  1. For the longest, on both my laptop and on my iPhone, when I would click on a topic to read it it would always automatically take me to the topic page and entry where I last viewed it. Now when I click on a topic it always takes me to the first page. For topics that have multiple pages it is a pain to figure out where I last read. What happened? How can I fix it?
  2. Part of being in the Man Club should require driving a truck and carrying a pocket knife.
  3. I will watch just about anything with Edward G. Robinson in it.
  4. Does that also work with “I think therefore I am”?
  5. Exhausted. Spent the last 2 days trying to catch up on this thread. Afraid to go to sleep tonight because so much is said but nothing happens. This thread needs a summary thread at least twice a day.
  6. Clockwork. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
  7. Was Bowsers knee down or was it on top of someone else? Would have preferred that to be a forecasted pick 6
  8. Ravens should have challenged the catch. LookeD like only one foot was in bounds.
  9. News flash for me, Kate is of the Mara/Rooney clan that owns the Giants and Steelers. I am old but, yeah....
  10. Well, for me I have a 17 month old granddaughter, daughter and SIL who I will not get to see this Christmas because of concerns about of Covid. The granddaughter, my first grandchild, is getting to the age of recognizing things and enjoying things. I was really looking forward to her seeing the tree and house all decorated.
  11. A heads up would be nice. Having to use my shirt sleeve to wipe my eyes.
  12. Nice collection of Civil War items. Though I do not collect CW the era still fascinates me. I can’t tell you how many CW sites I have been too. A buddy of mine that I work with is from the Gettysburg area where his family owns an apple orchard. You can see their property from Round Top. It has been in his family for decades. During the CW troops camped on their property. They are always coming across CW relics. Makes me jealous.
  13. CC was once part of the USCe system and when they decided to get into sports they wanted to pay homage to the Gamecocks so they came up with their mascot but one upped the Cocks by naming themselves after a fancier chicken.
  14. The crudeness, subtleties, composition, references, accuracy, all leads to greatness. Nice work.
  15. Blackmail, 1939, Edward G. Robinson. A fugitive from a chain gang becomes an oil-well firefighter and meets the man who framed him. Blackwell's Island, 1939, John Garfield. A reporter sends a mobster to prison, then goes in after him posing as a convict. Castle on the Hudson, 1940, John Garfield. Sing Sing's warden lets a convict visit his girlfriend on the honor system, but something goes wrong. Each Dawn I Die, 1939, James Cagney. An innocent reporter is found guilty of murder and is sent to jail while his friends at the newspaper try to find out who framed him. I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, 1932, Paul Muni. An innocent man is sent to a prison farm, where he endures the dehumanizing effects of a cruel criminal justice system. Invisible Stripes, 1939, George Raft. An ex-convict joins bank robbers t finance his younger brother's honest business. These are what I can think of at the moment. There were a lot of them made in the 1930's starring Robinson, Raft, Bogart, Garfield, Muni, etc.
  16. After my YT of a swift crash that has hit 100k views, I didn't know they were a slight notch above loggers until I read the comments. Now I watch out for them. Low hour drivers apparently. I know a Swift driver. He is young. His first trucking experience. Their trucks are governed to 67 mph.
  17. Newsflash for you; Royal Caribbean put out a call for volunteers to go on a free cruise to check-out/confirm Covid safety protocols. In a very short time they had over 100,000 volunteers.
  18. ESPN loves the SEC thus so forth and so on...
  19. Just watched "Easy Living" starring Victor Mature released in 1949. It also stars Lizabeth Scott and Lucille Ball. In this drama Mature is a football star that is trying to hang on despite having a heart condition. His wife is constantly nagging him. She likes the fame and fortune but does not like the potential of life without all that comes with the glory. Lucille Ball is the team secretary that has a crush on him. It shows old football which is always a bonus for me. The scene that kills me is towards the end of the movie he slaps his wife pretty hard. He tells her that she deserved it and she acknowledges that she does as well. Of course they embrace and live happily ever after.
  20. Yes it is. It is not in the Pilanesberg Map and Guide book as a bird expected to be seen in the park. My South African co-worker that was with me was excited to see it as he said it was a rare bird to see. We never saw it fly. It ran down the middle of the road for about 50 yards and then turned into the grass to the right. We were able to watch it walk for another 20 yards or so then we lost it in the grass.
  21. #1 bucket list item for me is an African safari. Awesome photos I highly recommend it. As I mentioned in an earlier post I have visited Pilanesberg National Park multiple times and Kruger National Park once. Pilanesberg is ~220 square miles and Kruger is ~7500 square miles. Despite these being "parks", and the border being fenced in, the animals are very much wild. You have a strong chance of seeing the Big 5 in both parks. The entrance fee to Pilanesberg is less than $10USD per day. I typically stay at Bakubung in Pilanesberg. You do not need a long time either. The game are moving around early in the morning and again in the late afternoon/early evening. There is still movement throughout the day but not as much. I recommend going during our summer, their winter, because there will be less vegetation thus making it easier to see the game. I strongly suggest going on a safari ride in an open air vehicle with a park ranger. You will be riding with other people which will help as there are more eyes to spot the game. Plus the rangers have radios so they are in contact with the other rangers just in case someone spots a Big 5 they can quickly drive to that area in hopes of others being able to see them too. These rides last about 4 hours beginning pre-dawn and again in late afternoon. We did both; an early morning and evening ranger drive and then took our personal vehicle in between the guided drives.
  22. I have both the BoB and The Pacific on DVD (i am old). I have watched BoB numerous times. I have watched The Pacific exactly once. BoB blew me away. It never gets old. The Pacific? Not so much.
  23. Some additional photos from my trip to Africa. Some pics were taken with my cell phone and some with my co-workers camera. He was driving and I was taking pics. He lives in South Africa so he is used to this kind of stuff. Nice camera. Cell phone pic Cell phone This is about 1/3 of the group Cell phone Cell phone. It looks like the impala is looking at the balloon. South Africa is not the safest place. This is the entrance to our facility in Johannesburg. Fairly standard site in SA. Cell phone. The foot was on the gas just in case we needed to get away quickly. Cell phone Nice camera. A group hug. This zebra had been in a fight.
  24. The following are pics of US GI's preparing to return home at the end of the War taken by my Great-Uncle. When he gave me these photos he teared up. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally was able to say, " We left a lot of good men over there." It is getting misty in here just thinking about him and the others that serve(d). Troops boarding a ship heading home. Troops in Axem, Austria loading up.
  25. Details in the pic. Clothespins in use! Will throw up a disclaimer for future posting of anything that may be of question!!
