys after a 3 jack. Taking a 4 foot put that turned 12 inches left to right and left me 12 feet away if missed high or low. Great course. Pristine shape (ZERO WINTER KILL). A great round that could have easily been my first round in the 70s. Back to the grind after 4 straight days on the course. Oh yeah... 21mph average wind with 40mph gusts. Was awesome.
  4. You’ll never putt that well again...
  5. Nothing at first, but the free market will end it. Just like one and done in basketball. Players declared at an alarming rate in the first couple of years then a ton of them were left without a chair when the music stopped. Now translate that to businesses paying players. If you spend 5k on a kid and then your kid gets recruited over or never plays you’re not going to be as quick to trust the coach when he says “we need your money to get this guy.” Further, you aren’t going to run a business into the ground to support a football program. There will be massive spending early on but the market will stabilize and only 25% of the roster will get paid at the end of the day. Couple that with the transfer rule and business will not be wanting to dump money on kids for them to just leave. Finally, many of the businesses who are willing to pay players also have owners who independently donate to the program already. Do you think they’ll double their donations via private and business or scale back their donations and only give through the most tax advantageous manner? I think NIL will be wild at first but I think it’ll end up calming down once all of the consequences are shown. Ford motors isn’t going to start paying KU players because the CEO was an alumni.
  6. We’ve won 22 total games from august 2010 until today. That’s 2 per season and are coming off 2 zero win seasons in the late 6 years (including last season). Direct and simple question, at what level of suck would you say “yeah it’s about time to triple option”? I could make an argument that the reason every bit of talent and every team runs the spread is because of what KU, UL, WVU, Rutgers, Utah, and even Duke!!, were able to do when they adopted the offense that no one ran or prepared for back in the mid 00’s. The parity wasn’t good for the Texas/OU’s of the world and smaller schools were winning with lesser players. If now isn’t the time for the pendulum to swing the opposite direction and to try something else then it never will be for a program like KU. That being said, I want Leipold because I think he can win now. If he isn’t the guy then bring In monken and tell him we are running the triple option.
  7. My putting is back. After going from a 10.1 to a 14.1 I’m back down to a 13.3 with a 92, 89, 86, 86. All on the heels of having less than 30 putts per round. Two of which were 26 putt rounds. Finally just got back to trusting the arrow on the ball where I lay it and making sure my head is out over the ball at address.
  8. This is how you moneywhip someone. Didn’t work out but this is the way and the cost for all you guys who think UT should do that for every possible coaching position available. Hell of a turndown by Stevens. I know he’s got a lot of leash in Boston but if they couldn’t get to the finals a few years ago and can’t finish better than second in the Atlantic going forward then he’s going to have a hot seat in the next 2-3 years. I’m not sure what the Celtics pay him but I hope it’s close to 10M. Doc rivers might put him out of a job... then get fired for losing when you 3-1 in 3 straight years, then take stevens’ job.
  9. The difference is WSU is the biggest small school in the state. Abilene is one of a million small schools in the state that you have to compete with.
  10. Not going to lie... his 401k flex is weak.
  11. I’m trying to root out the resources thing. I’ve asked for a line item budget from the board and an equipment ledger with useful life estimates on equipment. The super always falls back on his resources from what it sounds like but he also says “it’s too expensive” when a 2k cost arises. I have the club financials from 2017-2018 and his general budget then was 1.65M. Need to dig into the numbers there. I know he gets paid between 120k and 140k and has good benefits. My home course the super is the best in the state/area, was stolen from colonial and gets paid 130k. No reason our club can’t have a great super, especially given our annual excess cash flow is about 700k a year.
  12. Shot the 300 blk integral. Damn that so quiet. And didn’t expect recoil that was the level of a 22lr. Best purchase I’ve ever made. Bar none
  13. Yep. I know all of the junior and mid-tier members (I’m in the middle tier at age 36) would be willing to sacrifice various things to ensure the course is ready for play in April and may. It appears the full members aren’t willing to ever sacrifice. Which makes selling the ROI a really difficult thing. It seems the older members would rather play a goat ranch than be told carts on path. Unfortunately at our club, only full members have a voice. I’m 4 years from that but I might tell the board I’ll pay full dues if I can win a board seat next year depending on how this committee position goes.
