  1. Cro-Magnon is 50+ but likely will still be saying "dude" when in a rest home.
  2. OP should know that Marc Ott was aware of this before he was.
  3. Hah, I forgot about Ward getting popped on West 6th. I think he stayed out of the cage, completely, with Art's help.
  4. Interesting, thanks for posting.
  5. Can't wait to also see the (tenured) council members evaluating their own performance and contributions to this clusterfuck.
  6. Special city council meeting on Thursday to evaluate Cronk's job performance. Probably means he's getting a raise.
  7. Yeah, I don't get this and haven't heard it addressed. Seems like there would be trucks in from 1/2 dozen other cities or the like.
  8. Jackie Sargent is as good as gone. The really interesting part will be to see if Cronk gets the axe. He's had other issues so this may be the icing on the cake for him. Poor choice of words, oh well.
  9. That's correct on the tree trimming, or reticence to do so. Is Austin Energy solely doing the repairs? Or are other cities involved? Seems like when there are hurricanes, tornadoes or whatever, you'll see trucks coming in from outside the affected city.
  10. "...expect to restore power to nearly all remaining customers by Feb 12." Ouch.
  11. I subjected myself to the UH / Temple game this afternoon. John Chaney would be proud. That team's a rock fight, nothing more or nothing less. UH is weird, a bizarre team. Sampson is greasy, no doubt. But there's no doubt he can coach really well. UH may go down in the first round or play at home that Saturday in Houston. Closer to the former than the latter. Did not know that both Quannas White and Hollis Price were on Sampson's staff. Not relevant to anything. The latter just evokes bad memories like Quinten Griffin, just not as bad.
  12. One thing from our Christmas week trip....if you're going to do any touristy thing make sure you include the Summit One Vanderbilt. You get the outstanding, open air skyscraper views including an unparalleled look at the ESB. But a lot more. This is a must see / do. Not a must do is going the week of Christmas. Avoid at all costs. We had a great time but everything was just packed, and beyond.
  13. So pathetic to hear that some of you are relying on candles for a 6th night in a city of this size. In a situation where we saw a massive ice storm on the horizon, 3 days in advance, on shitty web sites like Surly Horns. It really sucks and is sad. But it's no surprise. Maybe this brings about some internal changes within the COA and how we focus on and we be reprioritize things.
  14. Migas with extra grilled onions and fresh japs (not pickled japs) along with dona from Los Jaliscienses. The latter is the best in Austin, including Taco Deli.
  15. There's a wing nut conservative on the city council who pulls more and more weight every day. I don't give a shit about party lines - red, blue, green, yellow, whatever. I hate pretty much all politicians, but especially those prone to idiocy and negligence. And we just have way too much of that in our backyard and it sucks that some of you still don't have lights tonight because of it.
  16. PSA...Heavy dose of Facenda and Super Bowl highlights right now on the NFL Network.
  17. Thread topic fits given this unbridled power fiasco. Sucks for all of you continuing without it. No other way to describe it. As of now there's 65,000 customers still in the dark. Over how many days? Who knows at this point . Marc Ott probably has a handle on it from 1,500 miles away and three days behind the rest of the world. That's how pathetic the situation is. We're the 10th largest city in the country, beating our chests at how progressive we are and at the forefront of everything - technologically and otherwise. Surveys and consultants everywhere, including how to best immerse bicycles onto major thoroughfares and so much more shit. We have so much money at our disposal that, regardless of it being an abject failure over and over, we set aside $60MM a year to try and house a few thousand homeless people. $60MM. Yet, we can't figure out how to turn the lights on for our citizens. No worries. We'll still give the city manager a raise in a few months. The same person who is overseeing everyone involved in this clusterfuck. I see the "sighs" or "damns" and, justifiably, livid people on this board. But there will never be enough of those, from this clusterfuck, or anything else, to get rid of the unbridled fucksticks overseeing Austin - the city manager, council, you name it. Because for all of the idiocy under that umbrella there's 10X that in the voting base that will continue to simply enable and vote in the buffoonery, directly or indirectly, because they're uneducated idiots when it comes to what's going on. Nothing's going to change. So just continue bending over. Unfortunately, some of you are doing it in the dark for the 4th or 5th night this evening.
  18. No shit, this is really pathetic for those of you still out. Surprised one of you hasn't taken a fucking baseball bat to Cronk's house and demand that he vacate his (heated) residence.
  19. Baylor onslaught. Getting Tchat back is really big for them.
  20. Says "CHAN SAW" I think. Wife may hate the Asian neighbor.
