Saboteur (1942) Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It stars Robert Cummins as the innocent man foiling the Cops/Feds as he chases the true saboteur (Norman Lloyd) across the US in order to catch him to prove his innocence. Along the way he hooks up with the easy-on-the-eyes Priscilla Lane. Naturally she questions him but ultimately falls in love with him.
Hitchcock wanted bigger names to do this flick but none were either available or wanted to do the movie so he went with the second, third or fourth options.
I really enjoy old movies despite their hokeyness, plot gaps, regarded situations, and over-the-top performances. It is hard to beat an old black and white film.
White Heat (1949) with James Cagney, Edmond O'Brien and Virginia Mayo.
It is a prison/gangster movie with Cagney playing the bad guy in an over-the-top fashion. Edmond is a federal agent posing as a thug to infiltrate psychopathic hoodlum Cody Jarrett's gang of thieves while in prison.
A lot of these movies are ridiculous in some fashion but I always enjoy them for that.
I have no personal experience in donating items to museums but I have heard of other people that have and a lot of times the items just end up in storage and never see the light of day unless there is something spectacular about them. Over time the museum then ends up selling the items.
He (Bogart) was pretty much on the wrong side in many movies:
King of the Underworld (1939)
Dark Passage (1947)
Bullets or Ballots (1936)
Brother Orchid (1940)
Conflict (1945)
I will embrace this hire as the best that I can. For the most part it is a "meh" for me but will let the other hires for the staff be the true test. I am at a point where I just want stability. Since the latest round is just now taking off I hope that we are not in this position again in 3 to 4 years. I can only spend so much time on Surly!
^^^Looks like we took a similar roadtrip. I recently (late November) took a 3-week trip through northern NM, northern AZ, southern UT and SW Colorado hitting multiple national parks. Perhaps my photo below is of the same sunset in Flagstaff?
Watching this video made me wonder what the longest down field tackle has been made by an interior lineman? This guy probably never thought he would be hit from behind that far downfield by a 300 plus pounder.
Great hustle and effort by Ford. Nice.
I was prepared to fly back in 2018 out of Tyler but they were grounded because of the weather. I was out of town in 2019. Covid canceled the event in 2020. Hopefully they will make the East Texas circuit in 2021.
For the longest, on both my laptop and on my iPhone, when I would click on a topic to read it it would always automatically take me to the topic page and entry where I last viewed it.
Now when I click on a topic it always takes me to the first page. For topics that have multiple pages it is a pain to figure out where I last read.
What happened? How can I fix it?
Exhausted. Spent the last 2 days trying to catch up on this thread. Afraid to go to sleep tonight because so much is said but nothing happens. This thread needs a summary thread at least twice a day.
