This is an unreasonable take at this point in time. I hate the guy’s guts but you have to acknowledge that what happened today is at least a very positive first step towards a tough goal. It may all mean nothing a year from now, but at this point it has to be acknowledged as progress.

Wait, didn't Trump say this was Rocket Man's only shot?

    One game at a time.
    South Carolina beats arky tonight.
Things work out for us when we play them in the CWS as well.

New coach, too.  Plenty of experience, though, with a CWS title as an assistant at Miami.  Not all that different than Pierce although at least DP is in his 2nd season.

  3. Same exact story for me, minus the planned trip.  "Dad keeps falling, I couldn't get him up this time, we're at the hosptial, they see something on the image."

He died less than 6 months later.

It will never get easier but you will feel his presence as a guiding light.  It is strangely comforting.  Sorry for your loss.  RIP to Mr. XYZ.

  4. It's easy to succumb to combat fatigue, but sometimes a team has something special, and you can see it as it unfolds, even if human nature tells you to discount what you're seeing.  I think that's what's happening here.

We've been absolutely puckered about this pitching staff all season, but once these guys entered the post-season, they've been absolute nails (1.67 ERA).  Our fan's perspective is born of shell shock -- "oh shit, no way we can sustain this" -- but at some point you have to look at what's happening and conclude "maybe these guys have turned the corner".

This team can absolutely do some damage in Omaha even if they're nowhere near the baseball equivalent of VY and the 2005 NC team.

I'm nobody here but fuck this way of thinking. If they're Gerrymandering congressional districts, we should push for fair, representative districts.

One problem here:  historically, redistricting has mostly just swung from gerrymandering one direction to doing the same the other way around.  There doesn't seem to be any REAL impetus to ignore demographics and design districts according to other, more supportable demographics.

  6. LOL.  Body parts, how do they work?

Couldn't be that he was coming off of Tommy John surgery in August of his sophomore year and was extremely limited? And he maybe weighs 185.

Oh, so it was an injury to a shoulder than caused him to hit a hundred points lower and 20 home runs fewer? I gotcha.

I just feel like Dems are too self-critical about superficial shit.

Democrats are like UT fans.  The self-loathing is palpable.  The desire to ALWAYS take the higher road is off the charts.

The high road works, except when it doesn't.  If you enter an MMA fight expecting a debate then you get what you deserve.  Fuck decorum.

  8. Laugh or don't, but there used to be an Irish restaurant on 34th St. north of campus called "O'Brien's' that eventually renamed to "Senor O'Brien's" as they started adding TexMex items to their menu.  Their nachos were incredible.  A huge mountain of well-layered chips, cheese, pico, jalapenos, and black beans with a little sour cream and guac on the side.

And to the Nazi who thinks the only good nacho is some sort of hand-smeared tostada, fuck that.
