  1. Yep. If someone is struggling to find someone, finding a good therapist is a good idea. Most likely the person has personal problems that need to be addressed. These guys don't have the ability to properly communicate and relate to others. My bet is that they simultaneously come across too strong and too weak at the same time. Here's what I've learned from making too many mistakes in dating. Meet a woman you may like, ask for her number. Don't copy Swingers and call/text 5x that night but also don't wait 1 week. Text her the next day to say you want to take her out on a date. Be clear it's a date. Tell her the time AND place. "Drinks at ABC bar on Thur at 7." Don't ask her where she wants to go. Do all of this and her friends will be impressed, which is key for younger women. If she declines and doesn't offer an alternative night, move on. And as the first & subsequent dates approach, confirm with her. "Looking forward to seeing you tonight at ABC @ 7."
  2. What was said on Rogan's show that led to someone stalking Hotez?
  3. not sure it should be here or the 88th legislature thread but what was the background on eliminating the vehicle safety inspections? Most of us keep our vehicles safe, but we've all seen plenty of vehicles on the road that appear completely unsafe or not fully functional. There are some who will drive tires to the threads/when the tire disintegrates. While that could point to current flaws (e.g. brother-in-law passing your vehicle) I don't understand blowing up the entire system. Of all of the real and imagined problems in Texas, how is making the streets less safe a priority. Is there some anti-inspection lobby that I was unaware of?
  4. Practically speaking if someone is weighing retirement math and the 0.5% extra is making retirement possible/feasible, that person should work a couple of more years. Measure twice, cut once. Especially if you’re early retiring in your prime earning years which is usually in your 50s. Obviously different for different people and careers. say you have an above average $2m in a 401k and you’re weighing 4 or 4.5%. That’s an extra $800 per month. Is that really moving the needle for someone with a lifestyle and they also saved $2m? I bet that person doesn’t care much about $800. Work for 2 more years and bank as much as possible. If your balance grows to $2.25m, then that $800 is realized at 4%. it’s important to remember that when you’re 55 (men), your life expectancy is 24-25 years. You need the money to last.
  5. I imagine there is a webpage or app that spins thru 20 ridiculous topics that trigger the right. Landed on endangered species today.
  6. Not sure where to post this but Instant Brands (owner of Instant Pot and Pyrex) failed for bankruptcy protection. https://www.reuters.com/business/pyrex-kitchenware-maker-files-chapter-11-bankruptcy-2023-06-12/ Two years ago, they borrowed $500m, immediately gave half of that to their investors as a dividend , and today they can’t make the debt payments. https://www.yahoo.com/now/instant-brands-holdings-inc-moodys-201206894.html Why worry about doing well in the future when you can pull that money out today.
  7. You handled that question right. None of those are specific reasons to judge performance. As for the age, Trump is 77 and Biden is 80. That difference is nothing. Now I do think that if DeSantis is the nominee, age becomes a factor. The VP pick for Trump and Biden are important to consider because both of them would not potentially survive 4 years.
  8. Yes, right wing talking points can be effective because they're overly simplistic and they count on the other side not being able to counter act them with similarly simple talking points. Newsome knocked it out of the park by not following standard Dem answers. Hence why Newsome saying that other countries have worse inflation rate so how is that Biden's fault if not demonstrating how well Biden is doing. Or that Biden has created more jobs than the last 3 GOP presidents combined. Or that even if Biden's job creation is a post-COVID bump why is the unemployment rate at a historic low? You can't reply with a doctorate level thesis about why the GOP speaker is wrong. Have a few canned sentences that even a moron can understand. When you make a point, don't let them switch to another topic. Force them to reply to your response. Newsom made Hannity look like a 1st grader. As far as Newsom on the big stage, he will have to address the question on "do you want America to be California." That GOP message will play in swing states. He will need to show how CA is in better than GA, AZ, WI, MI or PA. You can't be defensive. Instead he would need to stand proud of CA. EDIT: I think a Dem CA governor could be elected President. Newsom's biggest problem is that he was the SF mayor. That's different since even liberal Dems struggle to explain SF.
