  1. Not sure how we got halfway through Saturday but let's go! Got 5 spares on and getting a bunch of drummies prepped. How's that Brisket coming JSB?
  2. Been looking to upgrade my 13 year-old MSR Zoid 2 before I head out on a 3 week Boundary Waters trip in September. Got lucky. Just bought a brand new Copper Spur HV UL2 on auction for $175. Figure I can sell the MSR for $65-$70 and I will have bought a brand new $450 tent for about a hundred bucks. Today was a good day. Did you get a footprint for yours? I think I'd be good in terms of water protection but I worry about the durability of the material.
  3. This guy prefers pieces of asphalt and trash, but will happily settle for grass, twigs, leaves, dirt clumps, pine cones etc.
  4. Truth. I bought late last year in anticipation of this very moment. Up about 25% in 6 months. Don't know if I'll get the service though.
  5. The MPD Police Chief was forced to resign shortly after the Noor shooting. Additionally, there has been a lot of scrutiny Re: Noor's hiring and training, specifically related to claims that his unfitness to serve was ignored due to the department's desire to have a Somali Officer.
  6. It is a good thing. Of course the "black (muslim) cop, white victim" dynamic contributes. Upon some reflection, it's not the "cops are only held responsible when they're black and the victim is white" narrative that bothers me, because there's that needs to be considered. What I find perplexing is this narrative: Noor was guilty of Manslaughter (Not Murder IMO). It's ok to accept this and still be upset about injustices in prior cases. He didn't get railroaded because he's black. I was shocked when Yanez walked. He should have been convicted, and I believe that if Castille was white he wouldn't have been shot in the first place.
  7. Guilty of 3rd Degree Murder and Manslaughter. None of the "hold the police responsible" crowd seem to be particularly happy about it though. Perception (narrative) is that cops are only held responsible when they're black and the victim is white. Interesting dynamic.
  8. He's doubled in size. Cute as hell and smart as a whip, but damn is he a pain in the ass in this stage.
  9. Have I displeased you, you feckless thug?
  10. I nominate C Thomas Howell for the "No Way is that the Same Actor/Actress" thread.
  11. Anyone else think that the whole thing with the White Walkers will be resolved by the middle of the season?
  12. Yep, me too. It's actually hard to find a high end Fridge that doesn't have one. Eventually settled on a GE and are very happy with it. As for Samsung, we went with them for the Dishwasher, microwave, and range. It's only been a year but I'm very happy, particularly with the range. It's badass.
  13. It's episode by episode for me. Love the plot and the action, but the teen angst stuff isn't for me. Worth the watch over all.
  14. English Labs are generally a little shorter, not as long, and heavier than American Labs. They have blockier heads and, while good hunters in their own right, are not quite as high energy. My dog's dad is 85 lbs. His mom is 65. They're not small dogs.
  15. Here's our brand new English lab, Chester. Got him two weeks ago.
  16. No hit wonders, but plenty obscure. I still, for the life of me, don't know why this song wasn't a massive hit.
  17. We all need a little more Willians Astudillo in our lives. Damn he's fun to watch. El Tortugo!!!
  18. If you enjoyed watching John Shuster and his team during the olympics, check out the World Championships, starting tomorrow. All USA games will be televised on the NBC Olympic Channel. You'll see all the familiar teams from the Olympics including the US Team (With the exception of Tyler George, who stepped away, allowing his buddy Chris Plys to step in). https://www.nbcsports.com/live/curling I'm not an expert, but I do play, so feel free to ask away if you have any questions.
