  1. That was an excellent season opener.
  2. I have a ton of family in Cali (Central Valley/San Jose area). I like it there alright. Is it better than NYC? Fuck no. Yes I’ve never been to NY in the winter but a ball player wouldn’t have to be there then either.
  3. Punters are a lot better now at controlling the bounce. Now it’s more like you fair catch anything outside the 2. I disagree with the new school of thought though. To me the potential of a touchback is well worth the 2-3 yards you save with a fair catch. It’s stupid.
  4. TIL that baseball season extends into January. Seriously, the weather argument is so stupid. No MLB players are in their city in the winter
  5. LA has only about 64,000 Japanese and Japanese-American residents combined. A whopping 1.5% of the population. Enjoy being around all those familiar folks Sasaki.
  6. What kind of bullshit participation trophy mindset is this?
  7. Maybe I mistook his tentativeness as a lack of speed. I did like the vision I was seeing, he was seeing the right holes, getting skinny, then bringing contact to the 2nd level guys. Didn’t have the top end speed I thought he would. I think he’s a perfect wildcat QB. Can hit a pop pass, and due to his background I think he can hit some more challenging passes too. It’d be a mistake to use him primarily as a WR I think.
  8. I think Terry should’ve been a low 4 star. I have high hopes for him since he’s from San Antonio. But I watched all of his last playoff game and was not impressed, he looked slow and like he did not care about the game at all. Did not participate in the team warm-up after halftime. However he did have a circus catch over a DB in the 4th, so there’s talent there for sure. Since he has no speed, I’d love to see him bulk up and get his attitude fixed. He’s comfortable taking snaps, he’s slow but shifty and powerful. And he can catch passes. He’d be a hell of a redzone weapon.
  9. Great article by Mike Axisa explaining his HOF ballot choices, and what it meant to become a voter this year after first becoming a baseball writer by starting a small online blog 19 years ago: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/baseball-hall-of-fame-peak-players-ped-guys-on-mike-axisas-ballot-plus-a-surprising-ichiro-consideration/
  10. You guys live in Katy and fucking tomball and say you’re from Houston. I’ve visited NYC and love the Yankees so I’ll say I’m in NYC and we’ll call it even.
  11. Right now they’re all tied to international bonus money. So yeah, when the only difference between signing somewhere is a few hundred thousand or a million I might as well shave a couple hours off the flight home. It’s bullshit that the dodgers get this advantage over everyone else simply by pure luck of franchise location. When the difference can becomes millions or tens of millions of dollars, now other teams have more of a fair shot. Matsui played here, Kuroda, Suzuki, Tanaka, all played here and loved it. I’ve been to both and can’t imagine someone liking LA over NYC. But this new generation of Japanese players won’t give any other teams even a thought now. It’s bad for the game /rant
  12. People writing well-wishes and other heartfelt messages on here like the player will ever see them is so funny to me. Dude was a great QB for us and gave it his all. That’s everything needed to be said
  13. UIW? You mean UTRGV’s future doormat? We can bring him down, tell him to spend a night in Reynosa, and see how much he still likes drugs after. We need playmakers and he needs a chance to prove himself. It’s a perfect match
  14. I guess I missed when we ever had a complete monopoly on NPB talent. This is bullshit and bad for the game. Remove them from the international bonus pool and let teams actually bid on them. Then let’s see how many of these guys actually give a shit about playing on the west coast
  15. If he goes to the dodgers Manfred needs to step in and do something. It’s getting fucking absurd
  16. It was healthy enough for him to jump for absolutely no reason and drop that 3rd down conversion against Ohio state.
  17. Sounds like Brian Matusz may have died of a drug overdose. His mom had taken him to the ER 2 days prior after a he had a mental health episode, and they referred him to a mental health facility but he apparently wasn’t admitted. They went home and his mom found him dead 2 days later after she hadn’t heard from him. https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/sports/orioles-mlb/former-orioles-pitcher-brian-matusz-cause-of-death-investigation-YKEXBCKWONC47DQVJGOEFUMPOY/?utm_content=bc_eoa
  18. Uh, you guys know DBs aren’t meant to win 1v1 drills like that right? No WR has the time to make moves like that at the line. As the DB there you’re just focused on shading him. But still, is Lockett going to cook people once he gets here? Absolutely
  19. People still think Belichik is a good coach? Brady leaving exposed him for what he was
  20. Their one and only goal that day was to not get shutout so they could keep their scoring streak alive.
  21. I won’t miss him at all.
  22. Unless you’re Derrick Henry you don’t want your RB to be that tall
  23. He led us to a great season, he has the machine running, and he can get us back to the promised land. He also struggles calling red zone plays and the toss play was fucking stupid as fuck. All those things can be true