  14. He doesn’t have a plan. For instance, we have started using gates for entry and exit from the fairway. He placed entry gates about 150 yards down the fairway resulting in people driving halfway down the hole to drive back to their ball (women and seniors typically). When we asked why they weren’t at the front of the fairway he literally said he doesn’t know and has never used a gate concept before. The course is in bad shape and he only thinks about fishing. He aweiated the tee boxes but didn’t want to disturb golf with doing the fairways. We have black mud by some greens so we asked if he should sod there. He bends down, cuts out a sprig of Bermuda and shows us the white roots with a smile saying “see I told you this wasn’t dead”. Never mind that there are about 4 sprigs per 10 square inches. Everyone wants the guy fired because he doesn’t see a bigger picture. My worry is that the board and the committee don’t see a bigger picture either.
  15. Our course looks like shit. Such shit that membership is getting very loud about it. Greens are fine (just punched) but the winter kill, general neglect for bunkers and fairways, and absolutely sparse Bermuda rough I couldn’t take it anymore. I joined the greens and grounds committee. Last week was our first meeting and I’m already disheartened. The 3 guys on the committee that play every single day are already playing whack-a-mole with addressing a pots on the course they recently had a bad shot on. I’m worried that our course is toast for the year.
  16. There are easily 300 programs that would take Barnes over their current coach if there were no monetary consequences and it was just open season for hiring. He will put your program on the map. At the end of the day the measures of a good coach at the AD level are 1. Do your amount of tournament losses equal your years coaching minus 1-7 and 2. Do you have more tourney wins than losses? No coach goes to the tourney every year of their career and only 1 coach escapes the tourney without a loss each year. Barnes is probably a top 5% coach in the college ranks. He is fun to clown on though.
  17. If you are OSU or any other school that got in trouble for an assistant coach taking a bribe you shouldn’t be punished harsh at all with that being the precedent. The shoe company schools might have a harder time but Depending on the schools commitment to the coach (specifically KU) I don’t see how we don’t drag it out for 10 years in court. By then you have to think the NCAA will be either dead or on it’s death bed which will mean minor if any punishment.
  18. Hope the best for Howard. He doesn’t add much from a coaching standpoint but he is the guy who will connect with the players on a human level. Lot of upside but lot of downside. His recruits were either boom or bust for us.
  19. Cab/shuttle to the ferry then the shitshow of a cattle train takes 45 minutes to get off the port. From landing in Cancun you’re easily an hour and a half or 2 hours to isla and that’s if you bust balls to the front of the customs line. Maybe with what I’m looking for that is always going to be the case but I’m hoping to find a beach just like isla that is a reasonable price to fly direct into and be at the residence/hotel in half the time. Tell them 30 gerbils and no green skittles in the candy bowl.
  20. Been 3 times. Love the place just want to try something new... oh and my last trip with my ex-fiancée was to there. I asked her to marry me that trip. I’m basically looking for the same atmosphere and situation just not there. But that is also because it was a bit of a hassle to get to the island. If there is something easier I’d love to hear it. Been looking at USVI a lot. Puerto Rico has cheap hookers I’ve heard.
  21. I think we got him because of self. I think there were better candidates but I don’t doubt self and him had a chat about the basketball program and what self needs for support and what he doesn’t need to continue to compete at an elite level. Lot of wink wink in that meeting I’m guessing and Goff was probably the candidate that agreed to keep the basketball program the strongest.
  22. Drew started to get it together when he aborted the zone full time. that being said, KU easily wins it all last year. We were undefeated with a healthy 8 man. 3 losses all of which were without our 75% shooting bug man or 1 without our all American point guard. congrats to drew. He’s earned some respect. Follow it up with more E8’s and F4’s and become the second best couch in the league... or better yet... call UNC and ask them to fire Hubert.
  23. Drew just won me 2900$ fuck Scott drew and fuck Baylor
  24. Curfew isn't a deal breaker but definitely a boner killer. That being said, staying out late and drinking has killed a lot of my boners as well. Sounds like the place to go is San Pedro area. Is the beach nice in that area? Where should I look to stay where drinking a mai tai in waist deep water is a good option for my 11am warm up drink?
  25. Got it. Where in belize would you stay? My ideal vacation is one where you can either walk or hop on a golf cart and effectively just pub/restaurant crawl alongside the beach. Activities are nice but I prefer drunken exploring to whale watching on a boat with 30 other people.
