Man I hope so. We need to see some of the violence inherent in the system directed at elected representatives.
but they will all be coming home after “making their point” and the vote will happen. Hopefully Newsom Pritzker et al make good on their promises threats to do the same
They(the Biden administration) absolutely should have leaned into Trump as a threat to democracy. Garland should have been on tv giving press conferences about what they were doing to stop him. The WH press secretary should have been giving daily briefings about his being a traitor, insurrectionist, etc. basically everything Bondi and the cross wearing cunt are doing currently.
And Biden should have been front and center railing on him nonstop. But, you know…
I started suspecting something might be up when we moved to southeast Texas and got cable. I saw a match on TBS where the Freebirds were being cheered instead of booed.
Then I realized the people in Atlanta are all just assholes
Yes thread got sidetracked by a troll. So much amazing content that never would have happened without CPB

And of course without CPB the Ken Burns documentaries never get made; for all his flaws and the valid criticisms of his films, they are the richest, most in depth portraits of our country and its people that have ever been put in such an accessible format
nothing like this going forward will be created and that is a shameful stain on our government and us for voting them in
Is your argument that because they collect a lot from O&G, the federal government is collecting as much as they should collect from them? Because that’s a pretty fucking dumb argument.
Much of these arguments seem to be focused on how you can still see the classics like Mr Rogers, Sesame Street, etc online or on cable services. While true, you aren’t going to get as much new quality content going forward. Most if not all npr and pbs shows that become nationwide hits start with a tiny budget on a local station and are able to grow into what they become. That is where CPB money was focused.
I can’t imagine how many of these shows try and fail for every one that becomes a nationwide program (and many of those succeed and are cherished at the local level). All that is gone now. Just like with the brain drain that is coming due to the harassment of university faculty and the bullshit going on with visas; these true damage of these cuts won’t be felt for a decade.
Also, it is not true that “zero” kids (and adults) require OTA public media to have access to these shows. It’s like last mile mail and package delivery. It is extremely difficult and the government is the most efficient of all the inefficient ways to accomplish it. Hell I get shit all the time from Amazon that starts out as an Amazon or UPS / FedEx on the app and winds up coming by USPS and I live smack in the middle of one of the biggest cities in the country