  9. When someone says Biden hasn't done a good job, ask for specifics. They won't be able to go very deep in how Biden has done a poor job, and like Hannity, they will quickly want to jump topics. When they're caught without info, they will inevitably jump to senility. And I agree that Biden is not as sharp as he once was, but ask how that has negatively impacted his performance.
  10. Newsom owned Hannity, who wasn’t prepared for someone to defend Biden. Dems shouldn’t be defensive when someone attacks Biden or Dem policies. Be on the offensive when the right attacks. I still stand behind my belief that the US has never been stronger than today. Not perfect by any means but the best overall it has ever been.

  12. I've never understood the idea that dying early into retirement is either sad or a waste. It could also be that the person led a very fulfilling professional/pre-retirement life. So what if their retirement days were limited. You can't miss something that never occurred. I suppose people can have regrets that they didn't retire earlier but spending a minute regretting the past is an even bigger waste. My guess is that someone who regrets not retiring earlier may not have lived very well pre-retirement anyway. Working doesn't prevent you from living. I've also spoken with a few older people who care more about leaving something to their children as opposed to spending it themselves, perhaps even to the point of neglecting their current or future needs. I don't have kids so I'm not in this mindset. Maybe it's a parental thing that some parents always want to help out their children regardless of their age.
  13. Garth genuinely wants to bring everyone together and feels he’s the guy to do it. It’s a bit arrogant but he looks to have nothing but good intentions. but on that note, Nashville comes across as a place that wouldn’t want to be near. And I love Vegas.
  14. Yep. turning on your co-defendant is a feature not a bug. Assuming the other person has more to lose.
  15. Well if George's lawyer says it, it must be true. I'm satisfied with the answer.
  16. Embarrassed to say but I actually watched some of this dude's story on that 90 day fiancé show. Very entertaining. I think I was also forced to watch an American woman find her dream man in Africa. But back to this dude. He has some unique physical characteristics that definitely create challenges in finding a mate. He was previously married and has an adult daughter. Via this show, he finds "true love" in a 20 yo Filipino woman. Only facetime visits at the start of the show before he traveled over there. She was attractive but when he visited her, she lived in poverty at least from an American's point of view. Hijinks ensued and he was pissed when he realized that she only wanted him to compensate her family and move her to the US. She didn't truly love him. Shocker. They did imply that she finally slept with him. once.
  17. The main downside of partnering with corrupt individuals is that you're partnering with corrupt individuals. They can't wait to throw you under the bus, or use you to get them out of trouble.
  18. Should the Texas Solicitor General be using a foreign-based email service (proton) that cannot be audited by the State of Texas? I suppose he's free to do what he wants in his private or non-public life but he shouldn't be using it for state business.
  19. The so-called Passport Bros are making a big mistake. I assume they want the American lifestyle but they're unable to find an American girl who will see them beyond date 1 and eventually marry them. There must be many adjustments (i.e. everything) to moving to and marrying a girl in a 3rd world country.
  20. When Abbott replaced Perry, I thought Abbott would be slightly more reasonable. Maybe I was blinded by the A&M grad to UT grad aspect, or just that I thought Perry was a moron. I almost look back more fondly to the Perry days now...
  21. That is exactly what I would expect to hear from someone who is obviously addicted to adrenochrome to keep them young and evil. Please turn yourself in to the nearest QAnon sargeant-at-arms ASAP.
  22. brag, I expect that we'll see fake videos showing him drinking the blood.
  23. You can’t tell me that the craziness of the GOP politicians especially in the House doesn’t impact justices’ votes.
  24. Crazy to believe that we have wealthy and powerful people in politics that are openly campaigning for Paxton to be acquitted, or they will do everything in their power to remove officeholders. I'm not naïve and know this has always been how it is but previously they did it behind closed doors. Now they're opening threatening politicians. Why not just send Moose and Rocco to influence votes via violence.
