  1. I feel for you guys. As only a casual Stars fan, I can't imagine how pissed off the recent results would make me if I had the Stars on the same level as Texas football. Oh, wait. I guess I can.
  2. Yes! I got to use a line during a phonological awareness training I was doing on Thursday. Well, it was funny in my head at least. Facilitator: Ok. Say the word "bees". Me: Beads!? Lady at my table: Bees! Me: Bees? How hard can it be? Bzzzzz. The entire room: *Stares at me like I'm insane.*
  3. Well, I've been "lucky" enough to catch the last 3 games all the way through. Geesh. If you're watching because of the American players, I guess you're happy because it's just like watching the US National team (lately). No clear tactics Hustling, over-their-heads defensive midfield (Weston and Tyler) No offense whatsoever Continue playing a guy at the 9 (*Bamford) that has no business even being on the field In a game that needs a goal, leave one of your truly creative players (Aaronson) on the bench until the 70th minute *I've only seen bits and pieces of Leeds until these last 3 games. If this guy has done something to warrant all the playing time before I was able to watch, I apologize.
  4. Ha-ha. Following via this thread. What a ahit show.
  5. I dare anyone who hasn't, to watch Dear Zachary: A Letter to... I, literally, screamed at the tv at one point.
  6. I dare anyone who hasn't, to watch Dear Zachary: A Letter to... I, literally, screamed at the tv at one point.
  7. Sure. Go ahead and introduce the mutt to Bevo IV. He loves dogs.
  8. Ha! Funny side story related to nostalgia. In about 6th grade, I was obsessed with being a meteorologist. I had tons of books, a weather station, etc... Hell, I "F-5'd" the hell out of the number 844-4444 any time there was a chance of snow and the temp was borderline freezing. (Wonder if anyone on here recalls 844-4444?). Anyway, I write a letter to Troy Duncan asking for advice. He wrote back. I still have the letter. Imagine the kid from A Christmas Story reading his letter. I get to the end where he says something about, "If you're truly interested, you'll probably need to attend Oklahoma or Texas A&M". Son of a bitch. I - literally - gave up on meteorology after that sentence.

The poor Native American girls.I thought about Bill Burr's bit about watching Roots for the first time... "Jesus, they're still beating him?"
  10. This scene in Terms of Endearment gets me every time because I lived it. Same situation growing up. Once, when I was about 11, and just now starting to realize that being a poor gets a hell of a lot harder when your friends become aware, I wanted to go roller skating. Local rink (maybe Thunderbird?) in Richardson. ALL of my friends were going. Though we never had much, I didn't think that the $3-$4 the ticket cost would be prohibitive. My mom, best friend, and I spent 3 hours ransacking our house for spare change. That was bad enough. Pouring the $4 in random pennies, dimes, and nickels out on the counter while all of my friends watched was worse.
  11. Going way back. I sat down and watched Parenthood for the first time since being a parent. There's only about 10 scenes in that movie that get me now. Weird, because as a young adult, it was 100% to me. As a parent there's much deeper meaning.
  12. I know this was rhetorical, but I was curious. According to 247, the 50th best player in Texas was #271 in the country. Manning #1 Williams #48 Baxter #22 Mitchell #204 Moore #101 Akana #125 So, all of them.
  13. Almost did. I got as far as a phone interview, but got rejected because I had recently been to Mexico.
  14. I remember those. I was close to taking the bait. Get it? But, I met a guy that had gone up there the previous year. He told me you prep fish below deck for 16 hours a day, and that it was absolutely miserable. He also lost half a finger. I imagine monotony, lack of sleep, boredom, and the motion of the boat would make fingers somewhat susceptible to accidental slicings.
  15. Ok. Someone help me out. And, for the record, I feel regarded for having to ask. Can someone please explain the whole "letter thing" that initiated this series? All I got was that a new inmate upset the apple cart by sending a letter from prison. I recall Bunny ending up with the letter, but never understood what that whole subplot was about.
  16. Right. But the problem is in forecasting in absolutes. For whatever reason, Delkus may tie his forecasting to one model; however, there were plenty of models showing that this could get bad. Instead, he completely misses the forecast, then tries to congratulate himself at a later time.
  17. Same happened up here (DFW). One of our main guys - Pete Delkus - posted a graphic Sunday that showed nothing but rain w/ temps only getting close to freezing Tue. morning. I think he had highs in the upper 40's with lows in the upper 30's for the entire week. Then, 2 days ago, the fuckstick posted a tweet that lauded his weather skills stating, "Everything we predicted this weekend has gone exactly as planned". I'm sorry. I know forecasting can be difficult. But how GD difficult can it be to state that some models show this; HOWEVER, SOME SHOW THIS BAD THING COULD HAPPEN?

    USMNT 2023

I've always wondered how much culture plays into these decisions. Obviously if you love your country and never considered playing for another despite the option, the decision seems easy. Or, if you're from a smaller, less televised country, perhaps you could raise your profile by choosing, say, England over <insert smaller country>. For those in Europe that are making their way up the corporate soccer ladder, perhaps the US is a great choice for international play. European football is a grind. The media is a grind. Choose the US and you get a mini-vacation a couple of times a year + you'll get a more fawning fan base/media.
  19. Guys. Petrino is upbeat and is off to as good of a start as you can have in.
  20. LOL. I just knocked out Season 1. Thanks ice. Two things about Dianne West. 1. She was helping Kyle's marriage in exactly the same was as she did for Martha Plimpton in Parenthood. 2. The trend of shows that I like, that have one female character I can't stand, continues - Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Yellowstone, etc..
  21. I don't know. I feel as if the Cowboys are very black v white. /no racist. Though, you are proof otherwise.
  22. I read the op, but no the 4 pages of responses. Here's what I'd say. If the fence truly means something to you, tell the guy or homeowner and work it out. If the fence is a side-thought, then take the $ and call it a day. This is not directed at the OP, but I feel that a lot of issues these days are due to folks overreacting or creating causes out of nothing. I'd just accept the fence + $ or let it go.
