  1. Radio commercials during game broadcasts. Why does every f'ng one need to have a pun. "Hit a home run with Davidson plumping". "Washburn-McCreary Funeral services, it's a slam dunk". Don't take a sack in the sack, get blue chew chewables". Fuck!
  2. You want a camera storage backpack with about a 50/50 gear/camera split. My wife has an older version of this one. https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/fastpack-bp-250-aw-ii-lp36869-pww/ It's designed more to be a travel bag, but it has a hip-belt so it would certainly work for hiking. Big downside is that you'd be storing your water directly over your gear. Lowepro has a ton of options, but another one that looks good (I have no experience with it) is the Truckabee. https://www.lowepro.com/us-en/truckee-bp-250-lx-lp37238-pww/ It's got that 50/50 split and you could likely fit a nalgene in that side mesh pocket. If you want to go high end, check out the Mountainsmith Borealis. https://mountainsmith.com/2018-borealis.html I have played with this and I really like that it's freestanding. it's also got the hip-belt to help this the extra weight of the camera gear.
  3. You say camera gear. You mean and expensive DSLR and a couple of extra lenses? Because that's an entirely different deal than a standard backpacking Daypack that has room for a mirrorless camera. I
  4. I did misunderstand the scope of that decision. Thanks. I have to think though, that the combination of the Plakas decision and Graham V Conner would make it extremely difficult to legally compel a cop to employ a less than lethal response to a situation in which lethal force is a reasonable necessity to protect his own life. Can we really enact a law that would allow a gun on an officer's hip, but hold him criminally responsible if he doesn't use his OC spray first when a suspect is charging at him with a knife? Would that hold up constitutionally? *This is a side discussion that is well outside the known facts of this case, in where there is zero evidence to support that the action was at all reasonable.
  5. It's not a start, it's markedly regressive. "Necessary" (substantive due process) was the standard before Graham V Conner came around and established the "Reasonable" standard. I don't know anything about the law beyond what you said, but I don't think it's got any chance in hell at standing. Nor should it, in my opinion. The problem (and let me be clear- it's a big fucking problem), is not the "Reasonable Standard", but instead it's interpretation. "I was scared for my life" shouldn't cut it. Would a reasonable police officer be scared for their life in this situation? Not a chance.
  6. Had me until this part: "And their use of force policy doesn’t require officers to use available non-lethal alternatives to shooting people." Federal Law says it wouldn't be legal if they did. Plakas V Drinski:"There is no precedent in this Circuit (or any other) which says that the Constitution requires law enforcement officers to use all feasible alternatives to avoid a situation where deadly force can be justifiably used" Of course, it seems clear that deadly forced WASN'T justified here, but the statement is still misleading- at best.
  7. I have a buddy who renovated his house a few years ago and had a moving container put in on the street outside their house. One night, a neighbor called the police because they noticed that the container had been broken into. One cop came to the door, and proceeded to let himself in the 3 season porch. The other went to the side of the house, and started shining his lights in the house. They never announced themselves. Hearing the creaking floor and seeing the lights, buddy's wife woke up and started to scream. He jumped up and ran to the front of the house ready to fight. Luckily he's white and didn't have a gun. I'm surprised shootings like this don't happen more often.
  8. Affectionately known as Sneet (snow + sleet). Minnesota was prepared for the weather. Nebraska wasn't. We'll see what the 2nd half brings.
  9. I don't need this, even a little bit, but... https://www.k-bid.com/auction/30262/item/2 The question is, what do I do with it? It's a single chamber, heavy steel cooker but it's gas. It does look to have a spot inside on the right- for chips maybe? I don't know, but I think I can get this for close to free. Thoughts?
  10. Not that they shouldn't make the movie they want regardless, but I have a feeling this portrayal is going to inspire a whole bunch of nut bars to do nut bar stuff. I'm gonna go ahead and not watch this in a crowded theater.
  11. He's doing pretty well so far. Super smart, and loves to walk with me in the woods. All puppy though.
  12. I don't disagree. This is my black lab's replacement. It was too soon to do another- couldn't do it.
  13. Chester is 6 months now! 8 weeks in the first pic.
  14. Cool. On a related note, is there anyone from the Virginia/West Virginia/North Carolina/South Carolina/Kentucky area that would like to have lunch with me next week?
  15. Craziest game I've seen in a very long time.
  16. My least favorite musical by a mile. I still like the trend of Broadway to film, but not this one. Nope.
  17. I think there's a walk somewhere in the middle of that too. Indians will be sellers by the end of the weekend.
