  1. As usual, in the winner’s name I will take $100 from my personal checking account and donate it to my personal savings account at the end of the year. Last year’s winner was Ryan Estrada. Chingon Trophy Watchlist Jermaine Santana-Diaz - S, Fort Bend Ridge Point (SR): Committed to Colorado State for some reason, over some better offers IMO. Sidenote, Ridge Point has a fuckton of FBS offers on their team. All just to get bounced by Katy/North Shore/Atascosita in the playoffs. Justin Morales - OL, El Paso Franklin (SR): El Paso his having probably its greatest run ever of elite talent. Morales (Kansas St), Del Valle QB Jake Fette (Arizona St), El Dorado RB Ryan Estrada (Minnesota) are all P4 commits in this years class. Keep an eye on 2029 ATH Noah Tarrant as well out of Pebble Hills, he already has 7 FBS offers. Juan Hernandez - CB, GP North Shore (SO): Devin Sanchez’s heir apparent is ready to step in for the Mustangs. Has an offer from Arizona State. Ethan Guerra - RB, PSJA North (SR): a difference maker since his freshman year, he’ll probably have a 2000 yard season in this run heavy offense. UTRGV better take notice. DK Garza - RB, Alamo Heights (SR): I’ll say it, he was a more valuable player for them than Michael Terry last year. Single-handedly brought them back into the CC Miller game in the playoffs, including an electric kick return TD. Committed to Cornell
  2. Is there a worser run org in baseball? Jesus.
  3. You guys know this is a Drake reference right? I can’t think of anything lamer for a high school kid to put on a backplate. Drake isn’t cool at all anymore.
  4. I’ve only been downtown/pearl/southtown maybe 5 times in the past 2 years. Literally actually going inside 410, obviously yeah I’ll do that more often. Lately just to watch my girlfriend play softball at brackenridge park
  5. I dont hate it here. I’ve always found the “culture” here to be overrated and watered down compared to where I’m from. But thinking about it now what was I really expecting moving out of what is likely the most heavily hispanic area of the country. I currently live around Nacogdoches and 1604, I rarely venture inside 410 as in my mind I’ve already seen and done all there is to do here and then some. I’m not a basketball fan and only have 2 friends that were both basketball fans, but they don’t follow the NBA much at all anymore after the spurs fell off. In my mind the rest of the city did the same. Maybe I’m in a bubble but it’s hard not to feel validated when you go online and see so many people agreeing with you.
  6. Half of the Yankees are clearly on the take several nights a week, more and more talk about it on Yankee social media. But go off queen
  7. In total I’ve lived here almost half my life, including the past 12 years in a row. So I think I know what I’m talking about. The vast majority of people here don’t give a shit about basketball or the spurs, especially with how bad they are now. Most people will say their favorite team is the spurs but they don’t go to or watch the games, or follow the team. Nowadays if I see a guy with a spurs tat or a bunch of spurs gear my first thought is he’s an orejon, not a big spurs fan. Their connection with the city is gone and the France and Austin shit sealed it.
  8. Us taxpayers are. Tourism is down and dying by the day, yet we say we’re going to fund this with a tourism tax? What if the money doesn’t come as fast as expected? The spurs have no obligation to pay anything for this despite what they say. The fact that they don’t want an independent analysis done on this says everything. It’s well known that taxpayers never make their money back financing new stadiums, we’re the ones that will get fucked. Several economists have laughed at the gaudy projections the spurs have put out. It’s not happenening, they’re not even a good team and the fan support is as low as I’ve ever seen in my time here. They can go to Austin for all we care.
  9. Anyone else watching the city council meeting? Revolving door of people speaking out against the new arena. Couple that with all the online chatter, I think political suicide for the mayor would be letting this deal happen. No one wants to pay more in taxes so billionaires can get a free arena. If the spurs want to leave they can leave.
  10. Alabama, probably the most consistently good CFB program of all time after Ohio State, is now done for. Got it. I had my doubts on Debauer but that recruiting ranking doesn’t lie. They’re still well above us in terms of a place top recruits want to play.
  11. Nebraska is getting a lot of buzz this off-season from CFB YouTubers and redditors, not necessarily for this season but as a program of the future. It really seems like they’re primed to become a giant again in the NIL and expanded playoff era. Solid showing this year should get it rolling.
  12. Go to any in the valley and see if you still believe that. If you want better pizza down there you need to go to an actual pizza spot. I imagine among fast food pizza up here it’s also at the top. I’m not saying it’s Dough or Il Forno or Fralos. But is it better than Pizza Hut, Dominos, Cicis, and Little Caesars? Yes.
  13. Judge just hit homer #40. Crazy given how many games he’s missed this year.
  14. Unreal Hawaii fucking lost. Also, today I learned that Honolulu Little League is literally the only little league in Honolulu. It covers the entire city of 350k people. No wonder they always do so good.
  15. Unironically really fucking good pizza. RGV people know.
  16. Wednesday is ok. Wish they’d let Jenna Ortega show off more.
  17. The place off 35 by the horsetracks? I pass it often and I’ve never seen one customer there. Surprised it hasn’t closed.
  18. In my defense, this is what I was basing it on. It only lists 1 offer as well. I had no idea he was the top player in the state. Still, getting the top in state player once in 25 years is abysmal. I guess growing up there you would want to see some place different for college but damn.
  19. He wasn’t a top recruit at all, he was par for the course for who they usually sign. He just turned out to be really good
  20. It’s kind of amazing Hawaii has never gotten even just one top recruit from there to play for them, ever. Even Houston got Ed Oliver.
  21. I saw the first episode of this and thought it was decent, haven’t seen anything in here to make me want to keep watching. Which is disappointing, I had high hopes because HBO has made some amazing docs
  22. This was so much better when it was a 16 team tourney
  23. He actually did go to NC as a freshman, then transferred and started at burleson as a sophomore, to now transferring back to NC as a junior. Isn’t it European soccer where teams loan out their younger players to lesser teams for more playing experience? Gates is revolutionizing HS football.
  24. Typical UIL bullshit. I already had a write up for him in my Helo’s Homies note and now I need to replace him with someone
