  1. As for Illinois, the Public Health Director said 90% of deaths have an underlying condition. More evidence we dont all have the same risk profile and we need to open up intelligently. Spend our resources protecting those at risk and lets be smart and start the comeback.
  2. Warm weather and lack of public transportation have to be part of it, outside of Atlanta. Hopefully this virus acts like others in that respect and things calm down over the summer before the fall wave.
  3. Pretty sure Mizzou has never made the Final Four. Amazing actually. Love KC. Loathe STL. Faded glory by half a century and they cant admit it. Most provincial place ever. Look, nobody really gives a fuck where you went to high school, especially when you are 50. Married a Mizzou gal and the folks I know are nice enough but there are a lot of times where they dont remember where they are in the food chain and it becomes an issue. They usually get reminded soon enough.
  4. I am generally pretty pro law enforcement but this is brownshirt level shit right here.
  5. Where is Snake Plisskin when you really need him?
  6. Right, but that's the first I remember hearing it. Wonder if that knowledge could have helped when NY was in the storm.
  7. Isn't the prone positioning a fairly recent thing? Sure dont hear a lot of talk about ventilators anymore.
  8. So MJ is a big meanie to his teammates in the name of excellence. Heard the same shit about Troy Aikman from a coach who was with the Cowboys then. If that's the price of greatness, lets have more of it. The world is plenty full of little bitches. Its why people are paying so much attention to this series. Its a reminder that greatness is out there but it usually comes at a price.
  9. Meh. Too long. Spent way too much time being sympathetic to Koresh and the cult. Not my cup of tea there. Always thought this was ATF idiocy and didn't see anything to dispel that.
  10. Northwestern hospital in Chicago is losing 150,000,000 per month. At 39,000 per Covid death they need to fake 3800 deaths a month to get back to even. People really believe that shit happens? I had surgery and an overnight there last year. Total bill was 100,000. Logic would dictate that if anything they would hide all Covid deaths so they can open up and get that hospital going 100% again. Thats the incentive.
  11. And the last 10 minutes of Episode 7 was just awesome. No apologies, no excuses. Dont really see that anymore.
  12. Back in the day, buddy of mine went to a dinner with Phil Jackson that was sponsored by a Wall St. firm. No press. Jackson is riffing on various things and talks about how even the best need to ask for help. In the Finals against Seattle Payton is just killing them at one point. At half, Jackson asks what are we going to do about the Glove? MJ apparently said hey man I need some help with this guy. Pippen said he's mine, shuts Payton down, and they win the title.
  13. Have to think just about any retailer that has been taken out by a PE firm is in huge trouble unless they are significant online players. The model is established. Lever the shit out of it and maybe exit big. Retail as we know it will be a smoking crater if this goes on another few months.
  14. I have always thought that getting this from a doorknob would be extremely rare. If that were a normal route anyone who rode mass transit would have gotten this damn thing by now. The EL is a regular petri dish.
  15. That praying mantis is all "hold still while I eat your face." Nature you scary indeed.
  16. That team would get crushed in the modern NBA. Almost no skill anywhere on the floor. I will give you Ewing but that's it.
  17. Even mediocre space program stuff is awesome. In.
  18. When it comes to polling hard to ignore that no polling showed Trump with much of a chance. I think people are saying what they think pollsters want to hear, but their actions will be quite different. Its human nature to be fatigued at this point. Most people outside of NY probably dont know anyone who has gotten sick from this. Hard to get past the idea that this is not a front and center thing to them. On that note I did check the official Illinois stats and noted that for my age and ethnic demographic the total deaths is 43, out of a total population of 12 million. You cant stay closed indefinitely and destroy the economy for a decade with numbers like that. Its too far on the other end of the risk/reward spectrum. We dont all have the same risk profile. Now comes the part where we go with the best info we have and start to put humpty dumpty back together again, even knowing we will have rolling shutdowns.
  19. So the RE owners are exempt from property taxes too, right? Or is everyone in Seattle a Microsoft billionaire?
  20. This really sucks too. Chicago was a tremendous restaurant town before this. Going to be lot of smoking ruins pretty soon.
  21. The CDC revision is interesting. IMHE has about 65,000 to date estimated. And CDC is 37,000 with huge drop off in weekly deaths? Kind of a big spread there Bob. Haven't really dug into this but if this pattern holds its kind of a big deal, no?
  22. I liked how he went after the nearest threat Clyde Drexler. "I got something for that dude" then scorched Clyde for 35 in the first half of game one. Love Clyde but he had no chance.
  23. Man, if there were ever a model that is ripe for disruption this is it. Hard to justify 60k per year for some online classes. And good luck getting a bunch of college kids to practice social distance over the long run. I wouldn't have done it either.
  24. Have you ever seen Grand Central at rush hour? Mass transit brings more people into tighter quarters than anything on earth, especially in NYC. When we get real contact tracing people will really see it. I bet the exposure for anyone who rode that in March is much much higher than the national average but you cant prove it.
  25. The decomposing bodies thing is ghastly for a first world country. Shit.
